Politicians' security details are not in uniform, Dumdum. Menzies was walking sideways, saw the guy, and instead of stopping or saying "Excuse me...", ran right into him raising his arm to knock the security guy out of the way. That's assault. Doesn't matter if the security guy was standing there on purpose, or not. If you're the one moving, and you run into someone who's just standing there, YOU are the assailant. If it was a child standing there, trying to catch a glimpse of a famous person, would you be okay with Menzies doing what he did because he's alleging his right to "scrum"? C'mon people! You don't know whether they're a police officer or not. AND, it doesn't matter whether you know they're a police officer or not. If you assault an undercover cop during a drug sting, you still get charged with assaulting a peace officer. So, watch the video again. The guy is standing still. Menzies runs into him and, as he does so, raises his arm with the microphone in it, and knocks the guy backwards. THAT. IS. ASSAULT. The fact that it happens to be against a police officer is just an additional factor; not the main factor.
