OG VIDEO: • Joy Division - Love Wi...
ABOUT…
I am Rebecca and I am one heck of a passionate vocal coach/singer/songwriter/impressionist/health/fitness/self- improvement/anything that makes me smile!! I love anything vocal/singing related and geek out on it every day. I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2017 and my ovaries and fallopian tubes. The tumour was the size of a 20 week baby!! However, despite not being able to walk for a couple of weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…?
Also thank you for all your support. It means a lot.
Subscribe to Rebecca Vocal Athlete to get inspired by new videos!
Have a great day!!
Rebecca

Such a pointless video. They are telling us how to interpret musical lyrics now! The ability to think independently is stone dead now.

@kennygerberich4985 4 жыл бұрын
@@anonomousous Lol who's telling you how to interpret song lyrics? The individual in the video giving a very vague interpretation from their own personal experience, an interpretation that was even headed with the phrase "I feel..."? If you're feeling forced into thinking any sort of way by that, then you probably shouldn't be complaining about people's inability to think independently. You should just take comfort that they're not overwhelming you with numerous, varying opinions, because you seem to have trouble processing even the most benign views of others without feeling oppressed.

The vocals were recorded with the tape sped up, then slowed back down to create the slightly other worldly vocal effect. It was one of the favourite tricks of producer Martin Hannett.

Chris Wareham Martin was the man. Flawed but beautiful. Buzzcock’s (no Joy Division without them) first EP, Magazine, Mondays on Bummed, The High, New Order’s brilliant early stuff, basically so much for Factory artists, New FADS, the first Stone Roses tracks, even a U2 track.

@@carlosnavarro1091 Definitely the fifth member, and they acknowledge learning a lot from him. @@Daniel-gw2tb I read about it in a Joy Division book that was published in the late 1980s or very early 1990s - it included information about some of the recording sessions. Maybe someone on a Joy Division forum knows the author and title as I cannot remember :-(

It was about his affair and failed reconciliation with his wife. His medication made him depressed as well. Nowadays there are warnings on medication that “may cause suicidal thoughts”, not back then. Just a lot for him to handle, and between his affair, failed marriage, worsening epilepsy, he just couldn’t take it anymore. Btw, their song Control is about a friend who had epilepsy and died. I think she was a personal friend of Ian’s.

Boy... this brings me right back to that British wave of the '80s. The Cure, The Human League, Depeche Mode, Euythmics, FGTH (Frankie Goes To Hollywood, for those of us who live under rocks... lol) and my absolute mega "fave of the wave"..... The Smiths. The synth really came into it's own during those years after the... "what is this new instrument all about" in the 70's newness wore off. Speaking of The Smiths... lyrics of the day: "Ask me why and I'll die... oh ask me why and I'll die. And if you must go to work tomorrow... well if I were you I wouldn't bother... for there are brighter sides to life... and I should know because I've seen them... but not very often" The Smiths _Still Ill_ The Smiths were to the 80's what the Fab Four was to the 60's, just not such an instant insanity inducing love for a band. The Smiths influence was much more subtle and took many years to see the results. Love those years in music, so thank you for the second time today :) PS> Don't think I have ever requested a reaction, but something from The Smiths would be welcome :)

I love you for choosing this great song rebecca ❤️ the lyrics and the way Ian is singing it, I think it's so deeply honest. The love lost between them, one can hear how much he appreciated it and his mourning, "that something so good just can't function no more" The lyrics are so clear, direct and straight in your face... It's over, there's nothing to repair...too late, "we've taking different roads" Yet he sings it almost like a lullaby, so calm and so beautiful heart touching. It's a masterpiece. Funny observation here: when you paused the video to comment on the famous hook, you paused it while showing the bass player whose name is Peter Hook! I laughed ridiculously hard. 😂🎶 Did anyone else catch that? Thank you!

I love Joy Division but New Order is my favorite band ever. The group’s style did not die with Ian. They carried that musical sensibility and put an electro synth pop twist on it.

Interesting to hear your thoughts on Ian Curtis. Would you consider reviewing This Mortal Coil's "Song To The Siren" or maybe even Iarla O Lionaird's "Aisling Gheal" both of which have the power to bring this grown man to tears..

When I first heard of Joy Division, Rolling Stone magazine had a special edition called "The Top 100 Albums of the Eighties". Their second album "Closer" was picked to be on the list. I bought and liked it because it was depressing. Now my outlook has changed and I listen to JD simply because I've learned that things can always be worse. R.I.P. Ian Curtis.

Joy Division along with Nico's Chelsea Girls (Nico has a very strange but emotional voice, please have a listen to her) are so packed with pent up emotion, they have, and still make me cry, and that's a hard thing to achieve at 55. Although I never saw Joy Division live I did see New Order playing their first gig in Wrexham when the ice rink held a new wave festival called Futurama in 1883. The funny thing about this video is that the drummer is clearly playing another song altogether--it doesn't take much to figure that out! The song that launched a thousand mopes around the world, along with most anything by The Cure, of course. Your fellow English folks laid some serious groundwork, there.
