Yo. Couple pieces of advice to help you with growing in the desert. Start composting right away. There are some good tutorials on youtube. Also, if you can find a source get yourself some woodchips and start spreading them on the ground. Your dirt will become soil within a year or two and the wood chips will retain moisture. If you cannot get wood chips get a decent wood chipper and start running the shrubs through a chipper. Look into the "Back to Eden" method and other composting videos. I put down about 6 inches of wood chips on my land and it went from dusty baron dirt to beautiful soil within a couple years.

Did you check with the secretary of state on what you are allowed on the property? Is it unrestricted land?

Unfortunately open pools of water will breed mosquitoes
