That song was just a perfect representation of "cheesy" and so that's why it stood out as something alot of people can laugh at. But that is not to say that it was your fault ( since you explained that the company basically made that - besides the fact that it was meant to be a project music video for personal/ professional use - not commercial) not does it mean that you lack talent n potential to be a real singer. Most people would've taken down the video and resigned but you chose to stand up for it , and people applaud that. Youre a genuine person with a real heart. Okay, now I feel like a bastard for being so negative about her! It's so easy to forget that folks like Rebecca and Justin Beiber are just really kids, they're the faces of the machine so they get blamed for how little integrity there is in fame. I was under the impression that Rebecca actually wrote "Friday" which is why I was so horrified that something so banal was getting so much attention. I have to admit, Rebecca, I was not a fan of the song. I even made fun of it like so many and went with the crowd. But then I saw this. I laughed as much as anyone when 'Friday' came out (because yeah, it was silly AF, obviously), but as someone who was bullied myself, I've never been okay with crossing the line and actually attacking a young person whose public embarrassment became a worldwide phenomenon thanks to KZbin/4chan/whatever. I'm so proud of her for coming to where she is today. I cannot even imagine having to go through all the humiliation and the very real hatred that was aimed at her while she was just thirteen years old, and still coming out strong and determined. People assume that they have the right to make her feel horrible about the "mistake" that she made while she was that young. I use quotation marks because honestly, even if the music is not to the taste of the majority, she still had the right to take part in creating the video. She made something that she thought was fun and cool at the time. She put it up on youtube, not down people's throats. She DID NOT deserve to receive death threats when she was barely a teen. I've checked out a bit of her recent work, and I'm truly glad to see how far she's come. I admire her very much and do look up to her because of the grace with which she has handled herself. To this day she still gets the hate that started pouring in three years ago and she's working right through it. You go, Rebecca!

It's interesting to see how she ended up where she is. She took the shot of recording that video just because it was a fun project. After all the shit that she had to go through just because of that, the pain and the loneliness I think was worth it for her. I never hated you, but I disliked the song. You know, I was never one of those people who really hated on Friday, but I did joke about it and poke fun at it (and at Rebecca) just like everyone else did. Honestly, the slightly older, more mature me watching this video now feels like I have had a bit of an eye opener, and I think it must really take a lot to have to deal with the kind of pressure and life changes and hate that Rebecca has had to deal with since Friday went viral. I really didn't like the song, 'Friday' by Rebecca, but now that I saw her video on BuzzFeed, she was honestly just trying to know what it was like to make her own song and be creative with it, trying to fulfill her dreams of becoming a singer. I feel so bad for her because 'Friday' got a TON of dislikes (3.5m) and hate comments making fun of her. Plus, since her face was shown, so people made fun of her in real life too. Dear Rebecca, I know how you feel when you got bullied and all of that, and also I felt sorry for you when you didnt have any friends. When I was in fourth grade, it was a bully disaster. So in Fifth grade I had lots of friends. I had tourrete syndrome so they all helped me go through all of that. Until I signed up for a talent show and I won the auditions in my school. So when it was the talent show I was shaking until.when I went first I made to giant cracks from my voice and I cried with gallons of tears. I was singing the national anthem.
