That was the essence of Beatle mania. In 1964, when the Hard Day's Night was shown in Michigan, girls screamed insanely loud. The manager stopped the movie twice, begging girls to not scream so loud. It didn't work.

Rebeka, you are a doll! Some perspective from an old Beatle origin and a fan of your young generation. They where all born during WWll. Before America had ever heard of them, they had their 10,000 hours of hard work put in in Hamburg's "clubs", shall we say, honing their skills. Although Ed Sullivan was earth shattering, people forget that President Kennedy had been killed barely 90 days past. The super energized release was the world trying to smile again. They did it, influenced by our early rock and rollers. KZbin videos of their Australian and Hollywood Bowl concerts are the best!! It's impossible not to smile in case you need one that day!

I learned guitar and piano since I was 7 with their songs (now I'm 33). And the girls screaming all the time was one of the reasons Beatles stopped doing live shows in '66. They couldn't hear themselves while performing on stage (back then, it wasn't any In-Ear Monitoring on live shows) 👏👏👏Great job, Becks. As usual 👏👏👏

Lennon's lead vocal with that high pitched rock voice is incredible. The harmonies are really tight with Paul & George & the overall musicianship is excellent. Pop/Rock N Roll at its best. The Beatles were so good they didn't need any other bullshit.

They saved the record industry at the same time initiated so many new stars and talented musicians, the force certainly was with them and they had each other, to check each other's ego, so they remained humble and down to earth and even at that, we all knew how great they were. When I saw them perform live in '64 they sounded just like their records they were so spot on, it amazed me, and they still do to this day, I'll admit I was heartbroken when John died after being shot, and that wound has never healed or left me, I thought of them as I would my brothers, and they've yet to ever let me down. I loved them all passionately for their pure inspiration. God bless the Beatles!

Oh thank you for expressing this so well.I was also lucky to see them live in Cardiff UK in their early days.It is impossible to overstate how they did not just change music,but blew in a wind of change that gathered its own momentum through fashion,art etc,etc.It was glorious to be even a tiny part of itand oh how it escalated ...band after wonderful band .We just took that music so forgranted.Just watching this little video had my heart racing as it did when a teen.People don't realise that here in the UK we only had two TV channels so the chances to see them were limited .Do you remember how we cut out every photo we could find to cover our walls and scratched their names into our leather school satchels.I may be old now, but I got to live through the best time ever .Wasn't it just glorious!.Like riding a wave!

I remember those days. I was lucky enough to see them live in Atlanta Georgia on August 18th 1965 at Fulton county stadium. I love the Beatles and I miss those sweet simple days. Beatles forever!

Their live performances are exactly like the recordings - exactly. The key word is fun. They wanted to play music that people could just relate to without having to analyze everything. Just groove and enjoy and most of all smile and laugh. This is a time and musical experience will never happen again. You had to be there and I was lucky enough to be 13 years old in 1963. All of the girls there are grandmothers now and they all remember happier simpler days..

Simple is what music was at the time. But it was totally different that what everybody else was doing. When the Beatles hit, they hit like a hurricane. The Beatles were an entirely different experience. And they innovated and dropped more bombshell songs after that, with progression on what they had built before. Every bit of music you hear today stems from a contribution from the Beatles. That's how much they changed and influenced the music scene forever.

You just witnessed what is called Beatlemania. Here in Seattle they were brought to the hotel in an ambulance. Also the hotel is right on the Puget Sound and there's a famous picture of them fishing from the balcony of their room. As all bands back then the biggest influence of all rock bands were the American blues.

Buddy Holly and the Crickets started the modern day band a few years before the Beatles , but it was them and their musical playing and writing ability that paved the way for the thousands of bands of the next 60 plus years to come. Nobody has come close to doing what the Beatles did and most likely, no one ever will.

Ah yes. I was a teenager in the 60s, and we all waited in anticipation for each new song by The Beatles. Great times. There is a tribute band called The Fab Four who do a faithful and accurate and fun tribute to The Beatles. And watch out for the guy who plays as Paul. He even does the talking to the audience thing, just like Paul did.

It was a different era and I'm not sure the same kind of thing would be possible today. You have to realize that their audio equipment was simply archaic, they were playing in an auditorium with a sound system that wouldn't match the average one in a home of today. The Beatles were actually only together in the world scene for a short time but were still able to reinvent themselves over and over again. As for the young girls, they literally could not go out anywhere without security as they would get mobbed. If one of them went into a store, the word went out quickly and soon there would be hundreds of young women at any location they were seen.

One question for the cameraman at this show. Was this guy allergic to John Lennon? He singing co lead on "I Want To Hold Your Hand" on "Money" he's singing lead and on "Twist And Shout" he's the lead singer. Kinda amusing looking back on these old clips because Paul was known as the cute Beatle that the girls love do you always see a lot of him. John was known as the witty Beatle and was the dominant one in the group as songwriter and lead singer between 1963-65 and yet in these early performances you see Ringo on the drums more than John. The thing that stuck out to me on this video is the date at the end, December 7, 1963. That was exactly 22 years after the Japanese attacked the US fleet at Pearl Harbor launching us into World War 11. Also it was almost two months to the day that The Beatles were introduced to America on the Ed Sullivan Show on February 9, 1964. Over 73 million people tuned in that night to see these guys and is still the largest television audience in America too watch a TV show 58 years later. Last, it's exactly 17 years and 1 day when John Lennon was murdered on December 8th, 1980 being shot 4 times in the back by a crazy Beatles fan, very sad. I heard you say that it was a simple act which you enjoyed but you have to realize that this was 1963. In those days the technology just wasn't there yet to support a band of this magnitude. Think about this, they only had 25 watt amps for their performances to these crazy fans. They couldn't hear what they were playing half of the time let alone the fans, it had to be kept simple. I saw them live in Pittsburgh, Pa. in 1964 at the age of 6 and there were over 12,500 screaming fans there ( most being teenage girls) and from the count in on you could hardly hear anything but just experiencing an event like that stays with you forever. Every Beatles performance from 63 to 66, their touring years, they only played for 30 minutes for fear of their and the fans safety. You have to realize that these were like barely controlled riot situations. Unless you lived through the Beatlemania years it's hard to understand for younger ones today. The latest one is BTS now are bigger than the Beatles. Please, enough already ! Back in the late nineteenth and early 2000's it was NSYNC and The Backstreet Boys were bigger than The Beatles. Where are they now? Trust me on this one, 50 and a hundred years from now nobody is going too remember or give a flying f_ _ k about BTS, NSYNC, The Backstreet Boys, Drake and your Ariana Grande's of the world but you can bet that The Beatles will still be known and listened to just as Beethoven and Mozart are around 200 plus years later and you can take that to the bank. They were and still are that important to the history of recorded music and popular culture. These four were the game changers in music history and still are 52 years after they split up. When people who study music theory like professor's (you know, people who unlike us actually know what they're talking about) are asked where The Beatles fit into the history of music in western civilization, the one name that always comes up is Beethoven and often followed by Mozart. They will then state that The Beatles had a hell of a lot more music and most of it is catchy as hell. They will then tell you that the likes of Beethoven, Mozart and The Beatles happens once about every 200 or 200 plus years. That's how special these four young men were. The Beatles aren't going anywhere certainly not in my lifetime and certainly not yours. They will be around a long, long time after we're both dead and gone. You can Book It young lady ! ✌️☮️💕👌

There had never been a band like the Beatles. Individual artists like Elvis and Buddy Holly and singing groups. The Beatles all played instruments and sang, something new to music. After their American debut on the Sullivan show in 1964, the whole direction of teen music took off like a rocket.

True...we were lucky in the midwest because a lot of big stations were playing I Want To Hold Your Hand and others as early as Fall of 63. Thank goodness, as the boys had maintained they did not want to go to America until they had a number one here. Then they arrived in Feb of 1964 and we saw them for the first time on TV!

The song “Money (That’s What I Want)” is a cover version of the 1959 Motown hit. “Twist and Shout” was a cover version of a 1961 R&B song which first became a hit for the Isley Brothers in 1962.

RE: your "it was vey simple music " comment, it was but only at the beginning. They soon began evolving and experimenting and actually used the studio technology like another instrument. They literally "played"the studio " as another instrument for Sgt Pepper, Revolver,White album,Ab bey Road, etc. They were extremely influential. The music evolved again and again which is what made them last for so long and still be regarded as so influential. They disbanded over half a century ago and here we are still talking about them.

Yes indeed, the very simple, no complications at all, is the best, something like less is more. The next shows the Fab Four held at USA, in the next year, 1964, led from massive TV ratings in Letterman`s Show, to a stunning and crowded stadium shows, the first band to set the trend, touring hughe stadiums performance. 'Twist and Shout' legendarily had to be recorded at the end of the album, before John's voice finally gave out. ''It nearly killed me...' he later admitted. A defining performance that the Isley Brothers probably weren't altogether concerned about. By then their backline included a guitarist called Jimi Hendrix...

best early Beatle video I know of - from Australia, 1964. it's about 30 minutes, the recording crew left equipment running and got extra footage ( so it seems ) all high quality. ps I've seen short clips from Beatles at a soccer stadium and it looked like 3 /4 guys.

They recorded the whole concert for Channel 9 TV called "The Beatles Sing For Shell" (Shell Petroleum), but their manager Brian Epstein said the entire concert could not be televised. So some songs ended up on the cutting room floor. Of the songs cut, the audio remains and parts of the vision. Recorded at Festival Hall Melbourne 17 June 1964 and shown on TV 01 July 1964. This historic concert tape was rescued from a builders skip when Channel 9 in Melbourne was under going renovations about 30 years ago.

The secret to the music was the melody with the beat that reached orgasmic crescendos of "ooohs" "yeahs" and howls before an instrumental, all of which would always be followed by the audience screams. i Rebeka - THAT was called "Beatlemania" all the girls shrieked, some fainted. I lived through that time - the adults were upset about the long haired ones, but for the youth it was a revolution. And that it was something good, time showed. If you don't know the Beatles, you missed the best time. My favorite songs are from the legendary album "Sgt. Pepper`s Lonely Hearts Club Band"...

I remember going to see a couple Beatles movies in the theator with my older Sisters. Thoughout the movie there were flashbulbs going off constantly. BeatleMania Baby!

I am 23 years old and I'm a big fan of the Beatles. I love their songs. I love the Beatles after their separation to 😉 The songs of George Harrison like "My sweet Lord", "Dark Horse", "Stuck inside a cloud" or "Heading for the light", "Handle with care" with The Traveling wilburys. I love the band of Wings, with "Band on the run", "Getting closer", "Venus and Mars / Rockshow" etc... And Paul solo : "Maybe I'm amazed", "Too much rain", "Try not to cry", "Your way"... Of course, John Lennon ! 😉 "Imagine", "Gimme some truth", "#9# dream" (played after by REM)... Well, Ringo... I don't really know his songs 😅. "Goodnight Vienna" (with Lennon), "6 o'clock" (with Mccartney), "It don't come easy" (with Harrison), and his cover versions of the Beatles songs : "Love me do" and "I call your name" (with the Traveling wilburys Jeff Lynne and Tom Petty). 🙂🎸

When the Beatles came to New York two months after this performance, it was a stunning conquest. November 1963 the President had been assassinated and frankly the whole nation was still in a complete state of shock in February. The Beatles, performing on TV, were so new, different and talented that they provided us all with a welcome relief. Even my parents watched them with us kids and approved of their music and style.

I remember the Ed Sullivan show appearance, 1964, and immediately started hounding my mother that I needed Beatles bangs and boots right away. I was 8 years old.

They were an awesome live band. I saw them in Chicago in 1965. Could barely hear them with all the screaming. Good sound mix.
