i know this is an old video, but it’s just so ironic that Lilly calls the people criticizing her virgins as an insult. i remember watching one of her vlogs years ago and she said herself that she was still a virgin (at least at the time) in her late twenties and went on about how it wasn’t a big deal or something to be ashamed about. it’s just so disgusting and sad that she’s gone back on that stance now just to snap back at people criticizing her and her show.
@clashbloxblitz7892 жыл бұрын
Bro yes!! This is like my 3rd rewatch of this vid and those nasty comments she makes always felt. Weird. I thought it was kind of commendable that, as a 20-something psychology undergrad, she earnestly didn't care about what other people thought about her or her sexuality. When rumors would spring up Abt her relationship with Swoozie or other folks she collabed with, she'd be upfront and honest that she was a complete virgin. Sad how things have changed :-(
@crazy922blade Жыл бұрын
Yeah, it’s what some people do when they get any form of criticism. They have a defence mechanism that instead of trying to defuse the situation while keeping cool, (like most people), it’s all morals thrown out the window and they just immediately try and pick, poke and prod at the most common insecurities people have or known insecurities that a singular person has. I never watched Lilly but after doing some digging, you can definitely see the slowly inflating ego and cockiness (as Drew talked about) until it reached the point of, ‘who cares what I say? I’m ✨famous✨’.

The problem with Lilly is that she doesn’t accept constructive criticisms. So , she just sees these videos that help her improve her show and just passes them as ‘hate’ . This video actually had good advice for her , only if someone doesn’t like your show that they don’t want to help you improve . There is room for improvement, but Lilly looks so tired and stressed since she is pushing herself under this schedule. So my final thoughts are That being a T.V show host isn’t the thing for Lilly she was better off doing KZbin .And I actually enjoyed some of her KZbin videos.

Lilly was my favorite KZbin person in middle school. I hadn't watched her content in years and just recently went back to it this week. I actually fell out of watching her content before the late night show. Once she reached a certain point of success, I felt like her production quality skyrocketed but her actual content never evolved and it developed this insincere quality to it. And watching her videos now, they're not that funny, but I enjoy her videos before 2017ish because it felt like she was at least enjoying herself and she seemed likable. I feel like she lost that after she got more successful.

To the point of bragging on camera about being famous, it only works if you do it ironically, in a self-deprecating way. Conan is the king of self-deprecating comedy, and this is why he's so endearing. He's miles richer and more popular and than Lilly, but he STILL plays the "look what a loser I am" card whenever he's on camera. It's always about how goofy he looks, or how comically tall he is, or how Irish he is, or he pretends to be a fake creep with his female guests.

I think the biggest problem (besides the whole identity jokes which got old fast0 is that the most successful late night show hosts worked on other shows and not as headliners. Guys like Meyers, Conan, Stewart all worked as joke writers and/or secondary characters. They had years of collaborative training to hone their skills so when they got their chance they knew how to work with the joke writers and find a unique voice without being overwhelmed.

This was such a great watch- and I love how you've really circled in on the whole situation. As a teen NRI (non resident Indian ) in the Middle East, I was shown her vids by friends way back when her original videos were so relatable- miles away, (Indian) kids had the same experience with parents. It was amazing to see it being satirized. Then I just grew up and forgot about her. Read she'd got a show and was happy for her. Then the IMMEDIATE backlash hit and that got me intrigued to see her channel again after YEARS and realised her videos became UNFUNNY, unrelatable, very" LelePons- Hannah Stocking/ ex-Viner lame" videos and I never got around to seeing anything about her show. Her old videos had heart, humor and an organic element to it. It's now overproduced with quality of writing/humor being completely forgotten, just collaborating with other "celebrities" to promote their projects, it became clear that it was no longer ....fun. Found this video and I'm glad it got the points down for me. And this is the DEFINITION OF CRINGE, the words out of her mouth are only second to those egregious "movements/gestures/Tiktok-dance??" things she does when she thinks she's GOALS around the 13:00 mark. Really rooted for her back then but damn. Wish the best for her - She's definitely hardworking and an inspiration to POC, so I do hope she gets better projects and focuses on more quality that goes beyond her "identity". Thanks, Drew- loved your explanation of the KZbinr Ego! I like Liza Koshy and her KZbin Red show. She was HILARIOUS and so witty, with an insanely strong Pun game. Really no KZbinr should be given a late night talk show. Kids and teenagers are the primary demographic of every major youtube channel. KZbin itself actively discourages content for adults by demonitizing channels that aren't "advertiser friendly".

I wouldn’t completely count YTers out of a talk show but they really have to be worth it & can make up jokes on the spot. These clips of Lily are clearly read & prepared & it’s just not funny.
