$4.10 on ebay for just the bag (no shoulder strap). AWESOME, we got 3 of these for a 9-man squad, and in addition to 10 C's (with bic + plastic fresnel, and 50' paracord), fits whistle (20 cent aluminum), "emergency OTC pharma" in a clear plastic baggy, and things like machetes are carried by our 2 scouts (with smaller 32oz water...they keep it LIGHT:and are pair to 2 of the guys who carry these 3 water + "camping accessories" (small shit that's nice to not be a "group kit" so we can split into three fireteams of 3 men each OR 5 + 4 fireteams (with Squadleader choosing which squad he'll escort, so each squad has a GROUP SHARED "oh fuck" amount of SMALL, LIGH camping-emergency EXTRA survival stuff + BIG waterbottle so they're not always going to our guy who pushes an old bicycle with 50lbs of gear (way easier to ROLL it than to CARRY it, and ya STAY LIGHT / FAST if enemy contact is made.), with rarely-needed spares (like a spare BOLT and "drop-in trigger" if someone cracks theirs, gets a pebble stuck in the trigger parts while shooting prone-position, overheats or ruins a firing-pin or cam-pin in the middle of a fire-fight just replace the WHOLE bolt and worry which part overheated or jammed up LATER), plus *_some "luxury camping / morale & barter" items + FOOD + GALLONS of water on the bike. You don't RIDE the bike, just walk next to it like it's a "pack animal": The SECOND AR308 gunner (or anyone with lightly injured leg(s) ) can REST his upper-body weight on the bike-handles as he pushes/rolls it,_* and since he's toward the rear of the stack/other formation, he can just toss the bike someplace concealed for later retrieval, as he or Squad Leader decides where it's best to position his heavier firepower. The "small EMERGENCY camping /light bare-basics" in this type of bag means we don't put ALL our "eggs in one basket".

* also 45gal 2mil bag, instead of tarps; we keep tarps in that "main" kit. And small wrench/lock-picks + pliers-multi-tool + Sawyer&micron-sieves, and only 48oz water...to make space for the other items.

I'm disappointed. I just got the Pathfinder Bottle Bag just to find out it was made in China. I not only paid 30 for the UPS service, but I paid an extra 100 dollars for 'custom taxes', I live in Chinada (former Canada). My order was for 250 aprox and I paid 130 for the delivery (including the tariffs because all of the products were made in China). If you see Dave, please tell him this is sooo wrong, not only for the store, his reputation, but for USA.

Lol I can’t believe you used the word bannock. I’ve never heard anyone from the states use that word before. I’m from Canada and I guess I thought it was more commonly used up this way. Most people I’ve heard mention it from the states have called it fry bread. Anyways awesome video there corporal. They always get me in the mood to go through my gear and make it more manageable. Have a great day bud. Love the little bush craft tips you always got.

Great information and presentation! My two cents... The bottle bag has external webbing; which means the preferred 5", fixed blade cutting tool, could be attached to the outside.

As someone who has gone through the Pathfinder School’s Basic and Intermediate courses, I have to say, this load out is about as close to perfect as you can get while carrying minimal gear. This is a brilliant idea and this kit should be in everyone’s vehicle for an emergency.

CPL Kelly, a couple things to add, by adding an MRE-First Strike all day meal tan TRASH bag around your bottle and tarp wrap, it slides down easy ( kind of like when we were kids and mom put baggies on so our boot go on easy), it also seals at the top in case your cap is loose, you save any spilled water. Add a LID to that cup and store in the zippered cap, I added a piece of elastic to the zippered cap so the cup lid stays put. I also have the bottle stove, when in the plastic bag and at the bottom of the bottle, it slides down easy.

Thank you for teaching me about the 10C. And I tried it behind the house , and everything you was talking about is TRUE , and work out great ; but it was a little colder at night so I had to get some wool blankets out the house. And I move the fire around the blankets and everything worked great. I live in city (Baltimore , Maryland ) and teaching my grandchildren a new way of live. They close down the boys club, and the recreation center, where I learnt from to be a boy scout. But now it's so much crazy people out there, who can you trust with your children. Great idea. My mind is already thinking, empty water bottle, put a water filter in it, a signal mirror and whistle would be good additional items as well. Now I'll have one more stuffed small survival bag that never gets used, there's got to be a point where redundancy meets excessive. Or, is that obsessive/compulsive? Maybe hoarding is more to the point. At any rate, it's gotta be a disease of some kind.

By FAR, one of the best videos I have see yet. I loved the fact that this was NOT just another demo video of a product but a video that in my opinion Trained you on what to bring on your first outing and Why you should bring it. Once you got used to doing that I'm sure you would always make sure to have those 10 basic survival items. Then I began to appreciate the product that carried all of those items and then some. There was not one item that wasn't necessary nor would i skimp on any one item. Thank you for this video and I look forward to viewing others.

I love the way you put that....."The important take away is to know why you are carrying the 10 C's and how to use them." So many people load up on gear and have no practical knowledge of the usage of each item. That's why I practice and I'm always learning something new or better ways from my own mistakes. I started my own channel for a basic timeline for myself and to document my camp experiences. It is guys like you Dave Canterbury and Grey bearded green beret who have inspired me to get out and enjoy life. For that sir... I thank all of you!

Based on this video, I picked up some of the Kodiak Power Cake mix for making bannock. I used a cast iron skillet and a bit of olive oil to "fry" it, and ...WOW! They are really good!!! I just used 1/2 cup of mix and about 1/3 cup water for a denser bread/biscuit like texture and smooshed it nice and flat after I flipped it. It went great with my chicken & rice soup for lunch. These would really be outstanding when in the field. Carbs, lots of protein, and a good amount of fiber, too. OUTSTANDING!!!

What blew my mind was what you did with the banana. That was cool. I actually have the one Pathfinder sold yrs ago, it came with the military cup with the cup it sat inside. I bought two small pouches from Amazon and put them on each end which c gave me even more room. I got the idea from someone on KZbin that was advertising a 150+ bag that I wasn’t paying that kind of money for, so I made my own. And it’s just as effective. My snacks I purchased a small toiletry bag and bought some small bungee cords and strapped it to the bottom of bag. I’m rocking and rolling now. Probably about $15 of add ons. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

@@Devil0983 Master Gunnery Sergeant would use it as a training moment, dress you out with his gear, and then have you carry it and re-equip just like he had it "for training". Sergeant Major would just have all his gear in a big sea bag, find a sturdy Marine and tell him to hump it for him. Either way, no one would complain. I humped the pack of a CWO5 during a long night move, no complaints. Those guys are legends.

Stumbled on this video looking for lightweight packing ideas for motorcycle camping. Well done. Another great feature of the MC3 compass, it is gimbled so it will also work south of the equator. I also carry Bic lighters in my 24 hour bug out bag, but I don't expect them to work every time. Cold temps, gas leaks, or they get broken. Like your video, I back it up with a ferro rod.

Great kit. The only thing I couldn't understand was rolling the tarp around the bottle without using the relief for the bulkiness of the tarp's grommets. And, wouldn't you want the relief space at the top, for ease of extraction, anyway? Just wondering about those things. Edit: After viewing the kit vid again, one thing I have thought of to mod the kit is to have the flat stick be fatwood (for durability and firestarting), and form it into a netting needle shuttle (for making nets and even serve as a hobo reel as well). The multipurpose aspect of the single mod is a powerful force multiplier when combined with the inner strands of the paracord option for cordage. Just remember to wrap some small size 16 trout hooks in a tape made pouch, under the cordage you fasten around the shuttle. I also pair size 2/0 circle hooks for catching bonifide meal-sized fish from my panfishing adventures, so, I'd wrap those up on the other side. I use a dropshot rig for panfishing, and a splitshot rig for landing meals, so pack some small weights too (I just use the classic weights for both applications, so hopefully there is room for them inside, or you could expand the kit with a molle attachment).

Amazing, sir! Got the core kit elements narrowed down. That certainly leaves the option of keeping the 10 C's core kit at your side (literally) and can then place extra carry-on gear into a small back pack; if someone wants to carry extra gear, necessities and etc. And, if something happens that one needs to dump gear and go light, just hide the back pack (or whatever) and take off with the new PF bottle with the 10 C's core kit. And that certainly exposes good planning methods because I like having more gear but I do understand that something could happen and cause someone to move light.

I know this is an old video but, I wanted to mention that I liked it overall. Lots of good info in this. I can see that there are things that I need to ad to my canteen kit. Mine is the smaller one by Condor. It's designed for the 40oz Kleen Kanteen. Which is something I was wondering about with your kit. Just think of all the room you would have in that larger bag if you used a 40oz Kleen Kanteen instead. Small IFAK maybe? That beefier tarp you were talking about. More food as well.

I’ve been using a similar setup for years. Way better than the stupid canteen and cup setup they issued us back in the day 😂 I added a Molly dump pouch that folds up. I always keep it empty, real useful when you want to take off layers, find something you want to carry like berries, or whatever you might scavenge. I don’t keep a tarp in mine though, I prefer the oversized military ponchos. Love your vids, rah.

Your kit covers the ten essentials for survival. Mine is a cooking kit using the Stanley Cook Kit to keep in my Jeep , Wrangler for boon docking. Using a Condor H20 pouch. Starting at the bottom of the of the pouch there is a Oilcamp Stainless Steel Space Saver Cup. Then the Stanley Adventure Cook Camp System which fits ( sits ) inside the cup. The tapered sides of the Stanley Camp Cook kit fits inside the cup like it was made for it. Along the outside of the Stanley is a long handled Titanium spoon. Inside the Stanley is the Gen2 Folding Firebox Nano Ultralight Backpacking 3" Stove. On top of the Stanley is a Trangia Alcohol burner so I can cook with either alcohol or wood. The outside pocket of the Condor has a plastic ( Flask shaped ) 8 oz bottle which has the Denatured Alcohol for the Trangia. Next to it is a fero rod for lighting the burner or starting a fire. Folded next to the fero rod is a bandana which can be used if the handles of either pot gets to hot for a bare hand to touch. A few months later I added two canteen pouches one on each side of the Condor H20 pouch. One pouch has a Nalgene canteen in it and the other pouch has a couple dehydrated meals. Thanks to using a wood fire the Stanley has a nice blacken bottom and sides which I think helps it to heat up quicker.

The one I purchased was camo but not the camo we’re accustomed to, it was like desert camo. I’m glad I purchased it, it was one of the few times I made a good decision.

Great idea. I love this bag i got a whole 64oz container and basics in the pouch. The big container is a tight fit but your set up is really a great idea i may have to copy you, peace.

The bandannas can be used for tourniquets and the needles can also be used for sutures in extreme cases.

This is awesome, utilize the inside of the bottle for extra storage until you get to camp since your bottle won't be in the bag there anyways. Take advantage of the molle webbing to strap on a med pouch or hygiene pouch and this could replace most of the stuff people take a 40lbs bag for on an overnight trip. Certain redundancies carried on your person just to be safe, extra knife, poncho that doubles as a blanket or sleeping bag if weather permits it. Could probably strap a small folding saw to the sides as well

One other thing the Bic lighter can give you is sparks as well should the fuel be used up or evaporate. You can also carry a striker from a Bic lighter if you would like. If you have a small Flashlight, you can use the mold that concentrates the light from the bulb to concentrate the sun's light/heat. I remember that from Billy Dee Williams in the TV Movie 'Lost Flight' that starred Loyd Bridges back in the 70's. A good movie on survival if you can find it. A good video and break down on what to put into the Pouch, thank you for it.

Greetings amigo. I'm an old former navy destroyer man but served in a special warfare unit for a couple of years back in the '70s. I would like to see a video of the super solar still (not the regular solar still) if possible. Much higher water output, as in enough to live on perhaps, and not much more trouble to fashion. It seems not too many people are even aware of this tool for survival. Thanks. Informative as always.

I always add a small bottle of iodine - costs about two bucks, it's the size of a chapstick and you can disinfect wounds and chemically purify a lot of water.

Yo, Corporal having this bag I would not count on it to hold that much. It’s not a heavy duty bag period Id never rely on it for survival. Way better options as military surplus even if they cost more. Spend more (and often less used) get better gear combat tested. Having several of those style bags tested with my dog on easy hikes. I’d not depend on them to cover my rear housing group. (Yep, I too was a jarhead Corporal). Old school/new school mix of mil-surp beats Chinese crap every time. Your experience and knowledge of field ops is exceptional. Enjoy all yer videos and learn from them keep it up.

half the price of my maxpedtion 12 x 5, but some of the stitching looks a little iffy. as far as material is concerned the pathfinder (china, mainland) uses 600 denier polyester while the maxpedition (taiwan) is triple coated polyurethane 1000 ballistic nylon. with regards to quality of construction maxpedition pretty much writes the book on it, can't speak for pathfinder, may be better, may be worse. on the other hand cross a river and fall off the log into the water and every thing in both are gonna get soaked. two other comments i totally agree with here are 1) stick a sawyer in there (probably inside you water bottle) and 2) toss the skimpy knife and utilize the webbing to hang a full tang on the outside :) great review, love the channel!

Great minds thing alike? My Maxpedition 12x5 has a Sawyer Filter and squeeze bag inside a water bottle, with some purification tabs and whatnot thrown in for good measure. maxpedition might be $$$, but its so worth it in the long run; it outlives everything else I own.

Maybe add a spare bic lighter attached to paracord connected to a roll of chapstick with a cotton ball & petroleum jelly in the cap and then add gaffers or gorilla tape around each. Adding a small zip tie around the button of the bic lighter prevents your lighter from losing its fuel and can be removed and replaced once zipped, clipping the extra length makes it a little sharp though can be filed to prevent cuts. Plus the adhesive sticker is also flammable, once you have a empty lighter, if the wheel is removed slowly the springs can be made into a snare & fishing hook and the childproof metal can be removed and can also be made into a fishing hook.
