For the record, Exotic did have a mishap about what he talks about In his video. Not when he was handling the tarantula, but instead a tragic accident during a feeding video. Exotic was feeding one of his adult Achaotscuria geniculatas when she suddenly bolted out her enclosure and run off the door. She then lost her balance and fell a couple feet to the floor. She sustained devastating injuries as her abdomen ruptured on impact. Exotic did try and help her, but her wounds were too severe and she succumbed to her injuries about a day later. Even at so much as 1 foot, a fall could lead to potentially fatal injuries.

@@ambrosesky that's why, if you have 2 brain cells to rub together, you handle them on a table. Not the air over the floor. She is on my arm, up my shoulder and usually crawls to my chest or stomach area, which when seated there's no way she could get hurt. She is 18yo and a gentle old lady and she does have her bolty moments and once she did kick hairs... At my sweater. But nothing at all dangerous for her.

Without watching yet, I’d assume the answer to the title of the video is the following: 1) Tarantulas are not cuddly pets. They’re unpredictable, they can bite, and while their bite isn’t likely to be dangerous to a human, it can be very painful. 2) They can be killed by a fall, even if it’s a short one. 3) Urticating hairs.

The main reason I don't hold my tarantulas is because I don't own any which is because I have extreme arachnophobia. I remember going to a show once where they were encouraging people to hold a tarantula and to not be afraid, I was going to do so, but as they brought it close to my hand, I couldn't hold still and I started sweating profusely and in the end I didn't go through with it, which was probably actually better for the sake of the animal as well as myself. Panicking momentarily and potentially throwing a spider into a crowd of people would not have been good for anyone, least of all the spider - that said, as afraid of them as I am, I do care about animals.

EDIT: I just noticed the AI thumbnail, please don't fall down that path. Your old thumbnails are way better and creative. Huh, guess my Texas Brown Tarantula was really docile then, she would climb my hand willingly and slowly crawl around while I switched hands to keep her walking or would either get comfy in my hand. We've always handled her over a table tho, my father keeping attention to catch her if needed. We would also check if she was in the mood to be held tho haha I really miss her, r.i.p Blaze! @teleportingtoaster78317 күн бұрын
Many people care about AI thumbnails because AI is extremely damaging to the environment, and has been used to take over jobs. It is very, very harmful, and the more I've learned about AI, I completely understand the comments. And it's not really an obsession, it's people being concerned, or however they feel about AI. And they aren't worried about only the AI, some people enjoy his thumbnails that have actual photos. It's also I believe a nostalgia thing. Sure, there's fearmongering, but many of the comments are just concerned. AI isn't really a good thing. It's not something to support. I would search up how AI destroys the environment, if you are curious.

People need to understand that pet tarantulas (and other wild animals) are not the same as domesticated pets, they don't like cuddles. Maybe they like the warmth of your hand, but that's all. Tarantulas are extremely fragile and risking handling them is just not recommended. I handle my pet snake about once every week, but people often ask if I even like my pet if I leave them alone most of the time. Of course I love them, but who says that a snake who sleeps during the day wants to be handled constantly by a big ass human? He does seem to like being picked up, but I don't wanna bother him every single day cause he is just sleeping so peacefully.

I’ve held a tarantula twice in my life. It’s not unpleasant, it’s just strange. Like tickling slowly moving across your palm. Their steps are delicate and near weightless. Flatten your palm with one hand then with your ring finger (the most delicate finger in your hand supposedly) just barely touch your palm with the tip, almost floating it, no pressure though, and bounce it lightly across the length of the hand slightly randomly. Imagine it times 8. That’s how it felt to me. It’s barely there. Very sensory.
