I have a few favorite tools, but the toolbox my wife painted for my 1st or 2nd father's day and a couple hammers I got from my Dad are special to me. The tool box I got for Christmas at 12 or 13 that I still use and the socket set I got a little later from my parents rank right up there too.

I have an old spring-loaded punch that was my Dads', and it is definitely older than me. (And I'm old...haha) And I have an old beat-up rubber mallet that was my Grandpa's that doesn't get used much, but when it's needed, it never lets me down. I love your how-to videos the best, especially the little tips you throw in as well. Like lowering that gear one tooth during assembly. I actually, honestly consider it an honor to be your friend. Hanging out with you and your daughter at that big Bert's rally was one of the coolest things I've done in a very long time. Thanks, Jared. Eric in Kissimmee.

I have a stubby 1/2 drive ratchet that my great grandfather cut in half and welded a ball on the end(looks factory) to get into a tight spot one day, I'd imagine. Hands down my favorite tool in the box. It still works flawlessly, but any name/numbers were worn off long ago.

I don't have any old tools except for a very old crescent wrench that was always around since I was a little kid. Guess I should have said is the old trusty 10mm socket. Yeah I know, that was pretty lame. OK, the suspense is killing me. I'm ready for a full video of you going down the road on the Da Judge! Man, I wonder when it last traveled down the road! Any idea? Doesn't matter, as long as she is given a new lease on life and I know you are going to ride it soon enough. Keep wrenchin' and riding those fabulous old Triumphs! Stay safe down in hot Tampa!

It reminds me of the hammer that we had ( it was out of a toy set we had when we were no higher than knee high to a grasshopper) and the quality of that hammer was better than some other hammers I have seen on more a professional style, now 😢

Dang man, You make that look so easy... LOL if there were ever a good enough reason to have a chip put in my brain it would be to have all these old school mechanical badass things stashed in folders. Bajajajaaa. some self help medical files would be great as well I guess.

Is there a reason that you drove that bearing in using the inner race rather than the outer race?
@weemsmotorco Жыл бұрын
Great question. I do not have a drift the size of the outer race.

You're right to question this, its not the correct way to do it. IF he's done this work many times as claimed, you'd have thought he would've found, made or purchased one.....

I have seen some old parts books where gaskets aren't shown but it seems odd, just by doing some simple research you will find many gaskets for this specific age of machine and application. It was nice to be shown the alleged removed gear cluster, eventually, but is all the gearset "rusted beyond repair" or is that just congealed grease and sawdust? Undertstandably, time constraints may dictate an easy option if one happens to have a known good set to hand.
@weemsmotorco Жыл бұрын
Brooks, Triumph did not place gaskets on these surfaces until the early 1960's
@pauljefferies-w5q Жыл бұрын
Good job. But I wouldn't fit the bearings like you did. always drive in a bearing using the outer race, not the inner race.

@vorhese Жыл бұрын
@@weemsmotorco Hah there's a tool? No I do the camplate straight up. and insert with the quadrant centered, the visible tooth centerline of the hole. There's at least 3 different ways to do this I think, but I've ever done it this way.
@michaelhayward7572 Жыл бұрын
Ouch. Tapping let alone drifting a bearing on an inner race is a big no no. Don't do that kids.
