Prince's live performance of Purple Rain at the Superbowl in a driving rainstorm was extraordinary. Prince, the other musicians, the dancers all performed beautifully on a slick stage in heavy rain and wind. Prince's guitar playing was out of this world at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame event for George Harrison. Must see.

Purple Rain was the first movie I took my High School sweetheart to see on our first date. Man! That was 40 years ago! Unbelievable! Wait. I just realized how old I am. 😮 Anyway, I went out and bought the album immediately and learned how to play this on guitar and sang it to her to the best of my limited vocal abilities. Yep! It impressed her! 😎 So much so that she is still my wife 36 years later! She’s still gorgeous and keeps me young! At heart anyway. 😊 Thanks coach for bringing back an awesome memory! ❤

Prince is amazing! The man checks every box. Taught himself to play over 20 instruments, has a 41/2 octave vocal range, wrote thousands of songs (many were hits for other artists) is a fantastic dancer and had all the ladies. Definitely check out some of his earlier work and then move forward. Maybe go back to 1981 and check out Controversy or Sexuality....or 1982. Check out Little Red Corvette or 1999 from his 1999 album.

YES! he was waaay ahead of his peers and dare I say even more well-rounded than MJ. Prince got the instruments and his voice working for him. he was a more bold businessman in command of himself. His problem was being too real, too experimental, too creative and too controversial for the general society. A lot of big rock stars of the 90's cite him as being their idol and inspiration. that says a lot. he owned the high pitches and the head voice ran with them. kept wearing make up as ppl "outgrew" the 80's glam rock..he spoke out against the unfairness of revenue and royalty systems of the record industry in a time they could make or break an artist. he had balls of steel. The fact that he uses every aspect of his act as an instrument stood Prince out from any living being I've ever witnessed. He uses his voice as an instrument while his instrument as his voice, and even the way he dresses, dances, and even looks all played into the song. Not going to turn this into another MJ vs Prince debate, but I will say, I've seen great MJ impersonators, and even some great Elvis impersonators, but never have I seen a good Prince impersonator, because he was just more than a singer and look, he was one of the most unique individuals ever born, and its the uniqueness as well as his ability to tie it all into his act that makes him impossible to properly encapsulate by one guy.

IF you want more of Prince, I would recommend When Doves Cry, shows off a lot of his vocal range and skill. Now if you are interested in Grammy Award winning acapella vocals that are on another level listen to Pentatonix(won 3 Grammys so far) Daft Punk Meldey, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy(yes they do a lot of Christmas sonds), and Jolene with Dolly Pardon. Other amazing acapella groups are Home Free and VoicePlay. Just a warning Acaapella is a deep long lasting rabbit hole of vocal amazing skills.
