Rebuilding A Wrecked 2018 Camaro ZL1 Part 20

Dudes, couple of quick pointers from another ZL1 owner. The OEM tires on wet roads are dangerous, they hydroplane easily and, as you've already figured out, don't give you a lot of traction when you get on it- be careful. Those tires are also dangerous when cold even on dry asphalt, anything below 60 degrees you need to drive a little more conservatively until you get the tires warm (there's a tire temp monitor under the performance screen on the dash, if it says "Cool" the tires will not grip well. There are aftermarket tires that do much better in rain/cold but, won't be as good on the track. Don't drive with the tires under 40 degrees either, that's in the owner's manual. The standard (six speed) ZL1s have a bog issue when trying to launch from a stop. Putting a ported throttle body on the car will help quite a bit (either Katech or Tony Mamo). It will also improve the throttle response. You do not 'need' to tune the car with just a CAI and Ported TB but, the car will run much better if you do. IF you are going to do that, go ahead and do an E85 conversion kit and have it tuned with that - car will pick up ~50-60 HP from those mods alone on E85. Personal preference - Put the badge on, rear end looks naked without it.

Do not forget the most important part. Since you changed the air fuel ratio and exhaust , you need to tune it. Do not use generic ECM tuner... take it to a pro. Dyno while you are at it. That car will run perfectly.

She came out beautiful and after watching all the videos entire rebuild process, I have to say my respect and admiration to all you folks who work on automotive bodywork. You guys ROCK!!! I have a 2017 2.0L T... Hyper Blue Convertible... been doing mods for performance through ZZPERFORMANCE. Make sure you do a catch can from Mishimoto... they are great! I’ve caught 3.5 oz. already in just under 10k miles. Better in the “can” than on the valves. Great job guys! My goal is a ZL1 someday.... Oh! Did I mention I put 2013 Chrome staggered Z28 rims on in place of the stock “BORING” wheels.... many, many compliments. Good luck with her guys!!!!

I don't particularly like the new Camaro's... but this is one beasty car. That exhaust sounds killer. Just the right amount of cackle and crackle. BTW... your paint skills are really impressive for someone who is not only young, but just starting out and learning. It takes a lot of time, and a lot of trial and error to get good at that. Those new guns will definitely help... the atomization and finish looks 3 steps above the last gun. NIcely done lads. Can't wait for the Viper to get done. It's a real beast, and a true race car... it is going to be a fun one to drive.

It really looks like the car need to be wet sanded and buffed out. From a former painter, I can see a ton of defects in the finish. Probably just dirt in the clear that can come out with wetsanding. With that said, the channel and content is great and enjoy watching each build.

Hi guys,Congrats for all the reconstruction job you did with this Camaro.Some comments / questions:1) Did you purchase OEM intake parts before you change to a more power full kit ?2) Does this rebuild make financially sense ? Keeping to gloss black on the front bumper would have looked really aggressive. maybe even black mirrors and door handles and I would have kept the shark fin the factory blue it’s the small details that make the difference, then full tint on rear windows, legal tints on front windows, head, tail and side marker lights. Then maybe I would have painted the new cold air pipes the factory blue, possibly even that cover you put over the orange fluid. Looked really smart in my head, I would even bring some of that factory blue into the interior for some plastics maybe, would be killer... looks great as is though guys! Keep it up.

C C Yes, a wing can make a car go faster. Wing adds downforce which means more grip. Better for track applications

No, the wing actually slows the car down (it's drag). BUT, on a track it helps tremendously by keeping the ass end planted. 300lbs of downforce at speed. There are two videos of ZL1s on Nuerenberg Ring. Plain ZL1 will accelerate faster without the wing, 1LE can go through corners faster with the wing.

Judging by the welds the shield is from aluminum and even painted gloss black (and branded) aluminum dissipate heat better than that factory OEM plastic box for the air filter so the charger will take more cold air that it was before, this up-grade + the exhaust they added it will help the car not just sound and breathe better but also going a bit faster..
