I know RE5 is a controversial point for the fanbase. My take has always been that the main line series has been survival horror while the off-shoots were for more alternative game styles. While this one blurred that line, I cannot deny I had a ton of fun playing this with friends when it first came out. RE5 was a fantastic game. I think a lot of its critics aren't remembering the original game as it really was, a game based on corny b-movie monster flicks, complete with horrible acting. Sure it was scary at times, but it was also camp, and I think people sometimes write it off as an issue with the times it was made in, whereas I loved how over the top it sometimes was. My man was loosing his shit, not going to let another partner die in front of him, so desperate he was going ham on a boulder. I got caught up in the hype and didn't care if it was realistic. I think we sometimes deny ourselves enjoyment because we like to be able to say why, but good camp is often in this void where it's so bad it's good but not so bad that it's simply bad, it's just corny enough that we can love it for trying.

Resident evil 1 sucks it introduced new ideas to gaming but even back then I didn't like it. Re 2 was where the series really hit its stride. And re 4 is one of the best games ever. And re 5 is fantastic aswell I will always have fond memories of it and I've beat it 4 or 5 times with like 4 different friends and it's been great fun every time

Despite *repeated* runs of RE2, I probably spent the most time on this one, and remains the last RE game I've ever played. I really loved it. Wesker, though, felt weak as a villain as the climax approached. The whole 'saving the world' speech made him seem far less threatening. If he really was off the rails, and intent on destroying *everything*, that would've left him far more intimidating. I love your language disclaimers, by the way. You pronounced Weltall perfectly, despite this. Also, Breath of Fire 4 in the future? Heck yes! I can't wait for that one, even if the game was released incomplete. See you on the next one. ALSO, also... "After he's cut down to size with the decapitation..." I just had to pause the video to laugh and laugh.

Hi Oni. Thanks for these RE videos. Have started subscribing to you, and will go through them slowly. I stopped gaming after playing the first hour or two of this, and haven't play a game on any console or PC since that time 😸 Played a lot of the earlier RE games, so I've been curious to see where the story as a general goes. I'm a dedicated film fan, so it's always about a good story and characters, directing and production values, etc. for me. Dislike the RE films though, who doesn't 👻

Nice recap, but a few things. BIO5 is the best selling entry in the series and remains so to this day with BIO6 being the second best selling. It was also CAPCOM's best selling game overall for years until Monster Hunter World took its place. Jill's antibodies were only from the strain of t-virus Nemesis infected her with, they had nothing to do with t-Abyss. Wesker was in complete control of his mutation with Uroboros since he was one of few with adaptable genes to it.

I really enjoy this game. Just purachased itbagaib on steam for $5. And i 100% it on ps3/4 and plan on doing it again. I love the original horror and looking forward to REmake 2. But this has been one of my favorite ones

As much as i loved the survival classics and the new ittiration of resi 2. Resi 5 is still and will always be my favorite. So many good times of playing on ps3 with my close friend. And to now on ps4. And i also got it for pc. Playing this game of professional is still pretty hard regardless of unlimited ammo or not. With Jill and wesker part, even the el gigante. One smack on that keep pretty much dead and have to fire the right times. Great game

As long as the track is an original piece and from the game, and not a licensed song... and it's played low enough as I narrate over it... then it falls under fair use. Rarely a company does slap me with a copyright content claim, but almost always I dispute and win given it is being used in a transformative/educational work.

I feel like Jill should've helped take down Wesker, I mean it wasn't just Chris that screwed up whatever he was doing in the original game it was Jill too. Don't get me wrong I like Sheva but it just didn't feel right to have her deal one of the killing blows while Jill who was there from the very beginning was just relegated to bystander, I mean to my knowledge Sheva didn't even know who Wesker was before the events of RE:5 even Claire knew who he was when she met him...actually while I'm mentioning Claire does anyone know how she knew who Wesker was in Code Veronica I'm sure she never met him before the events of that game...Back on topic. It just felt less impactful to have who was essentially a stranger deliver one of the killing blows to Wesker when both Chris and Jill were there, at the very least they could've let her fire a rocket at him she kind of earned it given what he did to her it just felt a bit off to have her be nothing more than a bystander, like I know she dropped the ladder and whatnot but I still wish she had at least got to fire a rocket at Wesker.

Like I don't mean to belittle Sheva's character because she really is awesome but taking down Wesker should've been Jill and Chris.

@@natbatlightwood5288 I remember feeling a little weird when Jill was hurt and then she kinda gives the nod that it's Chris's and Sheva's fight, but she was injured and Sheva has been fighting with Chris so it's okay. That was just a gut reaction, a feeling of taking away from the Jill and Chris partnership but it was logical for the story. Also Sheva has her own reasons for being there. I completely agree that it should've been Jill and Chris to finish Wesker, it was much more personal and lots of history. Additionally, if you only take into account Resident Evil 5, Jill was controlled by Wekser, giving Jill not only personal history with Wekser but an immediate feeling and reasons for revenge aswell as saving the world as a bonus.

I'm currently playing the game rn. I'm at the chapter in the ship, and maaaaan, this is probably one of my least favorite RE game that I have ever played post RE4. I loved 6 than 5, I played it and thought it would have a better plot and gameplay seeing how many "fans" hates 6. I like the base of the plot though, sadly it's just over shadowed by its wierd dialogue, certain cliches, and some technical stuff.
