I want to speak to the fact that it's never too late to play music. I gave up guitar for a mixture of reasons about seven or eight years ago. A few months ago something sparked in me and I needed to play again. After a few weeks of shaking off the rust I feel like I'm improving at at rate that I haven't since I first started playing. it's good to be back

Same happened to me during the pandemic. Go start a Craigslist band. It'll push you to the next level. There are loads of people in the community > musicians looking for people to jam with.

It really never is too late. I started playing guitar in my teens way back in 2006. I stopped playing around the time I got into college because I no longer had any time for music, and I lot contact with my band members. About 10 years later, a funny thing happened, and I watched the Bocchi the Rock anime and it just lit the fire in me again. The anime was so funny and relatable and reminded me of why I loved playing back then. Now, I picked up my old Ibanez again, and not only am I derusting, I am also focusing on improving again, and this time I actually want to make my own music, not just learning random songs to cover in my bedroom. Music is a wonderful thing.

You feel old? I bought my SG because I saw a photo of the original guitarist of Chicago playing one. I don't think he played one for very long, but it was enough to influence me to buy one new back in 1976.

Omg, what a dream project. I haven’t watched the entire thing yet(typing as I watch), I recommend adding at 1k, 1/4w resistor between one of the bottom lugs of the splittable pot, and run it to ground. This engages just a tiny bit of the second coil, so you get the coil split tone, but still him canceling. It’s similar to the PRS dgt wiring, I think.

First, you do a cool restoration build, so I follow you for that. Then you do a Bocchi the Rock build and now an xRakine collab? Did somebody just upload my search history directly into the algorithm and send it to you, or something? I'd been watching his Deserted series since maybe a few episodes after it started, and the same way he's one of the content creators that's gotten me back into OSRS, you are one that's gotten me more excited about playing music lately. It'd be cool to see him bring out the SG sometime, since I'm always of the mind "the best content is what the creator's excited about making"

This was wonderful! Love the Rory Mercury theme too, Gate is one of my favourites! Couldn't agree more with the 'it's never too late' message too. I quit playing around 2010 when it stopped being fun being in a band, but picked it up again when the pandemic started and it's been incredible. I've been recording, reaching out to old bandmates to jam, and just having fun with it again. Like Jacob, it's definitely been spurred on by folks like yourself, so I appreciate what you do!

This video couldn't have come at a better time for me. I have the exact same SG special and she's been sitting in a bag for over 5 years now. If you choose to get an SG, I think you would like the SG modern as it has coil splits and a phase change push pull pot, it’s almost the fancy mojo tone wiring harness that also has a series/Parallel switch.

I really appreciate the message you put into this video. I just left the music project I was helping a friend with, and have stopped playing in church after 12 years of playing (the whole time I've been a guitarist). Stopping feels weird, guilty almost. But I stopped enjoying playing because I never did it for myself and was always feeling the pressure to do it for someone else or to a deadline of some kind. I'm glad to be taking a step back and re-evaluating my relationship to the instrument. Thank you for your wholesomeness Nisebelle!

Great job job on the headstock and very cool way of demoing the coil splits at the end. Seymour Duncan awesome company to send those pickups! There's so many great pickup manufacturers out there and all have been very friendly with correspondence. Yesterday I got a set of SD Seth Lovers to put in a Jazzmaster (I have a lot of normal JM's!) and was surprised to see them signed by Mr. Duncan on the bottom.

SG's are cool. i was considering an SG project since i couldn't get a flying v project going, but instead ended up with a les paul for the current project. none of that is important though. anyways, i already have an SG jr, and not long ago i swapped out all the knobs and pickguard for cream, so now it looks like a reverse ice cream sundae or something. point being, SGs are super, and also this is a rad video.

I was turned off to guitar playing by a strict, intolerant teacher for about 10 years. The spirit has to move you to play, and so if you want to play, try and rekindle that spirit. Don't put pressure on yourself, just do what is natural and fun and gets you holding the guitar.
