@robertdrexel20433 күн бұрын
Exactly! My own head canon for the overall background of the R-22 Spearhead is that it is a cheap and easy to produce planetary defense force fighter. It is mainly a precurser to the later RZ-1 A-Wing but doesn't sport the high speed engines or hyperdrive of the later A-Wing. Thanks to it being quite easy to produce many cells would have either actually bought or stole these fighters from said PDFs or if they were supported by someone with some money and had the ability to do so would have produced their own R-22s. The only issue with the design was that one they didn't have hyperdrives and their actual speed wasn't all that much similar to the late model Z-95. Still it did sport a pair of laser canons and pair of missile launchers which made it quite well armed for such a lightweight and small fighter.

The mining ships had lasers that could burn through a ships hull, allowing the assault troops to take the undermanned ships. Lando also had his ships heavily slave rigged (This is star wars version of saying it could be remotely flown). This was to save man power. He had a Dreadnought Cruiser as a base, but had it heavily slave rigged to save the 10,000 plus crew, he also done it the mining ships, hence the reason why he was able to take control so easy.

I always assumed the rebels started out with whatever they could get their hands on, basically military salvage and surplus, 2nd hand market, retrofitted vehicles the people rebelling already owned beforehand, and as the different cells would connect, they started swapping around equipment, where you would stop seeing a collection of ugly squadrons (ugly meaning mix of different ship classes) to becoming more standards squadrons depending on who needed what in which theatre and who they were able to connect with. Basically goes from whats on hand to some slight standardization as you wouldn't have a T-16, Z-95, Auerek, V-wing, and a lets say cloakshape to becoming just a mix of Z-95 and cloakshape, to eventually an actual squadron of each located where they can operate the best.

How long would depend on if in this scenario, Count Dooku survived or not. Though with the weight of industry that Sidious had set up for the Republic, about to turn Empire, I think the war would not have lasted long, especially with so many senators from both sides wanting an honest peace. But with the thousands of warships and millions of clones rolling off the assembly line for the introduction of the Empire...the Republic and the Jedi would have won. What happens to the Jedi order after this is anyones guess.

Day forty seven of asking Eck my question: #AskEck Why do you think the pirates kept grogu, there was quite obviously a bounty on him considering all the hunters with tracking fobes and I doubt they wouldn't have known about it, so we're actually protecting him. My theory is that after he was saved after the purge, so senator or rebel group hired these pirates to protect him, but was eventually captured by the empire or forgot about grogu, (why he was never given to the new republic after the war), and the pirates not knowing he was a jedi just kept and raised him till mando showed up, killed them and stole their kid.
@jeffreycarman21853 күн бұрын
In my view, there is only one explanation as to why a whole team of mercenaries would put their lives on the line for Grogu, that is someone paid them to do it. I am not sure I want the answer though. If the mercenaries were not paid to protect the child they themselves would have collected the sizable bounty. Another possibility is that the mercenaries were not, in fact mercenaries. Instead these fighters may have been what was left of The Path, that was the Star War Underground Railroad for Jedi. It is kind of sad that so many Nikto are assumed to be the bad guys. These particular Nikto may have been part of the beginning of The Resistance.

@chrisheitstuman63603 күн бұрын
Cortosis is brittle, and it was rare that a Mando would go blade to blade with a Jedi. On a battlefield, having your armor or weapons shatter from artillery or close explosives is likely not worth the hassle of maybe running into a Jedi.
@jeffreycarman21853 күн бұрын
@@chrisheitstuman6360 good points. It may also be that, because of Cortosis being a very rare material.
@Rohirin2 күн бұрын
@@chrisheitstuman6360 That's a good point. While cortosis is normally brittle and not good for armor, in the book Thrawn: Alliances, the CIS developed a B2 Super Battle Droid covered in a cortosis armor which made it impervious to blasters and lightsabers. If that's the case, then why couldn't it be woven into Beskar? Would the nature of cortosis cause problems with the process of making Beskar'gam? If it did, then would and under weave layer work? Yeah, I know the story is fiction, and writers can and do make up whatever they want to make it work, but I hang out with writers and their habits of random nerdy thoughts have rubbed off on me, lol.
@chrisheitstuman63602 күн бұрын
@Rohirin One could argue that they didn't have a source, but there are a couple reasons I suspect. The CIS droid was a specialty unit amd you will note that impervious to blaster fire and lightsaber, both energy weapons, don't really produce a concussive shock on impact against cortosis becuase the energy is siphoned off to fast for the plasma to turn other material into a flash steamed Shockwave. The droids were made ro only go after Jedi, not run through a battlefield full of rockets, mortars, artillery, near turbolaser impacts, thermal detonators, near miss laser cannons, concussion bombs etc. To outfit an entire army with such a specialty armor would be disastrous for a "modern" army on a generalist battlefield. Mandalorians seem to beat Jedi, and everyone else, by being able to throw everything and the proverbial kitchen sink at an opponent to take advantage of whatever weakness in tactics or equipment their opponent may have had. Rockets, wrist rockets, an anti-armor rocket, wrist mounted blasters, flame throwers, grenades, hand blasters, slug throwers, and swords being the generally accepted norm for Mandy's to carry...and also independently airborne capable. So I think cortosis is a very specialty item that trades away too many advantages for the Mandalorians who were intent on taking entire planets in large scale battles, vs a unit specifically designed to fight only Jedi. Phrik however is likely a material that they would have used. Not as specialty as cortosis and lacking its abilities, but in the running with beskar.

Long winded yammering to get to the point. My sources are novels, video games, comics, and the essential guide to starfighters. Before the game changing force multiplier that is the xwing, the alliance had more specialized fighters. The bulk of space superiority and planetary air defense rested on the z 95 headhunter. Sleek, agile, adaptable, but a bit slow, the z 95 was a reliable fighter in the hands of a skilled pilot. Once the alliance became an actual military force they upgraded the engines, laser cannons, and shields to improve the headhunter. Bombing runs were handled by the y wing. It was tough, durable, adaptable, but slow. The rebels upgraded what they could but the bulky space frame kept the y wing slower than the more nimble z 95. A skilled pilot could dogfight in a y wing if necessary but it was a much more difficult task. Surprisingly the rebels also made use of modified bulk freight like the millennium falcon, outrider, otanna, ghost, ect ect ect. Usually outfitted with components deemed illegal by the Empire for use in "civilian vessels ", the modified freighters could act as strike support, force recon, extra bombers, and even help clear fighter screens. Every quality ship had an outstanding pilot to match! Once the alliance got theirs mitts on the x wing, it became the dogfighting craft of choice among the alliance starfighter command. The venerable z 95 would still see action with the outer rim militias or older alliance units. The headhunter slowly gave way to the xwing and became more of a training ship. The alliance would go on to produce the awing to combat the newer faster tie models, and the b wing to add more punch to the bomber corps.

#askEck what large ships had a cloaking device? The only ships I’ve heard of with cloaking devices are the TIE Phantoms. But the line from ESB implies that they’re more common in larger ships. Which ones?

Likely not. The X-Wing was everything against Imperial doctrine.

Lando stole the ships so it makes sense that he would put something in place to prevent someone from stealing the ships from himself. That is how criminals and con men and scallywags think

#askeck How many Jedi do you think actually survived order 66 because Disney is probably going to keep adding survived Jedi and I know some people that hate having more than a few Jedi surviving but they don't understand how many Jedi there were during the clone wars and even if there was a few hundred Jedi that survived it would be a small percentage

#askeck can you talk about the "emergency ship"? it's a minikit collectable in the first lego star wars game. it's such a weird ship & i've never really heard of it. as a kid, i didn't know many of the niche minikits you get in the game, but the game came out before episode 3, so i haven't seen the movie yet. since the game also has clones disguised as jedi (& maybe other ep3 stuff that didn't make the final cut, i don't know), what is the emergency ship? where does it show up & what does it do?

@@galaxyforever70367 so it's just a firetruck? do they do anything else? or show up anywhere? i know we have firefighter B1 droids, but these civil things just seem super niche. medical droids & ships & police forces show up in andor & clone wars, but it's still somewhat weird to have a firefighter ship only show up for -like- half a minute on screen, right?

#AskEck: I was wondering off a space weapon or missile, that is deployed from a capital ship and has a hyperdrive built into a weapon then it jumes into hyperspace, coming out of hyperspace and destroys a enemy fleet from the other side of a system. is there an example of this in Star Wars if not what are your thoughts on this. Just a random idea, love your videos.

#AskEck As a game master who has had to portray and act as Stormtrooper npcs I would like your advice on what is a lore appropriate and sensible way to do that. From what I've already done I've depicted them as a '9 to 5' working Joe or akin to an overworked police officer when they were in a civilian setting or as soldiers when in combat scenarios. In general I try to depict them like marines, a specialized segment of the military but not so specialized that they would be considered special forces. They have been depicted as bumbling goons so many times in the things that I've seen that it's hard to get a bead on how they are really supposed to act. Thanks
