I'm currently in the process of transitioning into veganism, so this video was very helpful to me. I've found myself falling into the trap of thinking of veganism as a diet change, but I like that you focused on veganism in non-diet ways first before you radically changed your diet. My goal, as far as my diet, is to replace all of my favorite foods with vegan/cruelty free options one by one until I no longer need animal products in my diet, and then drawing a hard line from that point on. I have a lot of barriers to radically changing the foods I eat, but I keep in mind a quote I like from an eco sustainability youtuber: she says, "You cannot do all of the good the world needs, but the world needs all of the good you can do". I might be taking baby steps, but the movement is what matters. I won't get there as quickly as I want, but at least I know I'll be able to sustain a vegan diet in the long term, which is much more important to me than being a perfect vegan as soon as possible. I appreciate this video because I feel weird to be taking it so slowly, it's nice to know I'm not alone

It is (unfortunately) really easy to fall into the thought pattern of "I'm not doing enough," but ANYTHING is good enough! At the same time, I think of it like children. We don't get mad at babies because they don't know how to use silverware. We give them the tools and the time to learn! It's the same for adults in any growth process in my opinion ☺️ I love that quote! Who is the creator? I'll have to check her out! Thank you so much for commenting! I really needed to hear that. I put this video out there for people in your position (also my former position) to help remove the shame that could be associated with a transition period. Because there's really nothing to be ashamed of. I'm happy this helped, and congrats on making the change!! 😁 you're going to love it!

I think the hen story is really sweet and imagining what the feather's of the bird was . It took me a bit to go vegan because I went back and forth but one day I honestly thought about my beloved pets and how I would feel if something like that happened to them . Veganism is easy now
@CorpseFreeKitchen

YES! Exactly! I think about that too. It's devastating to know our pets are considered food in other countries, just like cows are considered sacred in some cultures. It's all perspective, and so sad!

Ugh the soy thing typical, if you get into the rabbit hole of where the "soy is bad" comes from, it's pure pro dairy studies that did this. Because it was overtaking the dairy industry, same with the soy is bad for the rainforest, but everyone forgets 90% of soy farming is used for animal feed and even if everyone ate soy it would still be WAYY less land to be used and we don't need to cut down forests to farm! so frustrating haha I've been hearing this bs for years but I just say that Asian countries are healthy and eat soy almost 3 times a day!

Absolutely!! It's quite interesting to get to the root of a lot of these "X is bad" propaganda and hear that it's funded by a competitor. I'd love to research more about the blue zones of the world and talk about their diet!

I think this was very good advice! definitely think the way you handled it was good- I sort of accidentally became vegan after slowly cutting out meat as I never was much of a fan and also I started to be uninterested in eating flesh. even though my diet is vegan and I try to be vegan, I hesitate to label myself just because there's so much baggage and social political things and am not in the place to fully 'own it' if that makes sense. Slaughter house footage is def extreme and can be good motivation but also weigh on the conscious.

That is very true! The label does have a pretty heavy weight! Sometimes I kill an ant in my kitchen and feel guilty even though they've been pestering me for weeks lol.

9:20 I was vegetarian for ~10 years and I would never talk about it with anyone at work or in family. I'd just say I don't wanna eat 'that' when we have to eat together and therefore can't hide my preferences. People really hate when you tell them what to do, even if they're dead wrong - they'll figure it out in the future by themselves, otherwise they'll see you as the enemy, the crazy one. The reason I did it was because I hate animal farming, their torture, and I hate the look and smell of meat.
@CorpseFreeKitchen
@CorpseFreeKitchen 2 ай бұрын
Yeah that's true! I generally don't tell people what I think they should do, I usually just educate them on why I made the decision (if they ask) and then lead by example. People are usually pretty receptive to that approach! It also depends on the setting and people of course.

"As you become more present in your own life, you will begin to enlighten others by your example." Good for you! People will see how you lead your life, and even if they don't ask you why you choose not to eat animals, it's going to be something they think about when they go home!

I thought it was gonna be the sugar in the coconut bar that wasn't vegan, but there would've been no way to know that. It's weird that they would mixed coconut milk with dairy milk for a frozen fruit bar.... Seems almost intentional.
