I remember that way back in DPPt era. In Worlds, Professional players doing Rock-Paper-Scissors at the World Championships using Team Galactic's Wager. If you have skill, play Dan. If not, run other cards becuase its just another underrated draw card.

Looks like we mainly agree. There are only a few cards that I would have rated higher: 1) Sigilyph: It is a nice 1-off in both Malamar decks and Dragapult VMAX decks since he places damage counters with his ability and can be used to knock out a damaged VMAX most of the time without giving up two to three prize cards. Would have rated it one or two stars higher. 2) Toxtricity VMAX: With Speed energy and the electric engine this deck is much more consistent than it looks on paper and also has a decent Dragapult VMAX matchup. 3) Dubwool V: Malamar needed an additional cleaner and Dubwool V fills this role well in addition to Mimikyu.

cheers for the reply, for me sigi doesn't get in above many other 1 ofs mally can play and is unlikely in dragapult unless they play their own squid engine. As for Toxtricty, i am a big fan of the deck but i can see it struggling against mill/1 prizers which put it below the top rating possible, but i agree he slaps! as for dubwool, yeah potentially a better option than tinachomp or solglunala in mally but once again no real guarantee for it, also with the return of scrapper and lysandre, mally may be in an awkward spot going forward

@@OmniPoke I would value Sigilyph more than Espurr especially in Dragapult VMAX due to his lower attack cost and having a different weakness is never bad. Toxtricity VMAX and Dragapult VMAX sure are the top Pokémon cards in this set as signaled by the marketing. Tool Scrapper is indeed and issue versus Malamar but most decks tend to run only one Tool Scrapper and Malamar can run Lana's Fishing Rod to retrieve one Spell Tag. Malamar still is the one 1-prize deck that remains viable. Blacephalon will have a terrible hard time versus at least two Dragapult VMAX builds. I also agree that speed Zacian V will be the new face of Zacian V. Still sceptical that Zamazenta V will make it into the deck despite the fact that VMAX are clearly taking off. I assume that they will push Tag Teams out of the format with only possibly Pikachu & Zekrum being left due to Tapu Koko V and especially Boltund V.

This format just sucks now. All non gx pokémon have no chance unless they oneshot or control/mill Also all decks currently could beat all the decks from 3 years ago,they are making cards way too good to fast. The only New pokemon i like is dragapult v/vmax since it cant oneshot easily

Training Court is better in Frostmoth decks than Viridian because you can play Full Bucket to dump energy down from deck still but once a single energy hits the discard, you have an extra energy each turn without even having to discard a card from your hand. You can run out of energy easier if you use Viridian.

Ninetales V seems perfect for Welder Milotic. Welder to it and attach water for turn and steal your opponents altered creation for the full effect

Zacian resists grass so rillaboom has a real hard time hitting its numbers. It kills everything else with its vmax but needing to discard 3 energy for 2 prizes stinks

I don’t agree with some of your rates, but the cards your pick for 5 star is pretty spot on. Charizard and Grimmsnarl V and Vmax can come in handy. Dark and Fire Types both have cards to regain those energies back.

I wonder if people are sleeping on Malamar V/Vmax with their ratings. With a Galar Mine, confusion becomes a real, real pain , to the point that its almost equivalent to a fluffy cotton. Couple that with maybe a memory energy on the Vmax meaning you can brain shake to confuse another Vmax pokemon, then max jammer to both KO them next turn and also remove any card you want from their hand could be really powerful. Dont forget that psychic pokemon are still going to be hugely prevalent in this format. That 180 is enough to OHKO a Dragapult Vmax

I have been testing the turf field stadium in a roweggs deck and rather then using supergrowth twice to get the rillaboom vmax out on your second turn you are hitting for 280 and putting a ridiculous amount of pressure onto your opponent to respond

Hey, I think you're treating scoop up net as if it gets your attachments back to your hand, judging by thr way you mentioned it during porigon z shenanigans, but the card says it discards all attachments, and that includes basic pokemones if you scoop an evolution. The card is good, but I think you're overselling it a bit.

Well, you could possibly play magneton that searched for 3 supporters by knocking itself out... With Lt Surge Strategy and 2 Will, you could go: 1. Lt surge cause your opponent took a prize 2. Attach 4 speed lightning, 4 draw energy and draw 12 cards 3. Will and super scoop up to guarantee the heads 4. Repeat 2, 3, 2 and draw 36 cards. And that's provided you set up porygon z and magneton with non of the above mentioned cards prized. 😅

I think you are underestimating Intellion VMAX's first attack. Team Yell Grunt + Hammers + First attack is disgusting for any deck that doesn't have fast energy acceleration. Just looking at the top tier decks. ADPZ can never pull off alter creation unless they play turbo energy switch, Dragapult VMAX is countered hard unless they play Malamar, Welder decks not named blacephelon are going to have a hard time because they are weak to water, and even henry brand's nice little Ultimate Mewtwo list will be hard countered if intellion V decides to play Mimikyu or just get rid of all their energy. BUT I will admit it gets beat by all the new lightning stuff coming out. I would say that is probably the only thing keeping Intellion VMAX from being a major threat. TLDR: It beats a lot of top tier decks and it's better in practice than on paper :) EDIT: O and mew will be mostly irrelevant because of the vitality of Dragapult VMAX. So that 60 bench snipe plus other damage counters will have longer mileage

jamming hammers and grunts into a deck that may need double stage 1s already sounds rough to me, it probably is a headache for adp and no-squid pult lists but the staying power just isn't there, you can still get bullied out the game by toxtricity/pika/boltund stuff too...like i say in the video, just play dragapult!

Awesome video! Tons of good info here, and a lot to think about. Main thing I'm thinking over: this might be a terribly naive question, but does Scoop Up Net provide enough value to make it into the main list for, say, ADP Zacian (or any other two-prizer deck)? There are a decent chunk of uses, as you listed: If you have a one-prizer active, it's as good as a switch, plus maybe some bonuses of using the same ability twice, clearing out some spread damage, or giving you a free bench spot. Jirachi is obviously the main thing that comes to mind there. If you have a Mewtwo and Guru benched, it's a VS seeker than makes you put a card from your hand on top of your deck. If you have a Zigzagoon benched, it can be an extra +10 damage. A benched Giratina can turn it into an extra E-Hammer. A lot of the effects you'd be able to re-use weren't played in the first place Is that enough to make it played in those decks? You can't take Switch out for it, because you still need to get Zacians out of your active. The downside of the list of options there is that you need to have them already prepared. I generally run Zigzagoon if I need exactly +10 damage for a threshold number; Scoop Up Net can help Zacian hit 270 the second time, but that's a lot less common than needing to hit it once. Likewise, scooping up a Mewtwo only comes up after I've used or discarded the supporter once, and then Mewtwo-ed one back a second time. That often means my scoop up net gets me my third play of the supporter. Still a powerful effect, no doubt, but is a VS Seeker that requires two cards to already be on your bench to work really that powerful? If I already have a Guru on my board, Rotom Phone gets me any card from the top 5 of my deck instead of any supporter from my discard, also at the cost of topdecking a card in my hand, with no need for Mewtwo to already be benched, and that was a 1/5 rating. If Scoop Up Net turns into a Vs Seeker in that situation, Rotom Phone turns into a super-powered Trainer's Mail, with an extra card viewed and the option to get non-trainers, while needing less setup. This is a legitimate q: you know the game very well, so I want to know what I'm missing. Are you forecasting that yes, this card is good enough to make it into ADP Zacian lists with just a few tweaks, maybe adding Mewtwo and Zigzagoon? (or in other similar decks that still use 2- and 3-prizers as their main attackers?) Or that it's powerful enough that decks will completely revamp their support engines to get more use out of it? (Inteleon or the Jirachi prism thing becoming a 10-card block in mainstream decklists, maybe?) Or that it'll enable powerful enough shenanigans to give rise to whole new decks? I definitely see some abuse potential for it in new decks, but I'm not sure if any of those decks become good enough to be meta.

Btw, one walling idea you didn't mention there: Donphan/Coalossal could be a fun deck. Between Last Chance Potion, Hyper Potion, and Scoop up Net, you've got a lot of ways to clear off the 120 damage and be back to full health. The fact that the last 2 discard your energy isn't a problem when Coalossal can accelerate two of them out of the discard. Coalossal is probably a more important addition there than Scoop Up, now that I think about it; the energy recovery/acceleration is a far more important piece than the 9th-12th heals, especially since the first 8 let you keep your damage boost. Bit unfortunate for it that it's coming out in the same set as Boss's Orders, gusting around the Donphan and hitting the Coalossal is the obvious counter (maybe twin energy or Welder can help?), but could be something fun there.

I think there was a little confusion when you were discussing Oleana - unlike something like Pawniard, it can target any Trainer card, not just Items It still probably won't become an auto-include in control style decks, but having the combination of getting to see your opponent's hand while potentially denying key Supporters makes it a potentially enticing one-of

How is nugget really only seeing 2 cards? Isn’t it seeing 4 cards. Nugget+draw3? For decks that run acro bikes i think this would be better. Only extra spot needed is oranguru. Acro bike is 3 cards keep 1, nugget is 4 cards keep 3

If you want to see if full buckey will help your frosmoth deck then just go on ptcgo and put in professor's letters in your deck and try it out in expanded I also would use rotom phone and oranguru instead of jirachi mostly for budget
