Thanks for the video. Please explain what makes a marine build vs a street build. Are parts the same? What are the heads? Were they the GT-40P heads? What are specs for new cam vs OEM cam?

i have a 302 ford engine i am rebuilding now and no ridge from rings digging into the bore at top ... and a top engine builder told me it is the new style cast blocks material they are using now... it will not wear away the bore like they use to...

I fount That RTV on the balancer bolt is typical on a Pleasurecraft 351 like this. They marinize the shortblock with their cast iron front cover, Seems to be their technique of assembly. wow, 40 over. Nice program man.

the guy that numbered the rods and caps probably went 1-8 from the front of the engine to the back in order not left and right for the actual cylinder like you did bc 1,7,8 are the same. im no engine builder thats why im watching :) great vids bro

Same here maybe. Mines out of a 1975 trojan F24, it might have been rebuilt already but I don't know because the guy I bought it from has dementia really bad unfortunately for both of us 😕 the boat counter has 2,300 hours on it, no idea if that's super high or not either... Mines a 233 hp 351 what's yours?

Why would you put the low compression piston back in
@JacobVillemain4 жыл бұрын
Because it’s a marine engine. Power is at the bottom of the list for requirements. Lower compression is much safer for an engine that will sit at peak torque, wide open throttle for up to 30 minutes at a time.

One reason boat motors would be in good shape is 90% of a boats life is spent in storage.

when you resize a rod, i will not matter what hole you install the rod since it is round now and crank is turned ground down... so the stamped number on side of rod will not matter... so the engine rebuilder just did not care where he installed the resized rod... but i would of installed the correct stamped number on the side of rod to the correct cylinder so the next guy would not have a problem understanding why it was not installed in the same hole and could sleep at night and not stay up all night wondering why just why someone just slam the engine together without taking the time to install the rod back into the number hole it came out of... just say`n
