One of the most under estimated actresses out there. Her looks are unique and gorgeous. She brings dignity to any role she plays.

So true. I don’t think an American white director could have made this film so well.

Rebecca's American accent is so good that I never would have guessed she was British. From what I've seen of her work so far, she's become one of my new favorites in a short time.

For those who doesn't know, she has African-American ancestry on her mother's side. From a Guardian interview: "I think in any family that has a legacy of passing, it’s very tricky, because, sadly, you inherit all of the shame and none of the pride"

I highly recommend "Passing". The choice to film in black and white was truly brilliant. Everything became illuminated in shadows and the seasons were flowed in black and white unison. It all made the passing not just the focal point. Life was happening; death was hiding in plain sight. I want to watch again because I don't know what I saw on the last scene on the balcony. I say Oscar nomination is a must. The sad part is lazy people that think black and white doesn't bring anything to the screen. You must observe the lighting that tells the story.

I saw Passing and first I was shocked that it was made by a white person. Then shocked it was made by actress Rebecca Hall who comes from a very privileged background and this was her first directed film! With truth bombs about race in this movie! And I know it was based off a book but it takers a good director to capture the black experience without being Black. She has a big future in film and she is invited to the cook out 😂

@@TXGirlinVA Yeah in Britain a lot more white people than you think have Black heritage, especially around port cities. Regions where the romans landed in Britain. Black people have been in Britain since 43D but a lot of the pre-20th century Black population became white through interracial relationships because it was never outlawed in Britain. So when colonisations of Africa and slavery started, which led to the demonisation of black people to justify such immoral acts, led to white people with black heritage hiding their heritage because it became stigmatised. Jamie Oliver the famous British TV Chef, only found out that his great Grandfather was an African from central Africa on his uncle's death bed who told this secret as he died, showing the lengths British white people went to hide this due to the stigma created by British colonialism.
