BIG YES on the point that it eliminates analysis paralysis! I’m so glad I don’t have to make decisions all the time, cause I’m the worst at it 😅 I’ve gotten so used to it by now that every time we happen to go to a vegan restaurant I’m SO overwhelmed because I don’t know what to pick 😭😂

Same 😂😂 I'm always checking the menu before I go in, and then I narrow it down to three! It feels like a wild concept now, idk how I ever picked before I went vegan lol

Being vegan is surprisingly freeing, and I don't think we talk about that enough. Anytime you break out of cognitive dissonance about something, it's generally a significant relief. You can't be an animal lover while paying for animal torture. The mental gymnastics you see people do to try to get around that are pretty interesting once you're no longer participating.
@CorpseFreeKitchen

YES I think about that all the time!! I was recently talking with someone about the mental gymnastics aspect. I've claimed to be an animal lover all my life. When I realized that you can't love them and eat them too, it just wrecked me for a couple months and I had no other choice but to go vegan. I plan on doing a "things I wish I knew before I went vegan" video and plan to talk about the cognitive dissonance part! Thanks so much for your comment! 💕

5:27 It's all about ratios. Carbs:Protein - Spinach gets a 1:1, lentils is a 2:1. Quinoa is 5:1, and the only reason quinoa is considered a complete protein is because all the amino acids are balance, but I wouldn't consider quinoa an actual protein. Pinto beans are around 10:1. Brown Rice is a 20:1 and white rice is around 30:1.

I'm definitely interested in looking up your recipes. I'm not vegan but always enjoyed adding new recipes to the rotation. Though half the list is saying veganism is better cuz you have less options. Not the best selling point, but you sounds pretty accepting of non vegans so to each their own.
@CorpseFreeKitchen
@CorpseFreeKitchen 2 ай бұрын
I definitely hear your point! I think "half" might be a bit of a stretch lol, but there is beauty in fewer options in my opinion. It requires more responsibility and can inhibit the impulsivity that often comes from shopping - both online or in stores. Grocery stores included! We only have so much willpower. When a large percentage of our "options" are no longer an option, we don't have to waste our willpower on it. I hope that makes sense! Also, thanks for checking out the channel! 😊 I hope you enjoy the recipes!

@@CorpseFreeKitchen I can definitely understand why some could appreciate that logic. I've met my fair share of people that struggle with the complexity of simply existing. Though I've always enjoyed adding options to my life, with more choices you are less likely to get bored. I appreciate the exchange, it's quite refreshing.

All your points here are so true and positive and vibey. So many of the points others see as a negative, you reframed them in my brain and I thank you! I've actually had to go pescatarian because of food allergies and sensities. But I often found that sticking to mostly vegan is easier, and the pescatarian just gives me more options in a pinch or if I need something my body isn't absorbing properly from plant sources. My body eats through protein faster than most people and needs a higher amount to function, but I struggle to absorb a lot of plant based proteins, so sometimes fish and eggs are necessary. Thankfully, I can get away with sticking more to eggs than worrying about the fish side.

7:21 If vegans do have high cholesterol, it's most definitely from trans fats and hydrogenated oils.... And perhaps ultra processed oils like corn oil or other oils that use solvents to extract the oils. I prefer to stick to the main three. EVOO, coconut, and peanut oil.

Weird my brother's in Alabama. In Tuscaloosa so probably pretty far away. He isn't vegan, but eats vegetarian a lot it sounds like. I kind of thought it would be hard going vegan there. I'm in Seattle a land overflowing with soy at least by comparison.

I haven't been to Tuscaloosa, but I don't think it's a very vegan-friendly city! Birmingham isn't too bad and it's fairly close by. Going vegan requires a loootttt of cooking when you're not in a vegan friendly city 😬 it's tough, that's for sure.

@@CorpseFreeKitchen Oh yeah I think he goes into Birmingham occasionally. It doesn't look too bad in Tuscaloosa. I've rarely visited him in Alabama and not since I became vegan. At first glance looks bad because no happy cow entries, but google maps brings up a number of places that have options. It's a college town, so probably a bit better than some places in Alabama. I live in the suburbs, so day to day I don't have a ton of options either though there is randomly a fully vegan Chinese place near me which is cool. And Seattle is a 20-60 min drive depending on traffic.

How long your vegan? Talking about cholesterol, you can have cholesterol on a vegan diet. It's weird to say but avocado cause cholesterol even if it's a fruit. All the oils and fats in beyond, inpossible vegan meats, can cause you lots and lots of troubles on your health. It's because it's vegan it means healthy. And even gardein products are in the same boat.
@CorpseFreeKitchen
@CorpseFreeKitchen Ай бұрын
I said that about cholesterol 😊 there are also different types of cholesterol, HDL and LDL. LDL is the "bad" type that is typically associated with animal products. I've been vegan 5 years!

Wait, I thought fries at fast food places aren't vegan? They usually fry them in beef fat? Am I wrong?
@CorpseFreeKitchen
@CorpseFreeKitchen 3 ай бұрын
It depends on the place! Many of them do. For example, McDonald's used to but supposedly doesn't anymore. Regardless, there's usually some cross-contamination for most fast food places because they most likely use the same grill or fryer as non-vegan items. It comes down to your preference after that!

Veganism is not about benefits for humans.... It just so happens to be plant-based diet is good for human beings. That is a plant-based diet. You have to have some sort of plant-based diet to be vegan... Veganism is a very serious animal rights movement. Separate from diet culture... Let's please keep it that way... Veganism is simply the doctrine that humans have no right to exploit other animals for their own interests
