My younger Brother is self confidence even our names the first indication of identity is European although colonization and slavery is long gone Listen to the ladies ,we always find excuses for simple things we can let go. I think the ladies should watch black panther again and again. The colonial masters came and planted two trees their doctrine and methodology, when the trees started growing they gave us independent knowing we shall water it for them. In other words we didn't got independent they gave it to us. When I came to Europe in 80s all my Ghanaian friends call themselves Black Americans, but yet I got opportunities first with my Ghanaian identity, in terms job school housing not mention beautiful ladies, the common question I heard all the time was are sure you are Ghanaian my answer was yes all the time, and they will continue how come you are deferent? My brother as I said it's self confidence and your brought op.

Agibu Sall that’s your opinion however it’s an accessory. It doesn’t mean that black women don’t like their hair. It doesn’t mean that black women don’t want beautiful in their natural hair. There’s some people that actually have to wear wigs or extensions for medical purposes. I would be more concerned with what’s coming out of a persons mouth then what they’re wearing on their head. I think we have gotten so far away with how we look instead of how were behaving. I think your comment has good intentions but I think you need to look at the bigger picture. Who cares if you have your natural hair if your mindset is not natural towards black people.

Here in America wearing your natural hair means you are too woke or is rebellious. It is still seen as unprofessional in the workplace. There is also a bias in the natural hair community as well. Women with loosely curls are most likely to get natural hair endorsements and more views on youtube. Those with tight curls doesn't get seen that much. I do think Black women are still making excuses to why they don't want to wear their natural hair. Self identity issues is a major problem in Black America. Having long hair is "good hair" in our community. Anything nappy is not seen as pretty. Some of us are still white washed.

They don’t prefer I am a man but I can give you some major reasons why some women wear weaves from different perspectives. 1. Most women who are addicted to weaves grew up within that same environment especially learning that from her peers or parents. Children learn from what they see around them and become programmed to that . So if you asked the few who embraces natural hair you will realize they either had their mum accepting natural hair more or the environment they grew up accepted natural hair. 2. Natural hair is really difficult taking care of on a daily basis because our hair as black people is different so just some men just put on a cap sometimes because they are in a hurry and can’t comb or dress up their hair some women prefer to just put on the wig to get things done. This applies to all other races not just black women . 3. The third one is self awareness and most of those who are soo addicted to weaves just don’t know who they as a black woman and therefore goes with what’s highly accepted in the society . Lower self confidence..

No disrespect to black women but we love your natural hair that’s one thing that’s different from any other race of women . Wearing hair that’s not yours doesn’t make me attractive to you I love natural

I could careless if its a wig or weave my issue is the fact that black people particularly women are the only race out of any on this planet who spend and go out of their way to wear or mimic a texture that's not even close to their natural hair texture more often its straight and you cannot compare it to white people wearing wigs and weaves because they atleast choose textures that mimic their natural hair textures so dont even bother 🙄...unlike many black women who typically like to get far away as they can from their natural textures. Even wigs and weaves that mimic our natural textures look good but that becky bone straight hair is not natural to us no matter which way you look at it.. Imagine if the majority of white people around the world were walking around with kinky afro textured weaves and wigs it would look a hot dam mess and I think it looks a hot dam mess when a majority of us world wide even in africa are walking around mimicking eurocentric beauty standards. But to eaches own I'm just glad more beautiful black women are embracing their natural hair textures and they're atleast wearing wigs and weaves that represent their actual afro texture. But that straight silky blonde weave be looking a hott dam mess it doesn't flow with their beautiful bone structure sorry.. We come up with excuses saying its easier to wear wigs and weaves and call it a protective style but you can atleast get some hair that looks natural to your race of people instead of adding to the eurocentric beauty standards.. In the end anyone can wear their hair how ever they want its their choice but we can't deny that a majority of blacks around the world dislike their natural hair hence is why they straighten it to feel comfortable around the dominate society Europeans there's nothing you can say that can dance around that fact. Nothing is wrong with switching your look up at all that's the fun of being human but when your afraid to embrace your self and features fully that's where the problem lies. We are world wide a whitewashed race of people and the first sign of that is our hair just look around especially in the media yeah you'll see a black women in a show or commercial but the majority of the time her hair is straightened we are a brainwashed group of people not only is it embarrassing to watch but its sad it really is..

Great topic and love these🇬🇭 ladies and their natural hair! And true some black men adopt the white Euro standard and view of hair preferring long and straight, shame. I am natural and do braids my Ghanaian mom didn't care for twists but likes short crop afro like school girls. I had perms years but never liked wigs or weaves cause looks too fake but some black women enjoy it. So many layers, related to history of colonialism, slavery and warped European hair and beauty standards in but it is nice to have options as hair is an accessory. So I get it, nice to have easy wig. But then internalized conditioning of what type of black hair perceived as beautiful sad often 'soft curly' or straight types. Then yup Asians profiting off of this! I also do have issues when naturalistas hide hair under wigs & weave all the time so is it shame, or what's the point! Glad more Ghanaian women embracing natural hair and more salons doing it.
