I understand what this song means because I've recently had to deal with someone like this named Terrance. When me and him got together, he told me he wanted forever with me, just like he did with the two girls after me. I wanted to stick with him, I never wanted to give up on him, but he did that to me without a single reason why or a word to explain. I feel if anyone needs to listen to this song, it's him hands down. Now, he treats me like I'm shadowed, like I don't matter.. like I'm not even human and I wish he would understand how much it hurts me. My family was right all along that I didn't need a jerk like this in my life and I should have listened from the very start. I hope my ex is happy because he now lost a person who really cared. When he starts to care again or love me again, I won't love him nor will I care..

James Mooney reba did not write If I were a Boy It was written by BC Jean and Toby Gad. BC recorded it first, no one was interested. Beyonce saw it and released it in 2008. Reba did a cover of it in 2011
