I agree with having the option for patterns, that would be useful. But as for polyphony... it is polyphonic. That polyphony is determined by how much you turn up the rate of each individual hit and whereabouts you are on the map and what map you use. The more rate (or probability)you have for each hit the more likely they are to played at the same time.

True. But I mean polyphony in the sense of how it works on a synth. I want the rate up so it triggers more often, but I don’t want more than one note to trigger at the same time. I feel like they could be separate parameters.

TheDavidAgenda Aha now I’ve got you! So actually monophonic so no one sound source plays together ... yeah, I think that would be a good idea.

lol yea true, that’s a better way of saying it! 😅

Maybe a weird idea (with me not having both Reason and Live), you can set up multiple BeatMaps and set them to be in different octaves. If all of them can be output to the same MIDI channel (combinator? Not sure about that), you can use a note transpose effect to "select" different BeatMaps to use, as the range of whatever drum instrument would be stay within an octave. It could work with automations as well.

This is an excellent idea! Theoretically it sounds like it could work so I’ll definitely give it a try!

I would love to be able to change the note out of each generator with automation (this is for using BM harmonically or melodically but I guess there would be percussive uses too?)

Yea that would be awesome! For drums that would allow you to easily swap out different kicks, for example. Like if you wanted one to hit harder in a drop.

To control the randomness of the beat map I often print the midi to track and different variation on separate lanes and switch between the midi clips
@lotsofpieces90124 жыл бұрын
Same here. Unless you are in some kind of live perfomance setting the need to switch between variations on the fly really isn't there. But would be nice to have for those people of course.

This is a good strategy. I’ll definitely give this a go! 🙏🏻

I just think it wouldn’t be that hard to make it so you can process the MIDI on the same track as your instrument. It’s just that little bit more frustrating to have to use multiple tracks and record something just to have MIDI data. It’s currently like MIDI resampling and I don’t think it needs to be.

Beatmap needs the same Quad note generator visualizer. I think the Reason Studio programmers took the Quad note generator code and added a less random algorithm generator and mapped it on a texture. I think Beatmap needs special textures to generate basic patterns less randomized. A pattern visualizer would be a nice feature.

Do you think a pattern visualiser would help? I kind of like not having one. I just want to be able to convert it more efficiently to MIDI if I do want to visualise or adjust the pattern.

Agrée with all requested features. Talking about drag and drop with beatmap coupled with octo Rex, I would like to be able to drag a loop from my other daw into it and that it converts to Rex file so I can play it straight away, for now we can just bounce to Rex in Reason but what we do when using the rack? Someone have a quick way to do it? It’s missing a tool in the rack where I can drop the audio and bounce it to Rex inside the rack

That’s a good suggestion 👍🏻

beatmap is just a quick lazy option; - do some WORK with REDRUM!!!!

Redrum is pretty good!

You can record the midi coming out of beat map on to a track. Checkout 6:30 or so of this tutorial. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3-qqZevicqpsNU

Thanks man 🙏🏻 I’m aware of this use. I feel like it’s an unnecessary step, however. I feel like you should be able to have the MIDI data exported directly on the track you are using. Like you can with Dr Octo Rex.

@@matthewstuartnz yeah I commented before getting thru the rest of the vid. Lol. Hopefully they'll incorporate some of your ideas.
