@tommybooth53982 ай бұрын
@@all-caps3927 looks are subjective, and the NC has a REAL fully retractable hardtop unlike the ND’s fastback. Dunno about more reliable… it’s just a lot newer and a lot more expensive!. The NC is by far the best daily driver, spacious cabin and boot. Surprised you say drives nicer, I’ve found it has really really light steering, not very precise
@all-caps39272 ай бұрын
@ all fair points on your behalf. I just think the NC’s hard top (which are much rarer) have issues as they get older and they’re just another thing to worry about. Realistically in the UK you won’t be taking the top off until the summer I general so the fact it isn’t retractable is no issue. In terms of price, yes it’s more expensive, but they’re both relatively cheap compared to sports cars that are newer from other well established brands. You can get a good MX-5 RF for sub 14K easily which isn’t a bad choice at all for a 2nd or 3rd car. In terms of driving, I absolutely love the precise drive of the NC. But tbh, in a low HP car the light steering is much for exciting for me in the ND. It feels more ‘throwable’ if you get what I mean. The way it drifts from corner to corner is serendipitous. I don’t know, I love both cars anyway - but the look of the ND is just much more prestigious. Once I’m looking for a second car for the weekends I’ll definitely be considering an ND along an Audi S3 as my daily.
@tommybooth53982 ай бұрын
@ that’s fair enough, if I had the budget I’d probably grab a high spec 2 litre ND. But I think for the prices in the UK a facelift hardtop NC offers loads of fun and value a lot more accessible for most than an ND. I love all 4 gens of MX5 regardless 🙌

As if that s2000’s on its original Bridgestones! Surely you can’t still get those, must be hard as nails by now! Number plate blocking the air intake isn’t doing it any favours either 🤣
@N4CR2 ай бұрын
Re002 was closest years ago not sure what it is now. They had dedicated tyres and Boxter ones are closest. I've gotten rid of them to run much bigger wheels because it has nearly 3x rwhp and torque.
@adam_s2k2 ай бұрын
@ yeah I know they were specific to the s2000, but pretty sure they stopped being available back in like 2010 🥴 the RE002’s have been discontinued a few years now too. Think you can get Yoko v105’s and Michelin PS4’s in the pre facelift 16” sizes 🤔

So the lessons are: 1) stock, the S2000 is still better than the other two are stock. 2) if you want an inexpensive car to mod, nothing beats a MX5.

The 1/4 time should be around 14.0s for a stock s2000. This 15.6s result is very slow.

Wet condition affect its initial launch
@twba19772 ай бұрын
@@PerformanceNation33 I found in the wet I could get really good launches as the wheelspin can drop you into the power quicker and not wreck the drive train...remember these do 44mph in 1st gear...its a tall gear !
@Kaesarx2 ай бұрын
Agreed, I own one and thought this just seems slow for an S2000 so not sure what's going on with that one.
@totov76732 ай бұрын
Its not true these are real world test and number. A s2000 will never do 14s 😂. Look at mazda x5 did 14.6 with 280 HP and toyota GT did 15.0 with 300 HP. Yes it was slighly wet condition I would knock out maybe 0.5 max than 0.3 bc non prep surface so in realty. S2000 in great condition 14.9-15.0
@sheva4ever12 ай бұрын
@@totov7673 I have no problem to run 0-100 figures from the specs with my FWD Abarth with manual gearbox and it is about +0.5-0.7s in the wet. I've measured it with the Dragy and I'm nowhere near the professional level. From the other hand Mat drag raced hundreds of cars. I think he knows how to start and how to shift in the wet. This s2000 in very bad condition in my opinion and you can see it under the hood too.

Had the Jackson racing supercharger on my old BRZ. I much prefer my Fiesta ST with the hybrid turbo upgrade. $1500 turbo, $500 accessport, $300 e-tune, $300 intercooler and $150 intake…some ethanol and you get 300whp, 300 ft. lb of torque and 2500-2600 pounds without a back seat and spare tire in the back. Awesome fun in the canyons….awesome fun in the street.
