Rebel X Sports KTM 790/890 Fairing - Install & Review

Rebel X Sports have recently released a bolt-on side fairing kit for the KTM 790 and 890 Adventure. It's a simple but well-designed high-quality moulding and I'll show you how to fit it and then offer a quick initial opinion on its performance. It really does change the look of the bike and I think for the better. Obviously only suitable for 2022 and earlier models.

Great review, will be interesting to hear an update after riding in rain. While you were talking through the installation I had a price in my head of about £300. Unfortunately, after adding 75 euro for shipping, then considering VAT and import charges, I think the landed price will be close to £600, so too expensive for me.

€75 for shipping! I’ll check what mine was but it wasn’t that high. I also didn’t pay any other fees, but I might have just been lucky with that. But yes if it does come to £600 that’s too much.

I had a high mudguard on it for a while, but found it acted like a bit of a sail on fast a roads and motorways. But I might try it again with these fairings to see if its any different

Yes I managed to make a bracket today that mounts from the two point fixing used in this kit. Works a treat 👍

Any chance of a quick follow up video showing your new brackets/mounts? Same as you I have the Denali S4s with Denali brackets, and have held off on getting the Rebelx fairing as I knew they would probably not fit.

Great stuff Tony! Could you swap LHS driving light with the RHS to get the lighting angles corrected? Will they then sit higher? I don’t have a KTM. Please forgive me. Have a great New Year!

I've seen a review from "abikething" which suggests it doesn't seem to make any difference if they're upside down

Yep I don’t think it does, but I didn’t like the position I had them in as they sat too close and lit up the fairings on 100%. I’ve now made a bracket to mount them off of the mount for the fairing. Now they are the right way up and in a much better position.

Is the plastic of these the same as the OEM plastic? The reason I ask is that these look quite brittle rather than the flexible OEM plastics. Nice to hear good things about the airflow though. As like you I have the MRA screen, and have been running without the two winglets on either side.

There’s some flex in them, but they are thicker than the OEM panels. Seem quite strong, I definitely wouldn’t use the word brittle for them

The lights don’t flash, they just appear too because of the frame rate the video was recorded in

@@mancavemoto And often, removing the under headlight “winglets” stops the buffeting. It did on my 790ADV, and my 890 ADV. However, when I added the PowerParts driving lights to the 890 I could put the “winglets” back on and the buffeting was gone 😳.

I was all excited about these, so I ran out the garage to see how the black ones would look on my orange 890 ADV. I quickly noticed they would not work with the PowerParts driving lights because that kit replaces the headlight braces with heavier duty ones which have integral light mounts, and those mounts are right in front of the lower fairing screws. 🙁. Rats !

Yes, this has been a great bike. No issues with it other than the known condensation on the tft screen occasionally
