Lucky you! I went to do same thing for my 23 kawasaki vulcan s. First oil change. Went to kawasaki dealership, made an appointment two weeks in advance. Showed up, they said three to four days. Which they forgot to mention when I made appointments. Who takes 3 to four days for an oil change anyway!?!

Are you going to do a video on installing the risers?
@QuasiMotard
@QuasiMotard 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I will be installing a some set-back risers soon. I ordered a set of black ROX risers, but I received silver ones instead... so those have been returned. I'm not sure if the usual "fat bar" risers for 1 1/8" bars will work on this bike because the Rebel 1100's bars are 1" diameter in the center. I'll need to get a set of risers and try to find out. I'm sure that aftermarket companies will be producing upgrade parts for the Rebel very soon, so it's just a waiting game right now. My preference is to have a set of billet aluminum risers (black anodized) that don't raise the bars much (maybe 1") and move them rearward about 1.5". I don't need much extra reach to find a comfortable spot... just a little bit more upright would be great. Cheers! 👍 --QM

Couldn't fit on a Rebel 1100 at 6'5". Really wanted forward controls, so ended up with a used 2018 HD Sport Glide with quick removable bags and removable fairing for riding naked, too. A Honda service is inexpensive. The 1000 mile break in service on a HD is $550 US.

Enjoyable and fluent commentary. I'm torn between the Rebel and the Vulcan S at present. The DCT has not yet landed near me anyhow. Thanks again - just subbed.
@QuasiMotard
@QuasiMotard 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback and the sub! The seating position and ride is similar between the Vulcan S and the Rebel, but the Vulcan's rear suspension is a little smoother as-delivered from the factory. The Rebel's suspension seems harsh because it's set too soft from the factory. I will be posting the video on the rear shock testing and tuning soon. I did tne zip-tie test on the front and rear to see where the stroke limits were. I found that the rear shocks were using ~70% of the travel over minor bumps and bottoming-out over larger highway ripples. So, I will be increasing the rear spring preload and testing different settings soon. Cheers! 👍 --QM

@@QuasiMotard Thank you. I look forward to your findings after testing the pre-load adjustments. As a 6 footer, I did also think forward controls on the Vulcan might swing me, but the DCT has great appeal in other respects and presumably there are aftermarket forward control options (there are on the Rebel 500 anyway). Thank you for taking the time to reply. Very best wishes.

what's the round device to the right of the parking break? Compass??
@QuasiMotard
@QuasiMotard 2 күн бұрын
That's the Beeline Moto GPS. It's essentially a remote map display for your smart phone. You need to run the Beeline mobile app with a pre-defined route, and it gives you rough bearings and distances to the next turn. However, it wasn't turn-by-turn routing and it was difficult to use in busy traffic. I liked the size and aesthetic of the device, but the performance amd functionality was lacking for that first version. Beeline recently introduced the Moto II with a larger display and more useful routing features: beeline.co/pages/beeline-moto I haven't used the new model yet, but it looks more practical. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

Hey, Quasi ... picked up my standard transmission 1100 yesterday. I live in the mountains and the DCT's advantages don't much come into play. I'm interested in the highway bars issue. At 5'11" the mid-pegs are more cramped than I'd like for a mini-tour. I called Lindby asked if they planned on producing Lindbars for the 1100. The guy on the phone said he didn't think so as I was the first person calling ... but that might change if there was real demand. He also offered to prototype my bike later in the early summer when they are not so busy. He stated in the past year they'd only sold about 10 units for the Rebel 500 ... and I said, that's because it's not a highway bike. Got my fingers crossed but will be on the outlook for any peg extension/ highway bar solutions.
@QuasiMotard
@QuasiMotard 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip and congrats on your new Rebel! I will petition Lindby to see if we can get the ball rolling on some Rebel 1100 bars. I assume (hope) that SW-Motech will be making crash bars for the Rebel 1100 because they have so many other Honda fitments. I'm sure other companies will be jumping on the bandwagon soon, too. I will probably put a set of foldable footpegs on the crash bar to act as highway pegs. I'm also considering some mini-floorboards if I can find something that doesn't cause cornering clearance issues. There are forward control options for the Rebel 500, so I'm sure that the 1100 will have some options as well. Cheers! 👍 --QM

Thanks for the feedback, and congrats on your upcoming Rebel 1100! I think I might have discovered the rear suspension problem... it's too SOFT, not too hard. I will be posting the results of the zip-tie test soon. It appears that over 70% of the rear suspension travel is consumed over mild bumps and it's completely bottoming-out over larger ripples on the highway. I'm 6'5. I exceed the weight cap on the bike (which is 348lbs according to manual) and while the suspension sucks, I also had to get the AirMax pad (Thanks for the recommendation!) I find the position of the pegs to be fairly comfortable. I mansplit while riding until I want to pass or show off, and then my knees hug the tank, and my knees are almost straight forward at that point. I wear sneakers, not boots, so the pegs are a bit uncomfortable and I would like some forward controls/highway pegs as well. I most definitely need saddle bags! I'm keeping my eyes peeled for a good windshield.
@QuasiMotard
@QuasiMotard 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! You're definiitely the exception on the size/weight feedback so far... I'm glad that the Rebel works for you! Have you increased your rear shock preload yet? I found that my shocks were bottoming-out over minor bumps with my 170 pounds on it. I ended up increasing the rear preload from #3 to #8 (out of 19 steps), and I bumped the front preload up 3/4 turn from the factory setting. It seems to ride better now, but I'm still planning to upgrade the rear shocks eventually. T-Rex Racing is making adjustable floorboards and footpeg extensions for the Rebel 1100... you can check their Rebel catalog here: www.t-rex-racing.com/2021-Honda-Rebel-1100-Products-s/2229.htm . That stripe looks really good on my Can-Am Ryker Rally because there are other red accents and highlights on that bike already. My Honda "custom forward" rider's seat arrived yesterday, so I'll be swapping the seat later today. I see you going 75 and up mph I like to travel that seep to ,,,I was just wondering how does the motor feel at those speeds ,,,, can you travel all day going those speeds ? Will it hurt the motor?
@QuasiMotard
@QuasiMotard 3 жыл бұрын
The Rebel 1100's motor feels very relaxed at freeway speeds, and it's only using about 60% of the available rev range and 20-25% throttle to maintain 75-80 MPH. It can comfortably cruise at that speed all day without breaking a sweat. The Rebel has a limiter in the ECU that caps the speed at 100 MPH, but it has enough power to easily pull 125+ if the limiter wasn't there. However, the wind pressure the rider's torso is another story. The upright seating position and splayed-out leg position make the ride a bit uncomfortable for long highway trips. I will be installing a windscreen very soon. I feel like a flying squirrel in a wind tunnel above 75 MPH... just fighting to hang onto the bars. 🤣👍 --QM

They definitely need to come out with some forward controls and a better looking wind screen that’s not so old school Harley looking after that she will be perfect. Oh and maybe a tune to get a little more top end out of it. Because the Africa twin can go 120 easy and it’s basically the exact same engine. 4th 5th and 6th gear feels exactly the same. Other than that she is a great bike Honda should be proud.
@QuasiMotard
@QuasiMotard 3 жыл бұрын
Agreed! I'm sure that the aftermarket will have forward controls and highway pegs for the Rebel 1100 very soon. The ECU flash is another issue, but I'm OK with the 100 MPH limit for now. The engine still has full power right up to the limit, so the nanny isn't intruding before then with a slow roll-off of engine power. I've had my Rebel up to the century mark dozens of times, and it pulls hard and fast right up to 102-103 and then backs down to 99-100. I don't need to ride over 100 MPH anyway... that's just asking for trouble on this bike without a steering stabilizer and some kind of small windscreen to manage the chest pressure. Cheers! 👍 --QM
