I think that a lot of KZbinrs/resale influencers affect the prices as well. Not purposely, but a lot of people watch these videos and think they can all do the same thing so it gets over saturated. Then goodwill is like, "Oh, they're using our stores to make money, so let's just do it ourselves instead." No offense to any KZbinrs, I love watching these videos and appreciate them. I just think it could play a role in it as well.

GW watches resellers on youtube bragging about how much they will resell something they got at GW and want in on that business. NO surprise they raise prices, hurting all of us non-resellers. The bubble will burst eventually, i hope. Also resellers in my area have ruined the fun of thrifting for us! They practically live at GW and Salv Army basically forcing non-resellers out of the store. They bully the workers into setting things aside for them - wrong and unethical!

I was a full-time reseller for years and got out of it at the beginning of the pandemic due to being immunosuppressed. (I was also going through a divorce, which didn't help matters any.) Anyway, I went back to school for my master's degree. i finished that in December and no one will hire me because I've been self-employed my entire life and am about to be 40. Apparently, that makes me a bad employee? So, I've recently started reselling again. I didn't realize how much I missed it!

I love all of the KZbinrs like yourself that are trying to help us all out and I totally appreciate your hard work. As an old-time antique dealer/vintage clothing and jewelry dealer I have to say that I was always taught if I sold something and made out well that the worst thing I could do was to brag about it because everyone would copy me and lower their prices to be competitive. I honestly was shocked at how much bragging and sharing of business secrets happened when I first looked at KZbinrs doing this. How much money you make is like a trade secret in my book and it used to be that way in the antique shops. If you sold something you didn't go around telling everyone how much you made on something because people would be jealous and nasty about it at times. Also many times we were selling family heirlooms and it just wasn't nice to do to customers. I do think it has hurt the resale market to be so open about it in the way of rising prices at the thrift stores but then again sometimes I see things marked higher than I know I could ever sell it for and I think good for them if they can get that price! Then there is the inevitable mistake on their part and it has happened to me many times! The longer I am in business the more knowledgeable I become and an old label that I know people collect or my knowledge of materials many times has paid off over label shopping. I often purchase what I like. I go to church thrift shops mostly and many of them are ridiculously cheap in the rural area I live in. Good luck to you and to all the resellers out there! I think we are all doing a service to the planet by doing what we do! Thank you for your fab video!

In the past, if you reveal your secret, you got nothing back but hurting your business but in the youtube era, people make money off of the video they post on youtube. If you have large followers, the money you make through youtube can be a lot more than what you earn on ebay…. So people have no problem sharing secrets because their goal is gaining more view, more subscribers, make more money on youtube.
@beauxmimi77 Жыл бұрын
I was under the impression that you had to have an astronomical number of views in order to make money or at least any good amount of money on numbers of viewers. In addition it seems to me that some of the the dealers can make up or inflate their luck or shared news just to attract people to watch. I know many dealers who just enjoy bragging about their sales and when you watch them all day at a show nothing leaves ther booth yet they say they made a bundle.... buyer beware!
@hp4415 Жыл бұрын
@@beauxmimi77 yes, some people faking it to get more view. You are right about you meed to get a lot of view to earn real money. But people have to start somewhere so you will see people with only like 1000 subscribers or less still doing it.

I resell also but find it amusing that sellers complain about the high prices at GW , etc but we have no problem buying a $6 item at GW or almost free from the bins and then flipping it for $60 for example. The buyer is still paying a grossly inflated sales price whether they purchase it from an online seller or the GW. So GW is just another highly successful reseller….

I really can't see large companies being able to keep up with selling preowned clothes in the long run. It takes too much time and money for them to inspect items and to list one item at a time. It isn't really worth their time + cost of labor. Big companies thrive off of selling multiples! As for Goodwill they are just being plain greedy they get their inventory for free. They should just focus on having a high sell through rate! I just got done doing my taxes and owed a lot more than last year so I hear you. I am definitely going to be putting more money away this year to be prepared for next year since I plan on growing my business.

The prices are definitely crazy, but you just have to get creative and start selling things that aren’t that familiar. The world is a financial mess right now. I’m here in Denver. Prices skyrocketed about 8 months ago. What I’m noticing is yes, they are marking up some designers but they miss a lot and a lot of thrift stores are so over loaded with items because of the price hikes, they’ve started more sales as of late. My local thrift stores still have tag sales but I’ve noticed an average of at least 2 50% off sales a month. Check consignment stores, rummage sales and the best part of spring, GARAGE SALE SEASON! Stick to shopping for the season and if you come across mass fall/winter inventory for cheap, buy and store a few bins that way you’re ready to go by the end of the summer. 👍🏼

I agree. I was appalled when a worker at the bins said that whatever doesn't sell is going in the trash at the end of the day. I didn't even have time to look through a fraction of the stuff. I have one an hour from where I live. They open at 10am and close at 1pm.....then open back up at 3pm and close fir the day at 6pm. So you only have 3 hours to go through all the stuff unless you want to hang out for 2 hours and wait for them to open back up later in the day. But there's no other thrift stores nearby to spend those 2 hours. GRRRR

I’m so happy I found you Rebekah, I love how authentic you are and how you are willing to give us timely and honest advice on what to buy/what not to buy, and the nitty gritty of actual reseller life. I’m in Southern California and I work in Santa Barbara. It’s a very wealthy area (one I can’t afford to live in and therefore I commute very far to my job everyday), so the items that come into the thrift stores in Santa Barbara are higher quality but priced accordingly as the thrift stores have to pay a higher rent, a higher wage to the store workers who are struggling to live in the area, AND because they know (or hope) that the people coming in to buy will also pay more because of the location. So when I thrift on my lunch break, I am VERY careful and always standing in the corner running comps on my phone. If I thrift in the city where I live, the prices are cheaper, but still a lot higher than I would expect to see, so I’m careful everywhere now but I agree, things are changing. As far as the taxes go, I owned a resume business for 10 years and that was my sole income so I hustled and totally understand the fear of taxes. The way I overcame the fear was to set a % I would pull and put into savings to set aside for taxes for each order. Perhaps if you set aside .50 or $1.00 for each item, you will feel more relief when it comes to tax time? Thank you again for what you do and BTW, I named my daughter the exact same as you, spelling and all ❤

I've only been reselling for three years, but I already see it coming to an end. No Goodwill bins in my area, and the Goodwill stores have gotten crazy - jumping prices up by as much as 200% on stuff that wasn't selling in the first place, and the racks are stuffed with low end brands that people don't want at their new prices. Other stores are slightly better, but even they have doubled some prices. I still occasionally manage to catch brands that the pricing folks aren't familiar with, but that's pretty rare. I hit three thrift stores today and bought one item.

Just FYI Goodwill launched their online website in 1999!! I would like to add as an old lady who has been around, that resellers have been picking thrift stores for inventory forever...seriously, I worked for a vintage store in the 90's and employees would go to thrift stores to buy inventory for the shop...this was prior to Ebay and internet selling. Why do people seem to think reselling thrift store clothing is a new invention?? Why do people seem to think Goodwill selling online is a new thing also??? Sorry but inflation is every where right now and that is the reason for higher prices every where including the thrift stores. Restaurants have higher food costs and it gets passed along to the consumer, people don't eat out as much, restaurants are going out of business because of these things. The same will happen in many industries including reselling businesses. My best advice for surviving the economy right now is... find cheaper inventory that sells.

The waste factor in fashion is insane.The equivalent of 1 garbage truck full of textile waste is thrown away every second. 11.3 million TONS of textile waste goes into the landfills each year in the US. Don't even get me started on plastics. Can you imagine how long it would take for a pair of Crocs to disintegrate in a landfill when one pampers diaper takes over 500 years to decompose ? A couple things 1. Your're a business owner. What you do is not a job. It's hard work and investment business owners do in hopes of a making profit. 2. Competition and higher prices is good. It forces us to get better and think and work smarter or get out of the way of those who do. 3. Thrift stores are mostly for profit stores now not charities. 4.Goodwill outlets will continue to increase prices and resellers must be prepared to adjust and find and CREATE new ways to get good stock. 5. You can buy cheaper and better if you open a physical location. You can also accept donations. 6. Study business and support and defend Capitalism. Those who win understand both increase their odds of success. 7. Think, act and dream bigger. Believe in yourself!

Your content is great! Yes, many larger thrift stores are looking to get the MOST from a donation and that means upcharging on quality items. I was a branch manager of a goodwill in the mid 90s. I’ll sometimes buy half off color of the week but even that’s too much. We also have a Goodwill concept that is apparently a local thing cause no one else has ever heard of it. It’s restocked every weekend and Monday everything is $1.25, Wednesday it stops to .75 cent and Thursday is .50 cent. I have to price my items very strategically to make a decent profit but it's tough. Side note: Goodwill CEO make $500,000/yr which is considered high for a non-profit. Goodwill online shipping prices are OUTRAGEOUS!! Salvation Army is far more reasonable with their shipping prices, the items they have on auction aren't usually as nice or at least in as many numbers as Goodwill for some reason but the deals are still there to be had. I generally just stick with bags for the online thrift auctions. Prices have been going up everywhere. I live in a VERY small town, actually 30 minutes from the nearest very small town. I have 3 thrift stores in this town I will go to. I used to be able to walk out of the thrift store with 5 bags full of REALLY great items for $20. Now, it is about half that. The nearest bins to me are an hour and a half away. Not close. I do not go to them but would like to. I have been reselling for 2 years now. I actually get a lot of inventory from selling with Flyp. People send me their items and I pay nothing for them until I sell them and set my commission always at 60% and I pay nothing to flyp or the client I just pay the client their 40%. I just pay the usual seller fees from Poshmark. Which are ridiculous btw. But that is another story. I guess that is how I have been able to compensate for the hike in prices that are only going to get worse. The thing is that it is or has become "cool" to shop second hand now. When, for decades it was not cool at all. I have been thrift store shopping since I was able to drive. I would always find a thrift store. In the days before google maps it was like a quest to find all the good thrift stores in any town I went to. lol. It still is. Just WAY easier. But anyway. You asked, that is my take on it. Or at least what I do to make up for the rise in prices and the lack of good labels to choose form at the thrift stores because of both the rise in popularity and the whole online auction sites for GW and SA, that and the amount of people giving reselling a go. Until they realize how much arduous work it really takes. Thanks for putting out all your info. It is cool that you do that. I wish I would have had all the info you share two years ago. lol

I agree the pricing is cray-cray. I don't think it will last in its current form because most of the overpriced things are not selling and then I scoop them up on dollar day (now $2 day though). That's my main source these days as the closest bins is at least 2.5 hours one way and very competitive. So I go to several stores on dollar day (driving 2-3 hours instead of 5) and supplement with the one small church store that has not yet jacked up prices much. And sometimes Goodwill makes mistakes the other way too. It just takes a lot more looking. And no I never source online or through liquidation any more as the ones I tried in the past were pretty much overpriced garbage. But as depressing as this sounds, I still seem to have lots of inventory to list!

I just came from my favorite consignment shop and the things I wanted were $18, $20, $25, $39. Those are prices I would be reselling an item for. And I don't have thousands to buy pallets or returns. I saw that Juicy Couture is also buying back some of their items to resell on their sites too! And don't get me started about the auctions...which IMO killed my biz on Posh-I'm not confident enough to do an auction on my own (I'm 67) but when I watch them, most auctions sell every single item!! I sell on 3 platforms and I did ok until the auctions came on in Dec 2022. I am very discouraged.

Goodwill in our area also goes over all donations keeps the best for themselves then pack it up and mail it so it can be listed online on their website.. they price those things up to online...Now all that is left at goodwill are things you dont want for reselling and PRICED UP for example Gap for $20???... so yeah its gotten really hard to find anything worth it. All they have is stuff I would never get for my business. SO I have gotten myself a full time job as I see the writing on the wall.. at least for me. I have about 4 months worth of things I still have to list so I will sell what I have already. These are things I had hoarded over the winter for spring and summer and once that is over that will be it. It was fun but its been ruined for us smaller resellers sadly. Not only by what goodwill and thrift stores are doing but those lives on poshmark.. resellers selling things for $5, $10, $15 when I was selling them not too long ago for $50 and up!! Ive seen great brand names selling for $3!! like what the heck? Anyhooo its coming to an end for me at least and it is scary, but I cant have these up and downs...I need steady income. Thankfully the new job is pretty great and not so lonely at home like I used to be. Now I have people to talk to etc hahah and getting a nice steady check. It is a nice change..OK well wishing everyone the best!

Goodwill is such a scam! They get all their items donated AND since they are a supposed 501(3)C, they pay ZERO Taxes!!! I feel all resellers should create their own 501(3)c nonprofit, so we won't have to pay tax either! We could donate items to homeless shelters after they have sat in our closet too long.

Thrift store prices in my area (Southern Ontario, Canada) are off the charts - I often see thrift store price tags next to an item's original dollar store tags for 4-5x the original price!!!

I only just started reselling this past year but I definitely have noticed prices getting higher. The worst part is it’s not even logical or consistent. I’ve seen random pieces marked up higher than they’re even selling online. One day I found a pair of vans I was going to get for my boyfriend to wear for work shoes and they were just basic vans marked at $35. I asked someone if there was a mistake because an identical pair in a different color and size were half the price. They said no, our manager finds things he “likes” and marks them up 🥴 and then another day there was a pair of AF1’s. Good condition, but not brand new. Marked at $150. They said oh yeah, they’re special order, so we marked them higher 😊 they’re only special order because they are a men’s size 13 or 15 or something that very few people wear lmao. But I always wonder how many of these things just end up in the bins anyway because they’re getting so greedy about prices. Also don’t get me started on charging hundreds for terribly made fake handbags. It just makes no sense at all. There’s plenty of stuff I’ve found that I wouldn’t even buy for myself at their prices so I can’t imagine someone with a much lower income being able to afford them. It’s honestly sad the greed has taken over when it’s supposed to be non profit. But glad to see someone has a similar view on it that I do, love to see people talking about it.

I’m in Northwest Arkansas. We don’t have a decent outlet nearby.. we have one but it’s tiny and not worth the visit… but our Goodwills are still pretty fairly priced. I’m so thankful they haven’t started price gouging. They mark up some items, sure, but it’s not crazy. And our inventory is pretty great. Grateful to be where I am, I think it’s the best case situation even without a decent outlet.

I have a question about pricing inventory on Poshmark and eBay. A lot of people say the key to success right now is to search for items with at least 100% sell through rate….lately when I look up sold comps on eBay almost everything has been sold on offer and there is no way to know it’s true sell through point. Watched Mogi Beth today describe her horrible weekend sales and her pricing strategy….anyone likes an item…immediate 30% off offer and then on Sundays 40% off! I do not do price like this…I start at comparable sold and this explains why im receiving ridiculous lowball offers. All these stupid coupons and robots have ruined reselling

I went to my favorite thrift store, they now reorganized everything and have seperate vintage section, and separate lululemon section… and now its all priced crazy expensive. I also worked at goodwill 5 years ago pricing softlines. They gave us a list of brands that needed to be priced higher. Then once you complete a whole rack of tagging, the manager comes and checks through and would tell you to retag and charge more on certain pieces.

@Andrea Flynn and that's probably why so much winds up at the Goodwill Bins. I've seen it my own eyes - used Lucky Brand jeans for $24.99 and if they had just priced at $7.99 or so, could have made 8X the return vs. the $1 they will get if it happens to sell at the bins. Otherwise it is trash.

My local Goodwill prices have gotten insane for many things. Pre-pandemic they were already a little high, but manageable. Now, even things I might purchase for myself to wear I think twice about because the cost is so much higher. Mine prices by individual item, too, so they'll have a pair of beat up converse for like $20, or an old worn out jacket for $30-$40, and I'll be so confused. Their pricers definitely *miss* a lot of good items/brands, so I can still find things with a good profit margin, but it's harder than it was a few years ago. Their holiday sale days are when I stock up, as things are 35% off in the morning. Otherwise they do a weekly color tag at 20% off, and I can pretty much never find any items in the store with that color tag. I questioned an employee about this once and he claimed people show up early in the day and take all the items with the tag, but honestly I don't think their pricing would make even that worth it for most people, so I'm dubious about that explanation. My other pre-pandemic favorite thrift store actually kind of sucks now. They don't seem to have a quality control person, so the merchandise that makes it to the floor has gone downhill. They recently started selling online, too, so I think a lot of the "good" merchandise is there. On top of that, they don't run nearly the sales they used to have, so I barely go there anymore. My Savers is super overpriced and I feel like their coupons are always so limiting, but I do still find good stuff there--when I can get it 20-30% off. I still manage to find stuff at all these places, but it takes a lot more time to fill a cart than it used to.

Great video! We just got a GW bins in my area and the price per lb is $2.49!!! I haven’t been yet. I resell as a side hustle/hobby. The increasing prices is frustrating. Unfortunately, thrift stores are increasing prices, but guess what? They’re keeping their inventory and not selling the high priced items. I sell a lot of bread and butter brands and a ton of my own personal clothes (recently retired professional). I don’t find a lot of expensive brands or designer items in my area. If I were a full-time reseller and dependent on my sales to pay my bills, I’d have to consider another side hustle, a back up plan or go for quantity over relying on the occasional big ticket items.

My goodwill outlet is very small. They don’t switch out the shoes and clothing more than once a day. I go first thing in the morning on Mondays when everyone else is at work and you have to be there when the doors open to get anything. I also hate how resellers are catching the blame for goodwill raising their prices. Goodwill was going to raise their prices regardless. They also have a long history of corruption and taking advantage of disabled people. I am also convinced that shop goodwill participates in shill bidding. I have seen some really sketchy stuff. I have bud on something with zero bids for days and suddenly the bids go up within a few minutes. Also I have had some of my orders cancelled and items relisted at a higher price.

I really don’t shop at Goodwill anymore. I’m not a reseller, but it’s just too expensive for the most part. I needed an old record for a gag gift at the holidays and the ones at Goodwill were like $4+ for super scratched up records in sleeves that were falling apart. Thankfully, we have a local thrift store with a few local locations that directly benefits the community. They have raised their prices slightly, but they rotate through their stock frequently due to rotating color sales of 50 and 75% off. We also have some consignment stores and I’m really not opposed to paying up a little bit more for clothes there, but they also do a 80% off sale and $1 racks where I’ve found great stuff!

Here in No California the Goodwills don’t even seem to have good brands any longer, probably auctioning the new clothes they receive for free. On top of that the prices are sky high. Over $20 for dresses. And now the bins are charging $3.99 a lb. I have no thoughts of making real money as a reseller. The one decent independent thrift left has just started charging over $20 for any shoes that might be resellable. So far their clothes are still only $6-10. But the handwriting is on the wall.

I live in a small city in Central Alberta, Canada. Our thrift stores are outrageous with their prices! I drove to a larger city last week and only came home with 14 pieces because their prices were so high. I guess I'm not sure why they are pricing out resellers. We purchase a ton of their goods and keep inventory flowing. Also,.I'm not sure why someone would buy second hand if they can buy something new at say Walmart for less. I also noticed that there was a ton of Shein on the racks. What's going to happen to reselling when that's all we find in the not so distant future?

I have noticed that (possibly to resellers over charging on their listings) that due to me listing a max of $15 over what I paid buyers are only "like" items in my closet. I don't go to the "bins" I travel within the US to find treasures at estate sales & yard / garage sales in Texas. I think I should start "over pricing" items in my closet so I can make $10 - $15 profit on items.

I don’t go to the bins bc they are two hours away (Nashville). Goodwills here are trash. We have 10-12 thrift stores where the profit goes to the homeless population in Knoxville. The prices in those stores are very expensive. They have a boutique area where NWT items are marked 50% off the tag price. Those items sit. Jeans are $10, dresses are $11. Any item that they think is worth more is marked up more than that. I saw a Patagonia M long sleeve Tshirt today for $14. It’s crazy. My profit margin is LOW.

I have had to really get more creative on my sourcing. I make offers and get some things off of Marketplace. I watch for free clothing giveaways and fill a sack sales. I watch and bid on local on line auctions and buy box lots. One or two items might go on my selling platforms and then the rest I use for our annual town garage sale and a once a month flea market at our local antique mall. Doing this locally saves shipping costs and also puts some lower priced items that I don't want to list at costs that make it easy for people to buy. I will sell anything and do not limit myself to just one niche.

Just bring water, a fanny pack with your money and snacks, confortable shoes, a pop up chair if you need to sit in between, and some gloves. Pack your patience too. If it is your first time make sure you learn your particular bins' rules from the staff when you go in, and maybe don't go for the new rotation when it comes out till you get the feel for digging as it can get ruthless. I personally don't fight people for the new bins because everyone is looking for different things and I end up finding designer $100+ items in the bottom of the bin after they move on to the next bins because I know my brands. Just my two cents but it is always a fun time for me. I wish I was not so far away. I would go every day.

It is truly inflation and everyone including Goodwill and Independent thrift stores are affected. I believe we have to ride out this storm. I have a Last Chance Goodwill very close to me. Not a lot of great brands but I pay .50 an item. Now to make good $$ I have to figure out how to sell a lot. I am trying out WhatNot which is hard because you have to build a reputation and people want to buy on the super cheap. . I have a Goodwill bin about 1.5 hours from me and lucky that I have to go to that city for my husband's doctor's appt every month. I told him we have to go to the outlet every time we go and make sure to get there early. Other than that, I decided to put together lots for ebay and bundles on Poshmark. I don't have room to store 1000's of items since we are in a 2 bedroom townhouse . I am determined to make some $ with this inventory and hoping to find better inventory as I go. Thanks for the video. I also plan on starting my youtube channel based more on life skills with one video a week featuring reseller content. There are sooo many channels out there now with resellers so I don't want my channel to be all about that because I am new and don't have anything more to add than what is already out there.

Hey girl!! I’ve been watching you for a bit and just really enjoy your vids and wanted to chime in… I started about a year ago sourcing from GW and it’s taking me awhile to figure this out!!! I have several Gw stores around me but only one gw outlet and NO other real thrift stores. So, now I really only shop the racks at GW, not the priced up section. I used to go there first thinking the only “good stuff” would be in there. But, I’ve found that it’s just not worth it most of the time. I find enough in the racks that the store missed and priced regularly. I still browse the priced up section for those really great finds but not nearly like I used to. And yes, my GW is also charging crazy prices for basic brands. My ACG is usually $5-$6. I’m in western NY state and not near a super urban center so I don’t find as much higher end stuff but I still find great brands. My experience at my bins or outlet is kind of disappointing…I have never found anything good there, and I find it too time consuming and frustrating so I really don’t go that much. I rely on sourcing from reg GW stores and finding nuggets that they missed. I also have a Savers in my area but they really price up, and I find it not worth it. I wish I knew a reseller near me to source with bc I go alone!! I don’t even have anyone or friends to go with but that’s ok. It’s kind of my zen time, stopping by even for an hour is relaxing!!! So, my advice to all new resellers is to shop racks first before paying up for stuff you won’t make as much profit from!! Also, to skip on cheaper brands even nwt or great condition, I’ve done this too but if you pay $5 for an item and can’t resell for $25 or up, it’s not really worth it, IMO. Just learn the brands to look for and be choosy about what you buy. Experience is the best teacher so it does get easier but it can be overwhelming. Anyways, just wanted to say Hi!! And wishing you good luck w your move and your business 😎

Luckier than most I guess. Fortunately we have finally entered garage sale season but I’ve noticed increased prices at those this year as well.

I'm basically $1.5 sundays or finding high value items. Idea to find $20 item for $15 isnt worth it. Eventually it prices out though. Luckily I have a other thrift place that just local called win win and they much more reasonable and I buy from them a lot and they realize I need to make little and buy more from them to so its win win. My thirft stores are selling some clothes for $80 and up I found a jacket the other day they wanted $200 at a THRIFT STORE! Makes me very angry!

Well I hope and figure they racks at the thrift stores will be so full at some point they have to lower prices if half is still to high no one will buy even the sales at some point they will figure out they're charging to much if nothing sells .

Thrift stores in my area in Canada are expensive for reselling. It was better 5 years ago. Now with inflation it just doesn't seem worth it.

Just a question for resellers on here, when you sell clothes you got from the thrift store or whatever, how do you determine your prices?
@margierose05 Жыл бұрын
Love this format! Next time, maybe put the camera on the side so we can see the stuff you're photographing too. I agree with prices. I've branched out to other categories that thrift stores don't price high... but it's hard

Omg so you said shop Goodwill. I made that mistake super recently. I bought a Kate Spade dress that was on sale for $18 that if in good condition as they stated would sell around or near $100. Well I got the item and the seams on both sides of the back are ripped apart. In my opinion as a seller that is not good condition that is fair condition. Im trying to get ahold of someone to do a return who knows if they will honor it. Also how many listings do you post a day? Been wanting to ask that for a while not haha. ❤

$18 for kate spade is kinda high.
@stephanieswitzer909 Жыл бұрын
@@nureauamerica definitely, but it was the style of dress and the comps that sold me! But I wish I had you to retell me that before because if they don’t accept it I’ll have to hem it myself and hope it sells still 🥴

Same prices are so high at the thrift stores. And the Bins get very competitive by me. I just posted a haul but if love to do a work with me because I loved watching this video

And a lot of these marked up items end up at the bins where they often go on to the landfill. Also the government is robbing small businesses and other regular people

I only have thrift stores near me, and mine don't price up a lot tbh. I also prefer thrift and consignment stores over the bins. Also taxes omg lol I have to pay 15k in taxes this year which is fine. Part of the game, but dang lol. Hope you have a good sales month girl

My new thrifting strategy for Goodwill. Identify and locate 50% tags. Comp to see why GW had them marked up so high. Calculate if I can profit off the 50% discount. Figure I may as well let them do some of the work for me while I'm paying so much!

The bins here in Phx has gotten really bad. It’s never been great but now they are pulling pretty much everything good. I rarely go anymore.

The Phx bins switch out policy waiting half the day where they close the floor is ridiculous. I won't go anymore. The Tucson bins are sooo much better. Half clothes, half hard goods and open all day with no waiting for the switches. As with any day so are good and some are so so as to what you find but I always make a goid profit due to low COGs. I think it is 1.89 a lb now but way better than Phx. I live in QC so it is just under a 2 hour drive. I stay all day when I go to make it worth it.

That's what bothers me about the thrifts near me going up so much in price. They're not charities and all the items are donated. Just greed I feel like. And resellers aren't the ones driving up the price because I'm way less likely to pay a higher price for something I'm going to sell versus something I'm purchasing for myself

I love postmark….but those really beautiful clothes are being bought up by resellers and every day people aren’t getting them. So, we are part of this problem unfortunately.

If Resellers didn’t BRAG, BOOST, and sometime LIE on most social media sites about how much money they are making on thrifted items, then the prices wouldn't continue to rise!
@kareeadams712 Жыл бұрын
If goodwills goal is to eliminate the reseller they are going to end up with a whole lot of trash. The same thing happens to me when I get greedy. If they were smart they would cherry pick some for their online site and never raise the price at the bins. If they miss a few good things then that is ok they are helping people who depend on this stuff. That’s resellers and personal shoppers

I do not have a bins store near me. I do much better at local thrift stores! Goodwill prices are insane. I saw a broken tupperware container with no lid for 7 dollars. 😆 .. I do still look because often times they miss things! They always realize at the register and have tried to change the price claiming it was a mistake. 🤨

I was at the Bins purchasing a used movie and the item had 2 discs so they told me it was four dollars instead of $2. On principle I left it.
