I must have watched over a hundred videos on hydraulic jack repair, but this is by far the most informative and most helpful. Great job, thank you.

Superb. You may have just saved my harvesting. I use a bottle jack for a press to get oil out of olives! It started leaking today.

Well done. Mechanics is a universal language, and you express yourself very well. Many other instructional videos could be improved without dialogue and/or music.

I have a 20 ton version of this jack and I tried to invert it for use in a hydraulic press. I must of watched 20 videos on how to do it. I followed the general modifications but none worked. From your video, I can see what the problem is. It comes down to the check valve balls are made to work via gravity. When the jack is inverted, the balls are in the wrong resting position for operation. Thanks.

Any tips or sequence to re install the pressure relief valve seal , do you insert it on the valve and push in or do you poke it into the hole then insert the valve

Blaise pascal really genius --- his idea of the hydraulic jack lift up tonnes of weight with only some twist of hands...amazing!! I come to see this because of lecture lol about water hydrostatic pressure

Ok so my bottle jack I modified to work upside down and it has worked great on my press for six years now but the other day I was using it and it just stopped everytime I press the handle the cylinder moves out like it should but when I return the handle it sinks back down Can you help me ? And yes I’ve tried bleeding it out and adding fluid I can’t figure it out

Where do I find the clamping pipe wrench that you used?
@helpfromthegarage16773 жыл бұрын
It depends where you are from. Can be purchased at a plumbing store. It is known as the Swedish clamping wrench or water pump pliers. Can also be purchased from online stores.

My 20 ton bottle jack is leaking from the release valve. I removed the threaded bolt and there's just a small steel ball inside. Should there be some kind of compression spring in there?
@helpfromthegarage16772 жыл бұрын
The spring shouldn't be there. There must be a rubber seal to prevent oil from leaking out.

What was wrong with the bottle jack that you had to disassemble it? And what are you going to use to clean it out before reassembling? I just totally disassembled a trolley floor jack (2 ton type) and am repainting it to reassemble. My trolley floor jack was leaking down and that was the main reason for repairing it. Thumbs Up!
@helpfromthegarage16773 жыл бұрын
The jack did not hold the load. Disassembled to find out the reason, flush and replace the oil. The inside of the jack can be cleaned with gasoline or kerosene.

Just it a shot. If you fail , try again. and if you fail again try again, and if you stop trying you will fail. Never give up , ever. Someday you will impart knowledge to your grandchildren who will be grateful.

Nicely done, very nicely done. To bad you didnt dub it over with loud obnoxious music, put a long intro of you and your unrelated hobbies, and spend most the time babbling like a cheap TV news reporter constantly saying "now lets get into it..but first" only to babble again and never getting to the point. Then it would have been crap like all the rest. Nicely done, very nicely done.
