The electrical issue ended up being two loose connections in the cdi making contact. Just one of those frustrating things that can catch you out. Thank you for taking the time to comment!

I'm honestly not sure how much help I can actually be sorry, given that I'm so far away and can't see your bike. If it's the same issue as mine was, then the cdi is in the floor of your scooter and you can just visually check to see if the connectors are touching. Other than this, I'm nor sure how to be of help sorry.

In that case I wouldn't really know what to suggest then sorry mate. I guess start from the switch and work back from there?
