Great informative video. Love these demos but makes me cringe. I older I get the more fearful of them I get and we have quite a few of them around our district. Always chilling to read how some people manage to get bitten even without realising the cause. That’s the danger when no immediate action is taken.

The Tiger snakes in Tasmania are less venomous than the Tigers snakes on the Australia mainland. I've seen a lot in Australia while out walking and I've seen a few in Tasmania. I've never had one chase me. The closes I've put my foot next to one was about 15cm. When I saw it, my heart rate jump up. I was lucky it didn't bite me.

I have walked many remote hiking paths in Tasmania and frequently come across tiger snakes on the paths or amongst the button grass. I'm always aware they are around but every now and then they spook you and leave you a bit on edge for a while. I always find a clearing to camp and am cautions on entering huts or abandoned settlements. I once did disturb a number of tiger snakes on a river bed as I was trying to make my way out of a canyon and they were on a slope of shale that came down as I was ascending. My lasting memory was watching three or four literally pursue me as I hopped from boulder to boulder along the river. PS Aussies go into the bush wearing thongs armed with a snake bite kit.
@RebelFilms3 жыл бұрын
Great story Hick. Best to be cautious..., although I am guilty of only wearing thongs on my 5 day bush walks 😬

We were out horse riding, about 4/5 people when a tiger snake started making it way towards us. I have been told tiger snakes can be aggressive in mating season. Tiger snakes are one of Australia's most aggressive snake, beware when your out walking. Saying all that, I was once out horse riding on my own when my horse side stepped a puddle when I looked down I was a tiger snake, coiled up only a few inches away from my horses foot, never striked her, maybe because we were both calm as we didn't see it till the last minute, another time had a small tiger living in our chook pen, again didn't know it was there when I moved to he chook laying box to clean be and my young 5/6 yo son stated there was a snake there and said it do calmly that I didn't believe him at first, but sure enough it was there coiled up, I had to shoe it out of the shed and it didn't act aggressively. My favourite snakes are red bellied black snake.
@RebelFilms3 жыл бұрын
Yes, staying calm is the key...but they do give you a fright. Last week I turned over a sheet of corrogated iron to reveal three red belly blacks. Nice staoty thank you
@sherwoodd13 жыл бұрын

@Abstractivity_5 жыл бұрын
it is a long process to collect and then properly synthesis the antivenin (yes it is spelt that way). It also isn't possible to have it on hand because it needs to refrigerated and administered similar to the way a blood transfusion is done. Or so I am told.

There's plenty of people here in Tassie who have been bitten, they just take it in their stride. I was talking to a tree feller who has been bitten numerous times, showed me the marks. He said it's not uncommon to fell a tree and a whole family of tigers emerge and one or two will stand up and have a go. Tuff as nails these blokes.
