It really is fascinating how well she can portray a character when she has little interest in the source material. I remember after the first movie she was being interviewed by Stephen Colbert. He’s a SF/Fantasy geek and visibly deflated when Ferguson revealed she hadn’t read the book. Nevertheless, I can’t say her performance suffered for it in the first movie and I have high hopes for the second part.

The core conflict of lady Jessica is between a mother and a bene gesserit. Not only mother of her children, also mother to a messiah figure and eventually a people. The Mother won vs the bene gesserit order because she will do everything to see her children alive. Whether or not they're sane or happy is a completely seperate matter.

I really curious about her character in this one. In the first one she was portrayed only as this wife that lost her husband and it wasn't enough. Now I wanna see her as a warrior a rebelious woman.

After wondering why she hasn’t done interviews with the other casts and came across this, now I understand lmao

Jessica clearly is revolted by science fiction 'and all that annoying sh1t'. She looked around bewildered at the scenery and thought 'ah whatever they pay me to be some kind of space clown what do i care'.

She’s obviously not if you’ve paid attention to her filmography. She keeps taking sci-fi roles. She was just an astronaut a few years ago and Silo on Apple TV is sci-fi too.
