This bedroom scene and the Joan Fontaine's narration at the beginning of the film: "Last night, I dreamt I went to Manderlay again..." Sooooo good!

I don't know HOW Judith Anderson didn't win the Oscar for this... Arguably the greatest supporting actress performance in the history of film.

I completely agree. She had some stunning performances but, this leaves you awestruck of her talent.

In my opinion, she did not win because she overacts some scenes with exaggerated hand gestures and facial expressions and often appears overwrought when there really is no reason to be. A little less can sometimes convey much more.

It really is scary....and weird. Joan Fontaine is fantastic. Her body language is perfect. Mrs Danvers....you are a freak!

Just got to love Mrs. Danvers her devotion and love for Rebecca is chilling.. no wonder she is the only one who preserves the memory of Rebecca...

Yes !! Chilling is the perfect word for it. This movie is so well done in every way The shadows, the sense of foreboding the fragility of Joan Fontaine and the eerie meanness of Mrs Danvers. I could go on and on. This is Hitchcock at his best getting the perfect performances from his actors, staging each scene perfectly to build suspense. I am in awe each time I see it A masterpiece in every way🌟

This is true suspense... dark clouds hovering over bright daylight and you don't know where they come from.

Joan Fontaine and Olivia de Havilland were sisters and never cared for each other. I still enjoy their works though.

Has anyone who has ever read Du Maurier's novel, or seen Hitchcock's film, NOT asked themselves: "Who was MISTER Danvers? And what happened to him?"

Makes you think something was going on between Mrs. Danvers and Rebecca. Just saying...

she was her nanny...
@tobilou45303 жыл бұрын
@@marvel096 yes but there's clearly something more, an obsession, absolute love... How she talks about her, knows everything about her, even mentions the underwear and how she watched her naked O.O Makes you wonder if this love was reciprocal or if Mrs. Danvers just suffered silently.

Mrs Danvers....um...I think you need to get out of the house a little more. Join a book club or something. You are acting a little....strange...

I just read the most interesting book entitled "Suspicion" After the story the author claims that part of her inspiration came from this movie and the book that it was based on. Just watching this scene I can already see some of the similarities and so it makes sense.

I haven't sensed the sexual tension in this scene. Maybe because I found this scene the most nightmarish of the whole movie. I'll have to watch again.
