We have been blessed with Part Two of the Rebel Moon Saga. I actually think the first chapter was better than this one. This series of movies should have had time to breathe a little and be a Netflix series and not a three-parter imho. I hope Part Three is better but I will reserve judgment until it is released.

How did they get Anthony Hopkins to be part of this?
@yikesreviews
@yikesreviews Ай бұрын
@flippert0, I would like to know that as well. Sir Anthony Hopkins is someone who can literally do anything and people will watch it. To reach a point in your career where you can elevate the entire film by your voice is god-tier skill. When he talks I paid attention to the film. I respect Sir Anthony Hopkins and his career choices.

Tony was doing voices of some of his famous characters when he was recording his lines, Snyder told me he’s such a cool guy. I’m guessing you’re asking this in an insulting way as in he’s too good for it? What’s weird is many people I spoke to that was part of the movie were proud of what was made, unfortunately Netflix pitched the idea of making two movies and so we’ve not really seen the actual crazy full movie yet

Like Judi Dench, Hopkins is at the stage of his career where he's a bona fide legend and he's won every award there is. So he's going to relax, goof off and take roles that amuse him or that he thinks the children in his family would like.

Well said, I found myself losing interest in this movie with in the first 30mins and ended up being unable to watch it through. I like Zack Snyders movies but this was something else. Oh and you got my sub✌️
@yikesreviews
@yikesreviews Ай бұрын
@originallyjohn2196, Thank you very much for the comment and the sub. I was talking with my sister about this movie. How I was so angry, and sad while watching it and they told me that Zack Snyder and James Gunn have somewhat similar styles when it comes to writing and directing. They both worked on Dawn of the Dead so in much the same way they have come up together professionally. However, while one of the pair has gone on to do very well in terms of writing, directing and architecting the next iteration of a comic cinematic universe, the other part of the pair has floundered to reach the same heights. I think there is some small rivalry in Zack and he has not let that battle go where it appears James Gunn is moving on to bigger and better things. I could be wrong but it makes sense. Zack Snyder is a gifted director. He is able to set up a scene quite pleasing visually. However, the basics is what he has trouble with and trying to do too much and his ego is his Achilles heel.

Tranformers: Revenge of the Fallen gave birth to so many critics we watch today. Jeremy Jahns, Stuckmann, and others. Rebel Moon 2 seems to be that new generation builder. It's universally hated, uniting even the most combative of KZbin reviewer. So many channels are building off of the awfulness of this film. A new generation born...

@jmsmys13ify Awesome comment by the way! Uniting through awfulness does bring the world together. I think because we can see the potential in what Snyder is trying to do. I admire the fact that Zack did not let Lucasfilm stop him from doing what he wanted to do. However, just because you can do a thing does not mean you should and if you do that thing do it to the best of your abilities. Rebel Moon is not Zack's best and I know he can do better. I'm just waiting to see it. Thank you for your comment and support.

@funkyd3321, thank you for your comment. Zack Snyder is definitely his own worst enemy. As someone who used to be and still a fan of his older work, I believe he is capable of far more. If Zack can learn to get out of his way and let go of some of the control he has in the creative process I think we would be off to a great start.

@frankallen3634 I actually like Man of Steel despite its flaws. Henry Cavill had the unfortunate task of working with the material he was given. Cavill believed in the character of Superman but was directed to show the sad, grim, dark side. I would have really loved to see a Man of Steel 2 but alas that ship has sailed. I'm hoping and believing that James Gunn will know how to direct one of the finest Superman movies since Donner's Superman. Thanks for your comment and support.

@@yikesreviewsI mean, I attended both premieres and had a fun time with these movies Based off what I’ve been told, the full version of the movies that actually plays out slightly differently in parts is what I’m really looking forward to As far as thinking that you wasted your time, maybe next time you sit down to watch something, don’t act so entitled if you don’t like whatever it is man 🤷‍♂️ There is an enjoyable movie there and I know many people that liked it, but just remember if you dislike something, that doesn’t make it bad Most movies I’ve watched and not liked, I still always try to see it from the perspective of the director or creators and so always try and take away something positive With the amount of movies I’ve seen, to fundamentally state these movies as ‘garbage’ or the rest of the language the internet throws at movies, shows, sports stars, actors and so on, is just poor in itself In order for a movie to actually be ‘bad’ surely there cannot be redeeming qualities in it? From the music, costumes, VFX work, performances, writing and so on, I can name many things which is redeeming in the production At worst, RM is average, just another average movie/show that gets made

@@user-dm2nx4yu5o You know that's fair, I know this critique is harsh but these are my thoughts on this movie. I'm a fan of Snyder's movie Watchmen which had a mixed reaction as well but has grown steadily over time as one of his strongest offerings. Snyder is a visually evocative director. I can see pieces in the movie that fans would enjoy and I respect that. For me though, I'm left feeling dissatisfied with the movie as it was shown to me. Yeah, there's another cut that MIGHT be better but I am judging on the final product that Netflix premiered. Thanks for your perspective.

No hate... but you should write a script for your rant. I know it's free form or free thought....but it's a bit random. And i know that someone will say something like "well the movie was also random" but still. And i don't mean an actual script but at least a rough outline. That will help with some of the stammering and unintentional pauses. You just didn't seem to be going in a clear direction. It was more of a ramble than a rant. I was at least somewhat distracted by the fact that you were losing your place. I'm only speaking from the perspective of a first time viewer. Check you on the next one. Peace

@yuikendal4868 Snyder's films have always been visual fast food. The expectation of Snyder has been can you make this film look cool and get a lot of people to watch it. I think on that metric he has succeeded. However, he has been given validation by his ardent fans and studios that everything he does is acceptable. He struggles when it comes to writing that it takes a toll on his directing capabilities and vice versa. All of these aspects have turned the quality of his recent films from enjoyable visual spectacles to mediocre flights of fancy. Thank you for the great comment and support.
