Haha I know that feeling! I keep buying new books and now there is a whole shelf of them. 🤣 I should have a bit more colouring in an upcoming video so hopefully that'll be ready in a few weeks' time.

Wow!!❤❤❤ I love how this turned out! I have a few colouring books but I’ve only used pencils with them. I love the look with the alcohol markers and pencils on top… also love all your tips on choosing colours and layers. I may have to buy some alcohol markers someday. That colouring book is adorable.

Thank you! I only got into markers recently when it comes to colouring in, and it has been really fun using them! But of course, only for single sided books, haha.

Excellent work and I do agree about not comparing ourselves to other people. It can really discourage you when you do that and make doing art less fun. 🎉

I just love watching you do colouring in pages, I suck badly at it no matter what I try so video's like this always inspire me to try again, I have a really, really cheap set of alcohol markers, the brush tip is super hard and tends to rip my really cheap colouring book, they were both a gift so I kinda feel obliged to use them as to not be ungrateful, but even with the lightest of touch it's super hard not to tear up the paper, oh well never mind, really enjoyed this video! :D
@BeckyTregear10 ай бұрын
Oh that's so frustrating when the marker nib is scratchy! Have you tried them on smoother marker paper? Sometimes nothing will work though....😭
@Azkademon10 ай бұрын
@@BeckyTregear yeah I've tried them on different types of paper but none of them have been expensive paper (like Bristol etc..) the best one was hot press watercolour but I'm loathe to use them on my precious watercolour paper lol :D

Hi Becky beautiful colouring in as you know I’m a colourist most Alcohol markers yellow though pages.. and damage other pages.. there are videos on KZbin that show what markers yellow pages..❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊xxxx
@BeckyTregear10 ай бұрын
Oh that's a bummer! I haven't experienced yellowing as yet, so I'll keep an eye out for this. I wonder if it is the paper itself reacting with alcohol. Things to think about! I still colour with markers though because they're so quick, lol.

Hi Becky. Lovely coloring hack. Thank you for explain Values …I am learning color theory with a book I brought. I much prefer Luminance Pencils for coloring that Prisma (I sold my 150 set on eBay 3 years ago) brought Poloychomes 60set and the rest open stock ….really love your video thanks again xxxx Happy Swatching xxxxx

Luminance pencils are always lovely! I've just gone on a Prismacolor phase for the moment, probably because I've had them the longest and I wanted to use them a bit more.

I get nervous with markers that aren’t fine tip that I’m going to color outside of the lines a lot. You make it look easy!
@BeckyTregear7 ай бұрын
Oh me too, haha! I think the trick is to not hold the pen to paper for too long so as to avoid the ink spreading into the paper and going past the lines. Easier said than done sometimes, lol.

You say people should buy some Prismsa whites and I literally did that this week 😂 I normally have spare Caran d'Ache whites, but as I use those down I wanted replacements. I went to Senior Art, who actually have 20% off store wide this week (if you needed anything) and they had Primas, so I got a couple of whites and a couple of other things. I'm actually surprised you don't have the Color Cube. I think you'd like it for these pages with limited palettes. I also know you're a fan of pretty things 🙂
@BeckyTregear10 ай бұрын
Prismacolor and Caran d'Ache white pencils are both great! Prismas are cheaper though, haha. I have actually looked at the Color Cubes in person, when I went to a papercraft show and she had a stall there. The boxes are very large and I've run out of space in my studio for the moment, until I sort it out properly! 😂I may look at getting them in the future.
@lozantoninocreations10 ай бұрын
@@BeckyTregear I'd prefer Caran d'Ache again, but as in sure you know, they're not as easy to purchase in stores in Melbourne. All stores have prismas but only some have CDAs. Senior Art in the CBD is so tiny too. But at least they were much cheaper for Primas than my other city store Eckersleys which are so over priced for everything. Plus the 20% off was a bonus.
@Julie-vy3oz10 ай бұрын
I’ve heard other people talk about white pencils, but I love my prisma white and have replaced it a few times. I have a few Luminance and a few Derwent Lightfast, but honestly I use my Prismas more than either! Becky, what is the difference in alcohol vs the India ink like the Pitt pens by Fabre Castell in how they color?
@BeckyTregear10 ай бұрын
White Prismas are the best! I love them a lot. Pitt pens etc are water-based ink, and they tend to streak a lot more when colouring larger areas, plus a lot of waterbased pens will rip the paper very easily, and make it harder to colour over the top of them. Alcohol markers can be layered many times without shredding paper, and they leave the paper surface nice and smooth for pencils to go over the top. The downside of alcohol markers is they tend to smell bad, and also as you see in my video, soak through paper very quickly!
