You have to remember this is an Asian story and there is a huge belief that village girls do not get the education city people do so they are looked down on. In the USA we could care less if you grew up in the country or city the education more or less is the same

@@rachelcrawford1977 I think, especially in the past, the Chinese countryside had no real opportunities beyond farming, a lot of which has to be done by hand. A lot of the farming was small family farms and barely made enough to support a family, especially if they had several children. No educational besides the basics, no good jobs or prospects and the government had to give you permission before you could move to a city to work/live. Also, even though it is not verbalized here outright, there are people in cities and suburbs right here in the USA that assume that people who come from the country are stupid rednecks and they do discriminate to a point, I grew up in a small town and moved to the suburbs of Chicago where people would act like I just fell off a turnip truck, although, I would read THEIR charting/paperwork and THEY were basically illiterate about spelling, word usage, etc. There was actually a Stanford PHD student who said that all people should move to cities because people that lived in small towns were "selfish, bad people" and that no services should be extended to small towns. I wonder where he thinks his food comes from? There are typically no corn/wheat/soy fields in NYC, Chicago or L.A.

Yep. I'm a asian village girl too. A country's lawyer to be exact. F em that underestimated village people. City arent that good, what did they bragging about? Have lived, work and going to school in the city, nothing to brag about except crimes experience (have fought a robber, wannabe-rapist scoundrel and pick-pockets)

Glad on her second chance in life, she said for get him and worked hard on improving her own situation. Julian looked down on her. Why should she bother helping a man who does that and cant be grateful for her help? Why should she and her family suffer for a man who looks down on her and hids their relationship?

A real good deep story and also liked the bits of historical information... FLs past life situations are understandable - once you made a choice in those days, it was hard to get out... And in her current life, she more than made up for it... Its also great that she didn't act like a 'saint' and avoid doing any revenge stuff... She was also smart and made sure she was safe all the time... ML is also a real good green flag...over a real good story ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
