I bet you won’t be able to rebuild a one piston engine with your 13 years experience following “rules and regulations” .
@txbarker782 жыл бұрын
@@LeCobra. I could if I had instructions.......aviation techs are considered unskilled labor (I think) because we're taught to go by the maintenance manuals...and they're constantly updated so you have to pull manual for every job every time. We could even get in trouble using one even a day old per FAA regs. I do feel stupid trying to diagnose my own truck problems when talking to a licensed auto tech.....lol....im not knocking them at all. And its not that I can't do the same work and do it correctly, hell, they trained monkeys to go to space......its all about the training. But in aviation if you dont have the paperwork done right there's a very real threat of federal jail time. Most aviation accidents boil down to improper maintenance that causes a series of catastrophic failures that bring birds down, and thats when the FAA really digs into paperwork to find out who screwed up. Thats why after crashes you'll find techs, managers and supervisors commit suicide. On top of the deaths they cause its federal jail time.

I've been guilty of not exactly using a torque wrench on oil pans & valve covers, but i ALWAYS use a torque wrench on rods, mains, heads, intake manifolds. I guess I'm old school as i always plasti- guage rods & mains. I've seen a number of guys rebuild engines here in the states, some high performance engines, & they say you don't need to plasti-guage rods & mains. Guess i just always like to know, & don't take the risk of an engine knocking after I've done alot of hard work building it & installing it.
