Get one anyways! Our landlord doesn't allow a dog over 40 pounds. Obnoxious right?! We bought two boxer puppies anyways😂 they're now 60 pounds! Whenever the landlord comes over we go for a car ride or to the park with them:) You just have to train them, really clean up the messes they make, and keep the house vacuumed/cleaned!

A few days ago, i watched documentaries about how puppies that people buy from petco and those places are usually from puppy mills. People in these mills forcefully breed these poor dogs and abuse them, only giving them the minimum food the law requires. Thanks, buzzfeed, for using your fame to spread awareness about this ongoing issue.

The dogs that are at adoption events at places like Petco and PetSmart are dogs from shelters and rescues. Petland and The Family Puppy and stores like that sell puppy mill puppies which are usually bred by the Amish (at least in my area). ALWAYS ask where the dog/puppy came from before adopting!

He is definitely Scottish, that is for sure. I live in Northern England: the Scottish border is only a stone-throw away. I know many Scots, and have been to Scotland myself enough times to identify that accent. Scottish accents are so distinct. People forget that there are so many diverse accents in Britain... :(

When we went to a shelter when I was around 5 to get a dog, we got a nice big dalmatian, we were told it was a healthy dog and that she was 4 years old, turns out she was 10 and was sick, luckily we took really good care of her, she lived a nice life and we had a blast :) I miss her though.

We just adopted our amazing dog we named Luna she may only be a year but I was open to older dogs bug something about her felt right and that she was the one we had chosen each other. If any one considers a shelter dog do not limit your self by age no matter how old they are they can still carry that spark of life every dog is born with. Look them in the eyes and you will know. Hearts out to all the dogs and cats waiting for a new life

When I was little, my doctor found out I was allergic to most cats and dogs. My mom did some research and found out that there is a very special fur type called hypoallergenic meaning that his fur never shed or anything and was kinda made a certain way so I didn't sneeze or have an allergic reaction. She got me my bishon and we have been friends for 9 years so far. Take this into consideration, my friend. Good luck.

Just recently adopted a rescue. He's so sweet, I love him so much. The cool thing is his foster parents live just a few doors down so they can visit him anytime they want. They're also perfect when we need someone to dog sit. All around he's a really good dog, and if you're thinking of getting a dog, I definitely suggest rescuing them.

I adopted my Pomeranian about 2-3 years back when she was 8 years old. She is the cutest thing and acts like a pup sometimes. I'm so glad me and my family have given her such a lovely home to spend the rest of her years in. Right now she is very sick and I hope she gets better, but I wonder if it will. I love her to death, and I hope every day after this one is the best for her.

I just hope people realize that being a good pet owner is more than where you get your pet from. I know we don't want to support the puppy mill trade but getting a dog from a petshop and getting it from a shelter mean nothing if you don't have the time and patience to care for your pet properly or train it. Many people have returned their pets to the shelters they got them from because it was too much work or they didn't have the time or patience. And pet store pets can become shelter dogs easily. Where you get them from doesn't make a difference. Your just telling irresponsible people to go to a different place.

PLEASE STOP DRESSING ANIMALS. They're not dolls you can play with like your barbie and need no clothes, unless they have a very short fur and outside it's very cold. In all the other cases, as you can easily check if you do a little reasearch, dressing dogs and even cats is actually bad or at least very uncomfortable for them - it's just a whim of the people who own them. Pets are neither models nor cute toys, so they mustn't be treated as toys!

It's also important to adopt the older dogs as well. When I adopted, I was adamant that I would rescue an older dog from a kill shelter, one that really needed to be saved. Everyone goes for the puppies & kittens, which is good! But let's not forget our grown dogs who are even more confused, lost & hurt than they are!

we just adopted a puppy. he was abused and abandoned as a hunting dog. he has severe anxiety, and he improves everyday. people have said that shelter dogs are "messes up" but all they need is love and support. and once you give them that they can thrive.

My family rescued a dog once, Rascal we named her. She had been badly starved, dehydrated and abused. She was an awesome dog, very loyal and protective of all of us and we all loved her dearly. Sadly I have to use past tense as she died a couple years back, it was her kidney or liver that finally got her. Disease of some sort. She survived her ordeal of years of abuse as a puppy, then when she was with us she survived eating rat poison she had found and of course ate. She was a fighter and an awesome dog. REST IN PEACE, RASCAL, you whacky, butt nipping when we fought dog!!
