Working the way thru your videos. 2:30 brought back a '73 model memory from Recondo School. At the end of the rappelling day, near dark, each student had to do the one hand bowline before any of us could go to chow. LOL & Pressure. Appreciate the fervor in your posts Corporal. -former recondo sgt. 'rock' 82nd abn. 1/504 inf. 11b4p '71-'74 In Recon... "You're best fight, is the one that never happened." 9717

Excellent idea to practice the bowline one-handed and blindfolded. I broke my shoulder on a solo hike a couple of years ago and (while "self'rescuing") I found that doing things with my remaining useful hand/arm was difficult. Thank you for the instruction!

Technically that would be one hand and a foot bowline. Excellent demo, how to tie and secure.

I'll be sure to try this, I'll probably mess it up somehow but with practice comes perfection.

That's the best way I learned how to do the bowline. I have trouble going through the rabbit hole.

while I understand the importance of the double overhand for critical applications, is it really necessary in this scenario? the bowline only slips when not loaded, and I understand the one armed application for rescue, especially in water. no opportunity for slack in that scenario. just wondering what your thoughts on that were. great video by the way, very well done.

While under stress in a dangerous situation you may not tie this knot 100% correct so the second knot absolutely prevents the first from giving out, which would mean you falling back down into whatever trouble you were being hoisted out of. Two is one and one is none.

Never knew it was called a double overhand knot. I think of it as half of a grapevine knot. I used it a lot in rock climbing.

I am not sure where you are but it sure rains a lot there LOL In a lot of your videos its coming down in a light drizzle sounds like. Anyway Good video and I have only one question for you. How is that knot system used to help a person? I mean its pretty loose on you so I wouldnt use it to raise or lower someone with it like that. Can you expand on that idea possibly for your next video? Thank you very much. Have a great week

1st comment! I always say no matter the task, practice it with both hands rather then just your dominant hand.

Mmmm hmmmm. One handed this time. That's just showing off! 😅😆... 15 seconds later. He blindfolds himself. 🤦♂️
