Yes ...the problem for us in leaf nation is the structure of our team. We have put to much money into four forwards and not spending it properly on defense and goaltending. Worse yet these four have proven after 7 years that they are not built to play the hard nosed hockey required to win in the playoffs. Sadly it will be another first round exit for us this year.

U are correct ...where i first noticed it was in the bubble. He should have dominated Dubois on Columbus. He lost this head to head matchup . It was then i first noticed it and started to lose confidence in him as a playoff performer..

Last year Florida did nothing at the trade deadline and Vegas added Quick and Barbashev. Not a lot really. Some of the teams that went big got bounced first or second round. The pressure is on the big boys to make something happen, no outside help at all.

It’s funny because you’re right it’s a core of 5 And I can certainly do without Tavares and Rielly 18.5 million in cap space, and way over-rated in my personal opinion. The other 3 are paid highly but I see talent, JT and Rielly don’t have much to offer when not in possession. And, when in possession, good but not spectacular for that cap.

the moves he made were ok considering what he had to work with ,there wasnt much out there in terms of D men .Hanafin would have just been a rental as he made it clear he wanted to sign with a USA team .I think he should have outbid Dallas for Tanev and gave up the 2023 1st. I am not sure why he is so in love with the 2024 1st . By the time that player is ready to help you ,Matthews and Marner will be nearing the end of their prime . Gotta go for in NOW while you have the best goal scorer of this generation in his prime

The message is clear. This is the last dance. Either the core takes them on a run or they break up the band. Tre wasn't giving up a 1st, wasn't giving up Cowan or Minten, the cupboards were bare thanks to Dubas, you're tight against the cap so who are you moving out for someone that's available? St. Louis wasn't interested in trading etc. Tre did what he could. Love it or hate it, it's ride or die.

Team needs new coach. Team needs much better defense with true shutdown Dman top pair guy so Morgan can be traded or moved to second long as a number 3 or 4. When a team like Boston has your number, that usually indicates your coach is getting severely outcoached. The Leafs won't beat Boston or win anything, with Keefe behind the bench. Good coaches are like adding a superstar to your team. Look at the Panthers, look at the Flyers & Canucks, etc. The only chance in hell they have against Boston is if BOTH Marner and Matthews show up and if they get above average goaltending. Nylander proved he can show up, last year.

I feel like if you truly believe in your team you would have some more talking points about *why* you believe in them and not just saying that you believe in them. Also later in the call he says its not about just four guys. But then says in the following statement that everyone needs to be supporting their top guys. So like which is it? Idk good of him to do the show but he didnt really say a whole lot of anything other than he believes in the team without giving any real reason as to why which is kinda worrisome if you can’t identify any key trait(s) about why you believe in a group that has otherwise struggled in the post season.

There is no fault in his approach of what he couldn't do. As for what they did due cap restraints and what was previously done, he wasn't exactly in a position of strength. All this being said, the core players need to play at very different level that they haven't been able to in the last 7 yrs! No one is expecting 44 34 16 88 91 to run over or through people! But they need to get back up every time they put down break checks go to those dirty areas ! I don't care if Mathews scores 70 65 goals, I don't care if Marner and Nylander have another great point season ! Don't care of Travares Reilly are on the # 1 pp!! What a majority to care about is that these top players don't go MIA ! Do not stop playing hard or harder than have ever before!! It's time to rally the troops ! Put your personalities personal achievements aside and play for each other and emblem on the front of the jersey
