I was a preemie baby at 3 months 4 days, 1 pound 6 ounces. I spent 2 months and 4 days in the hospital after I was born, I had 8 blood transfusions, none of which came from my mom because we have different blood types, none came from my dad because he didn't care, they were all from a total stranger, a total stranger saved my life and gave me a fighting chance. The doctors kept using "if" statements. "If she survives" and won't statements "she won't be able to..." "If she survives she won't be able to walk, talk, feed herself, get a job, live on her own, be able to do anything without you always being there, etc." The doctors had my mom feeling hopeless, and on the verge of giving up, but she didn't. I was a fighter, I never gave up. I'm 20 years old now and constantly providing those doctors wrong. I'm so glad that your miracle baby survived and can help us preemie babies prove doctors wrong, some of us can fight, survive, and thrive.

You can do this. My mom had to leave my Dad because he was abusive. It was hard, we were homeless for a few months. I'm kid #2 of 3, and both my siblings had disabilities. My mom worked her butt off, and there were a lot of things that we all had to sacrifice. But we made it. I'm graduating college this year, my older sis is happily married, and my younger brother is going to a trade school. None of this would have happened without my mom, and her choice to stay strong. If we can make it, you can absolutely make it. Your kids will thank you for it. Stay strong, remember to ask for help when you need it, and know that I'm praying for you.

@Tay...I pray you had a healthy delivery of your baby girl. If he'll do that while you were pregnant what else wont he do. Get out for your sanity and your baby girls safety. But if you choose to leave never let him know because that is the most dangerous time. Get your thoughts together. There are many places that will help you with food, formula and a safe place to raise your daughter. For abusers its about control and it will only get worse, when they see your a strong woman. Never give in to their control. Please.

I am a twin and we were born 3 months early. I was 1 lb 5 oz and my sister at 1 lb 8 oz. Both we heart problems but I needed surgery as a newborn. The risk were high but we are both here almost 16 years later as healthy as can be. Thank you to those who gave us a chance.

My twin and I were born three months early as well. We both weighed 1lb 8oz. We just turned 19 on June 2. My sister has cp and we both have hydrocephalus and vp shunts to drain the excess fluid our brains caused by the hydrocephalus. I love the Reba show it helped me through one of the toughest times of my life. Every time I listen to the song it reminds me of my mom Kay may she rest in peace and my maternal grandmother Hilda may she also rest in peace and wished I knew her. No matter how many obstacles they went through, they were survivors. I came from generations of strong, gentle, and brave women which has been passed down to me, if I have any children I want to pass down the same strength, tenderness and courage down to my daughters just like my sister passed it down to her daughter and my brother passing down to his daughters. This song reminds me of my grandmother. I grew up in a abusive household and her trailer was my escape. I used to go to her house whenever I could and we would eat sugar wafers and watch Reba. Those were such great days. She passed in 2010 when I was 9 and I didn't think I would ever get past it and I haven't but I learned that's ok. I don't have to move on and its ok to cry every now and then. Reba takes me back to that comfort I felt around my mawmaw.

I was born at 6 months, they told my parents that my chances of making it were low. Many babies born more developed than me didn't make it. My parents were in that hospital all the time. My Mom stubborn woman that she was pretty much lived there till I came home. 💜

My mother died from stage 4 cancer in 2016. She would have turned 55 this year and i prayed for a long time that she would have beaten that horrible disease and would have been able to still be here. She never got to meet her granddaughter but my brothers and i will always make sure that she knows the kind of fighter her grandmother was and that even on her worst days she never gave up and did her best. Now she rests in complete and total peace and is in a realm where pain and suffering do not exist and i am comforted knowing i will see her again
