Did you have to drain the oil to remove the timing cover and heads? I’m about to remove my timing cover, same issue. I had P0300/P0308. Did a compression test had 110 psi in 8 and all others were 155-170 psi. I have the Haynes repair manual and it says to drain the oil.
@GoBrosGoebel5 ай бұрын
In my opinion I would drain it just because! You’re talking about like $50 in oil change supplies. That oil could have some coolent in it or just crap from whatever was causing the issue. Just a little assurence this it has fresh oil after all the hours you put into it👍 hope that helps

@@sojministries337 I honestly don’t remember changing any bolts out that I can think of? The only thing that I maybe could think of would be the bolts holding the phasers on!!

Do you remember what prompted this replacement in the first place? I'm asking because I'm around a similar mileage to this vehicle and am experiencing gas smelling sludge in my coolant reservoir. Trying to understand my options and make a decent decision on whether i should invest in a shop replacing all of this (or do it myself). Thank you.
@GoBrosGoebel7 ай бұрын
I had a lot of excessive white smoke and a misfire, the job actually wasn’t too bad of a job!! I would recommend doing it yourself if you’re inclined.
@michaelholloway7347 ай бұрын
Awesome. Thanks for the info. I suppose i'm just a little hesitant because i've never tinkered with camshafts or timing chains. I saw that in the video you drew a line on them to make sure they were perfectly aligned when you put everything back together. Is it as simple as that? Just removing the puzzle pieces and placing everything back together in the reverse order of how you took it apart? @@GoBrosGoebel
@GoBrosGoebel7 ай бұрын
@@michaelholloway734 yea just mark everything way more than you think and you won’t regret it! And then line the old chain with marks up to the new one and transfer the marks and put back together👍👍

How much did the shop charge you for the heads. Thank you in advance 🤘🏼🔥
@GoBrosGoebel Жыл бұрын
The local shop charged me $100-120 per head depending on if I want them to go through the valves too. I believe that is fairly cheap for the service that they provide.
@edbrown79196 ай бұрын
Extremely cheap I paid 1000 and that’s cheap in Cali Bay Area for both heads the reason is these 5.0 have 32 valves total
