I know this series is a couple years old now, but I have a Cleveland in my F100 pickup, and I have probably watched this whole series all the way through probably 6 or 7 times now just to familiarize myself with everything. The way you go about everything is so thorough and informative. Now I'm to the point where I get to put all this information to use on my engine. Thanks for doing the series!

I feel like I won the lottery! I have bought a 1973 351 cobra jet and 2 things I was looking for something to tinker with and the block I have is a 4 bolt main this is why I bought it, so being a first timer at engine building and you have posted great material on youtube that I am gonna follow religiously, I really like your style and I just gotta thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge its going to help me greatly!! side note I am from Calgary alberta and back in 1999-2000 I lived in Australia for a year working on a cotton farm and was a bar tender I did purchase a yank tank 77 ford Fairlane 500 loved the car and gave it to the ol boy who owned the 2 Mile Hotel in Mungindi NSW he was a hilux kinda guy but didn't mind getting a free car. Anyhow thanks for what you've don here!

I see now what they' ve done to aid the oiling of the crank with the offset extra larger oiling hole cast or drilled into the block journal. I noticed before the middles of the crank bearings on the 302 Cleveland were not the solid types I've seen in ours in the states. no wonder you've had them around for so many years longer than we did here after they cleared up those restricted oiling problems. thanks again Peter for your videos and sharing your valuable time and experience.

Thanks you so much for putting it in a playlist. I love watching your videos and you are very knowledgeable. I am 15 and myself and my dad have bought a 351 Windsor and are in the process of stripping and hopefully putting high compression heads, 2 of the cylinders having pitting from where the previous owner left the air cleaner off the engine and left it sit outside. Although tare down is looking good hopefully will get it bored and use the same rotating assembly. Your videos have been very helpful.

I purchased a 4 bolt main block ( bare) and a set of untouched 4 barrel/closed chamber heads. No rotating assembly. With that being said, I have a 2 barrel Cleveland that's complete. Would the rotating assembly from the 2 barrel engine fit the 4 bolt block?
@PeterAndersons2 жыл бұрын
Yes, all the same... as long as it's 302/351 Cleveland and not 351/400M (Modified), they have a taller deck and I'm unsure about the journal diameters, cheers.

What's in the XW / XY ? (sorry my ford-spotting skills aren't up to par on my GM, but I'm getting there) I started off in Holdens, but I like cars of all makes, it's a bit amateurish to just like one brand and hate all others in my opinion. I reckon a Barra turbo 6 would go great in one of those, you can get stupid amounts of power out of those with only minimal mods and they seem to hold together as long as you take care of them right.

I always liked the look of the landau coupes, which had the same grille as your fairlane / LTD . Come to think of it, I don't think I have seen many if any at all of late. There weren't many made to begin with and many were probably turned into normal GT coupes during the 80s when nobody cared.

Ok at 15:41 there is a hole in the block. it is not a machined hole it looks like it is broken. I have 2 cleveland dove 4bolt blocks out of a 73 mach 1s. one has that hole the other dosent. my question is, what is the purpose of it?

I would say good luck with the cam and flat tappets. I had an engine built in late 2021, Comp cam was from 2019 with lifters. Lasted 25 minutes for cam break in and the cam ruined my engine. Going back to machine shop tomorrow. Going with Howard's Rattler roller cam on a 351m build. Even custom forged pistons and fully balanced. SUCKS.

Always put a magnet in the pan to capture any metal that may end up in it. Even in a good engine there's always some wear.

so 40 thou you would not recommend, was looking at complete motor
@PeterAndersons6 жыл бұрын
All good... .040 is fine but some say it will take any future re-boring room out of the block, so it's effectively maxed out... others say they will go to .060. either way sonic testing will ascertain that. My block was a peach, so I just wanted to go .020 so as little material was removed as possible.

Peter Anderson thanks for your reply, the reason I ask is I'm looking at complete motor and the vehicle I'm wanting to put it in I drive rarely.
