Thanks for sharing all these insights. I'm very interested in how you do the infinity test and also, any recommendations for that yellow grease you're using and the "red glue"?

First of all the red glue is a pain to find, I get it from Threebond and I believe it is 1401B. Many people use fingernail polish. Do not use on threads. As for greases, japan-hobby on eBay has great grease or there is NYE Lubricants. The trick is to put the right amount and not over lubricate so the great gets pushed out of the threads.

The focus is set using a good body with a split image viewfinder. When in doubt, I have a Pearl Auto-Collimator.

Do you just use regular hobby cement/glue for the rubber grip ring? Cheers!

the grip doesn't need a lot, I use contact cement and just put a small amount on the ring.
