Best of luck with it. If you get stuck just ask.

I also spin my engines to get the oil pressure light to extinguish before trying to start them

I like the way you’ve located the air filter. Did you cut n weld the outfeed end back on to put the drain at the bottom?
@knackeredrovers Жыл бұрын
Yes, that’s exactly how I did it. I have changed things around a bit though since the video was shot. I now have a 300 Tdi manifold setup, which necessitated a bit of a pipework revision. When I get the time I will be redoing the mounting to rotate the filter housing 180° and put the inlet at the back instead.

@@knackeredrovers I just started on the bracket to hold the clamps today.

You had a defender manifold didn’t you ?
@knackeredrovers Жыл бұрын
Yes, those are Defender manifolds in the video. I ran them from 2007 through until about this time last year.

You ever used those heater plugs. Had mine in four years, never takes longer than half a rev regardless of temp!

No, I don’t think I’ve used them in the fifteen years and 150K+ miles since I first converted to Tdi 🤣

@@knackeredrovers mine started in minus six a fraction slower than it does on any other day. In the south of England that’s about as bad as it’s going to get. I’ve got the button on my aux dash ready to wire up but I know I’ll never bother.

Just started to get interested in land rovers. I've read that it's more difficult and expensive to get parts now for the 200tdi compared to the 300tdi . Do you mind me asking what's been your experience of this? Keep up the good work 🙂👍

200 engines used to be readily available and cheap, as literally thousands of Discovery Ones came to the end of their lives in the late nineties and noughties. Sadly, most of them are long gone now. Cylinder heads and vacuum pump drives are hard to find, but not necessarily expensive when you do. I have a couple of spare engines, and will probably rebuild one at some point before too much longer. The 300 is more awkward to fit in that you have to do something with the driver’s side engine mounting because they have that whole side of the engine arranged differently to all the earlier versions. Personally, I’d advise going the 200 route, with possibly a set of 300 manifolds, but it does depend hugely on your budget, skill level and a big chunk of luck with what’s available when you’re looking.

Was it muchvof a job to do
@knackeredrovers8 ай бұрын
Not really. I'm lucky to have a lot of tools and experience though. How big a job it is will really depend on where you're starting it from. If you've never done anything like it before, have limited resources and have to work outside, then it's a pretty big job.

@knackeredrovers no all good on building it ,just wondered engine to gearbox, propshafts etc set up
@knackeredrovers7 ай бұрын
Gearbox is a stock four speed late series 3 one, so props are standard. Bolts straight up to the tdi bellhousing after swapping a couple of studs around and a little bit of fettling.
