Never go 10K miles for a oil change unless you want your engine to burn oil or wear out fast 5K is better!🤓
@user-tb7rn1il3q4 күн бұрын
It depends on how the car is driven. 10k mile oil changes are conservative for most Toyotas subject to high highway miles. You need to monitor the condition and level of the oil though. If in doubt stay within the severe schedule of no more than 5k miles. Modern engines and oil are much better than even 10 years ago.
@Raider195824 күн бұрын
I took mine in at 5k and they said it wasn't necessary until 10k.I told them I'm the customer so change the damn oil.

Same here. Did it on my wife’s 2008 Lexus RX350, 2017 ES350 and my wife’s now new 24 NX350h. 1k miles oil change in all of them, then every 6 months after usually equates to 3-4K miles. Toyota oil filter and Mobil 1 only, nothing else.
@mattdecker67914 күн бұрын
@@jml9550I think that is really smart. Engines today are getting stuck rings and burning oil like crazy. 3K/6-month oil changes can help keep those rings working freely and prevent oil from entering the combustion chambers.
@jml95504 күн бұрын
@ thx. We keep our cars until they fall apart, so we better take care of it. The 08 RX just hits 165k miles and does not burn a drop of oil.

I don't like how this guy talks about wasting time....Many many people have no clue about cars...they know how to put gas in it (or not)...and that's about it. When they buy a new car they expect it to run trouble free...but when they see a warning light they are very concerned...and will bring it in right away...as they should. Not everyone is an expert...be a bit more understanding.

what you said is true, but on the other hand, the only people watching videos like this are the type to take care of issues like this themselves, the way they handled this was great and the goal of this video is to inform people like us who take care of things themselves.

Maybe read the owner's manual to learn what the warning lights mean to determine if it's urgent or not?

@@WaterDrone If outreach like this prompts another couple percentage points of the car owning public to get interested in regular maintenance, I’d say the effort is not in vain. Many of us are at the mercy of their maintenance efforts when, ultimately, their rigs hit the used market.

I think today's automobiles are less tolerant of neglect than they were 20 years ago. Modern motor oil can still only suspend a fixed amount of carbon before it precipitates out, forms sludge, and jams the rings solid.

@@mattdecker6791 I disagree. The problem is people have much less mechanical knowledge than they used to and never service their cars. The newer cars actually hold up better to abuse.
