Hey Buddy, I cant thank you enough for your help! Oura is a 2004. Is the seal kit from ebay effective for the rebuild? Are there any videos for this youd recommend? I sure hope we can get our rig on the road soon!

I have 2 videos on this pump rebuild. They show the same process but each has a little bit of help that was missed on the other so watch them both. Here is the latest link to the kit I used several times, on different vans naturally. amzn.to/3UmIDLF

I'm trying to figure out if one or the other pump needs to be replaced/rebuilt. I get an engine light, and then the van bogs down and I have to push the accelerator more to get it to continue to speed up or maintain speed. Sometimes it'll act like nothing is wrong shortly after that happens, or it'll stay like that for a while before acting normal again. The gas gauge doesn't read correctly and hasn't since I bought the van, but I know the tank is full (just filled it), so I'm wondering if you have any idea if this is a pump problem or something else. I really appreciate any help you can provide. Your videos have helped me out a few times now.

Almost certainly something else. Sounds like you are having boost issues with a 2002 or 2003 in USA, or are you somewhere else? The most canon cause for the symptoms you detail is the turbo vacuum actuator under the passenger side headlight. Without reading codes I am guessing with less than enough data. But look into this part before jumping into fuel pump issues. Our high pressure pumps leak before they fail. Quantity and pressure control valves are possible culprits but without codes pointing us to fuel or boost system we are guessing. millionmilesprinter.com/products/turbo-actuator-2002-2003-only

How to check the high pressure fuel pump is bad or not with no ecm connection?
@FloridaVanMan
@FloridaVanMan Жыл бұрын
With an OM612 the fuel pump will usually leak, dripping fuel onto the serpentine belt. OM647 vans have a different looking fuel pump that is harder to diagnose.
@donner101
@donner101 9 ай бұрын
What is the purpose of the sensor on the top is it just for diagnostics or does it have a mechanical purpose because I am looking for a new one but many of them come without the senor connector despite claiming to be compatible with my van which is the type in your video with the plastic sensor connector.
@FloridaVanMan
@FloridaVanMan 8 ай бұрын
I believe what you are calling a sensor is the fuel quantity control valve, though I am not certain. It has been a few years since I had one of these pumps open.

What symptoms are you addressing by rebuilding this?
@FloridaVanMan

They leak when the seals go bad, dripping fuel on the belt, which swells and curls after a days soaking.

I think the links in descriptions have expired and may be deleted. Amazon an eBay is my source for pump rebuild kits. The low pressure fuel lines I get from either MillionMileSprinter or EuroParts-SD online.

Hello sir crazy job you doing posting videos about the sprinters I did remove high pressure pump on 2002 Freightliner one thing I'm not sure how to put back butterfly piece what's slides on on the pump shaft I think you call it cam fell out and because one side is round little bit it and other side is 90 degrees I do not know whichway supposed to go back on the pump shaft before you install HP pump back to the engine would you be able to advise thank you very much for your help
@FloridaVanMan
@FloridaVanMan 4 жыл бұрын
This is not a critical point. I usually put the side with sharp corners close to the pump, then the rounded corners make it easier to align when pressing the pump onto the engine. Getting this piece on backwards will only mean a bit more wiggle to get the pump on the engine. Once it is assembled it makes no difference.

I live over in Longwood not too far from you. I had to remove my high pressure injector pump on my 2002 sprinter 2500 when I did I used some masking tape to Mark which plastic lines went where right after that I hurt my back in the being of September and here I am now 11 months later putting it back together and my matching tape to identify my fuel lines has fallen off so I don't know what you see supply and which is return on either side of the pump. I watched all your pump rebuild videos but you did not identify them as to which was pressure and which is returned plus I've looked all over the Internet and can't find anything so I thought maybe you could answer that question for me. Especially the two on the passenger side of the pump.

I assume you did not intentionally leave the o ring out of the 1st head you put back on the pump?
@FloridaVanMan

You must be mistaken. There were no odd parts left over and the pump has been working perfectly for two years now.

@@brandongrantham1896 I've watched the video today. I made the video 2 years ago. there were no O-rings left over and the van still runs on this pump. I'm unclear which O-ring you say is missing. Do you mean the one I push in with a pencil? It's there.
@brandongrantham1896
@brandongrantham1896 Жыл бұрын
@@FloridaVanMan At 14:30 you begin to assemble the 1st head onto the pump. There is no large o-ring in that head- period, full stop. I'm only making a point of this incase anyone did what I did- which is wonder why there was no ring in that head, yet subsequent heads you point out the large o-ring.
