Today Jared tries to clean up the field of broken cars, by getting rid of one. He tears into the damage caused by the Long Beach Wall to the former Johnathan Hurst BMW E46. Why bother doing all this work when the car competed for 15 races after the accident? Because this is the Questionable Garage!

Mountain dog shedding is the real deal, two and your life is covered in dog hair. Tumbleweeds are table stakes. But at least it cleans up easy and doesn't needle in and stick into surfaces like short dog hair. Just glad the black fur from my Berners doesn't stand out quite as much as Pyrenees white!

Awesome project this is! I was already thinking of buying an e46 before seeing the first episode of this series, but that first episode confirmed me I needed to actually start looking for one. A few weeks ago I bought one! Its a pretty immaculate, for its age at least, black e46 Coupé. It pretty much only needs an exterior rear quarter window seal. Thanks for inspiring me Jared!

e46 strut towers are prone for mushrooming which is what your "racecar" has already done. look at the M3 strut mounts (tops) and the drift build...notice the "shrooming" if your serious you should 100% add some reinforcement plates to those strut towers. a bad day when a strut pops thru the mount and bangs your carbon fiber hood...
@bensabelhaus7288
@bensabelhaus7288 17 күн бұрын
Looking at that design, I'm surprised the towers aren't just ripping themselves out by before they mushroom the tops. Yeesh. We used to reinforce them for impact landings causing them to blow upward / mushroom. What blows my mind is that good foot of just nothing between the towers and the firewall. So much flex for a car people scream so much about the handling. I imagine a cheap strut tower brace transforms those cars.

Great episode seeing all the struggles! Just some edu-mi-cation - rain and cold doesn't make you sick (unless its cold enough to give you frostbite) - being stuck inside with sick people makes you sick - getting cold and wet can lower your immune system so you are more susceptible to viruses - but really, just being stuck inside with other people is what makes you sick when the weather is bad.

Jared, when you drove Trihard, I suggested you take out the inner door panels to give you some maneuvering space. It makes me happy that this car will give you just that. Jared, I see a pattern forming. You shoot videos with you doing stuff to a car, and then the next video the car is complete and you didn't shoot the full video. One of the things I like about vice grip garage, Derek shoots a complete video and finishes the project, and then publishes the video. The last one was an hour and 20 minutes, but it was complete, and I watched the whole thing and loved every minute of it. I wish you would please consider doing that on your show. p.s. I loved the Dodge hellcat tuning. That was good.

This is not a no-no-no or I wouldn't do that (I'm actually not sure what way I'd go).... But I am wondering, might it have been easier to take the good undamaged body, strip off what won't be needed, then transfer the good drifty bits (roll cage, etc) from the damaged car over to it? Sorry, I don't remember all the dets of the damaged drift body.
@starfox_wr-45e93

Cutting the cage out to re-use it is probably mission impossible. The Drift car -prob- definitely has all the rear subframe reinforcement mods that all e46's (race car or not) eventually need too. This is easily the less labour intensive way of doing it, I reckon. That said.... I just wish an M3 chassis wasn't sacrificed, when a regular base e46 would have probably done. That said, while the e46 M3 is my dream car, this particular one is on the other side of the world to me anyway, so have at it Jared🤣 (Pls pack the m3 rear quarters in Tavarish's suitcase for when he next visits the U.K, I could do with them for my e46 ti compact project. Thanks lol )

@@starfox_wr-45e93 I wasn't so much being worried about the Beamer being sacrificed (sorry BMW lovers, but I've just never been crazy about BMW's in general even though I know full well first hand that they are real drivers cars - I'm not sure why I'm not into them, I'm just not - hope it's all cool). Was only thinking given how straight it was it might have been slightly simpler in a few respects (need to re-watch the first episode this as I don't remember all the details of the mods just to the chassis -- and I aim to do that this weekend). I'm totally cool with the decision. I am looking forward to seeing Jared drifting the mad Beama around. ;-)
