@@SAMMIT For the future, is a good habit i use professionally, to hit with hammer the socket, to have well embedded. I´m not surprised of the loosen pin, is only the head of the bolt welded to the surface, i see million of times.
@jamesp32982 күн бұрын
Hey mate, when undoing the head bolts, put a little valve grinding paste into the hex void of the head bolt. It increases the grip of the tool into the hex drive and reduces the risk of stripping out the head of the bolt. We used this method on Subaru cam pulley bolts for years. Believe it or not, it actually works really well. Greetings from Queensland, Australia. 🤙🏻

Let’s be honest Sam, most of us don’t have the budget or resources to build a engine professionally. Most of us will build an engine just as you’re doing.
@landcruisertoyota39802 күн бұрын
Poor man pays twice. Especially with engine building. There is absouletley no substitute for quality engine building , as somewhere along the line cheap workmanship will show or fail making the line especially in motorsport applications
@ATOMIK_DUNKZ2 күн бұрын
@@landcruisertoyota3980 I think you’re missing the point. This is for sh$ts and giggles. To have fun. If it breaks, so be it. It will be built again but, while it lasted. It was fun! Unless you’re doing this professionally, in the long run it doesn’t matter. It’s pretty obvious that Sam built his chaser for fun.
@JACKOFALLFATES2 күн бұрын
@@landcruisertoyota3980 maybe if you're really anxious and don't know shit about anything you're doing.... I have multiple engines all hand built & tuned. It's not hard. Just take your time and do things correctly, measure twice "cut" once. Cut being balancing, torquing, and parts used must be correct.
@酗2 күн бұрын
Somewhere along the line yeah, but even a amateur rebuilt Miata engine we turboed with junkyard parts has been sitting at 202whp for 12 years and 60k miles. If you just want a car to work, a rebuild is gonna leave you better off than before, as long as you don't majorly fuck something up.
@multishit66642 күн бұрын
Nothing wrong with doing a good engine refresh and doing everything carefully..it will last if you keep up maintenance and use great oil and filters. If you plan on beating the engine to hell and back its not as likely to last..but if you just want to keep your classic Toyota on the road refreshing all the seals, gaskets, o-rings, and even piston rings or pistons all together..is a perfect option. You don't need to always bore and deck the block..you can buy some cheap used bore measurement tools and see if anything is really in need of machine work. 3M sells a white rubber bristle wheel with micro abrasive in it.. Its hard enough to remove old gasket but wont eat your aluminum or casting. It will leave micro scratches in aluminum so you can polish that out with a sharpening stone if it bothers you. Berrymans carb dip will also destroy carbon in a few seconds from pistons and valves etc.

Pump that hone up n down faster, to give more angle scratches(crosshatch). If the cast iron is already flat, that sharpening stone is totally fine. Still MLS head-gaskets can be picky but composite/coated are not as. You reminded me, i need to order some 8mm LS valve stem seal install sleeves, to not cut the new seals when installing valves/springs. All i have are SBC 11/32 sleeves.

Just for anyone watching the last thing you want to do is put a valve on a pnuematic hammer and smash it into the seat. This pounds the valve and the seat and is not providing any form of seal just ruining the the mating faces. Lapping valves should be avoided all together it is old technology which does not last anywhere the time of a properly cut seat. So it can properly work you need both the valve and seat machined which defeats the purpose of (doing it yourself).
