Most shops won't touch a bottle jack, you can do it yourself basically cleaning it up !

Probably the best straight forward bottle jack repair video on youtube. Just rebuilt my jack with updated loaded u cupseals from "orings and more" very reasonably. Available in metric sizes as well and far superior to the import oem bottlejack seals. Thanks for posting!

Thanks! I bought one of the log splitters that use a bottle jack and of course the jack started leaking, it's mounted on there so, kinda need that specific one to work. Gonna crack it open after seeing this!

Awesome! I have one I've been meaning to rebuild - looks almost exactly like yours. Just never enough time to get her on the bench. Thanks for the demo and explaining everything! Great video! Thanks for sharing!

That looks like my old Hien Warner bottle jack, had it for years and it's always done a good job. Interesting to see the inner workings of the design. Nice video CE, work safe, have a good weekend too! Doug@ the "ranch"

@@cesmith4566 I actually found a 30 ton bottle jack in an old diesel e-350 that was junked. Only needed oil, works great.

I'm sorry, sir, but I wasn't going to say anything, but you kept saying I can't find parts. Just type in model 5520B 20 ton bottle jack rebuild kit. Has everything from top to bottom.

I was wondering if it was just me. He seems to know what he's doing but I couldn't make it past the 5 min mark. At $75 an hour no wonder it's cheaper to buy another that was going to be an all day job😴

I realize this is an older video, but I have to agree with you that they are near about a throw away item when they stop working correctly. IF you can find the unique "O" rings and seals, the typical cost is usually more than buying a new jack. But I still do try just for the fun of it...

I have 2 service floor jacks both 3 tons. I just dont understand why you would get a bottle jack instead of a trolly jack?
@victoryfirst28783 жыл бұрын
I made a bottle jack out of stainless steel and used teflon seals. The neighbor paid me to make one from scratch in the machine shop. Took me I would say roughly 16 hours. That was ten years ago and he has not asked me to repair the item. He drains the oil about every year off season. Should of made two as that is what I am thinking about it now.

Auto parts stores carry “hydraulic jack oil” that’s the only oil one should use.
@tofan26223 жыл бұрын
Its just hydraulic fluid. There is no special "jack oil".
@stewatparkpark29332 жыл бұрын
@@tofan2622 There are a lot of different hydraulic oils .
