The rolling chassis is straight except for the rims but you picked a very nice pair to replace the originals and that motor man you lucky dog that unit is sweet hard to find the old kx's with a motor in that good of shape. Do you remember the DMC package racers? I was working with my old friend Dave Miller for about 7 years during the eighties and we built and sold the s*** out of those bad boys. Spider says, " I'm not checking out this engine, my friend Ricky Bobby got painted over and I was trying to free him!" The cylinder came right off, and so did Ricky Bobby! And so, while Brady takes apart the engine, spider and his fallen friend, Ricky Bobby, make their two hour journey back home, where he will be laid to rest. Right where his father, and his father's father, and his father's father's father, and his father's father's father's father before him were laid to rest. All in 2020. In honor, Brady grabs his first, and last by the looks of it, beer of the day and prepares to crack it open while shifting gears. Remember kids, don't drink and drive, even if you can't go anywhere, as we have seen Brady do while motoring around the koi pond! All in all, it was the best $20 Brady has ever spent...on beer! Excellent video! Brought back memories of watching my dad restore cars and motorcycles. His video would have included many bleeps tho! Lol! PS Could be that ride that Billy Joe McCallister took off the Tallahassee Bridge and got all that moisture in the engine. Lol! Are you singing that song yet? ;) If you see a chance, take it! Sorry I stole your thunder and told the back story of this video. I know you were saving it for a rainy day. Haha! A broken spring meownt, he says in the presence of inspector kitty! And pray tell the location of these wild "hares"? Careful, kitty might like to chase said " hares"! Oh no! Don't cut the Saran Wrap! You can use that later after a couple more beers so your wife doesn't feel cheated you spending all that money on a broken ride!

I remember on my 85 KX 125, when it came time to replace the piston and rings, the hot ticket was to use an 86 piston and ring because the 86 only used a single ring, not dual rings like the 85, so it revved quicker.
@NOTTApro1422 жыл бұрын
Yeah wait, how would putting an OEM part from a different year on make it rev quicker?

I raced both those bikes back in the mid 80s and want to find a 125 and 250 a 1980 250 and a 79 or 80’ 125. We are going through the same thing you are with an 86 Kx 125 for my grandson. if you have an bearing supply house near you, like a warehouse in an industrial area kind of place, take in the old bearings in and have them match them up. It'll save you some Ebaying and waiting on shipping.

Just picked up a really good condition 1990 kx 125. Starts right up and idles good but 1st and 2nd gear have very little power. 3rd gear the power finally kicks in but still not like a 125 should. Im not the most mechanically inclined guy but i can take instruction. Any suggestions for a good place to start would be appreciated. Hi, I was wondering if your bike requires a secondary movement after either shifting up or down to return the shifting mechanism back into position to make the next change? Example: after shifting from 2nd to 3rd I have to lightly press the shifter down in order to perform another shift... Thanks for the video; It was extremely helpful!
@Bradybrandwood3 жыл бұрын
Hi, no it should re set on its own. You may have the return spring in the wrong position, or something too tight and binding preventing your shifter from returning to center. Also check to see that the shift drum is in correctly. ✌️✌️✌️

If you go online to one of the parts warehouses, and click your way to KX 125 you should get a schematic of all of the parts on the bike which will give you part numbers and details on what you need to replace. You probably won’t be able to buy these parts directly but the part number will help you find replacement parts. ✌️✌️✌️
