My idea for light cycle would be that they are the happiest Cybertronian ever. She literally can only be happy, and have the ability to pass this feeling onto other Cybertronians, which can improve the moral of allies, and possibly leave enemies in a state of ignorant bliss. The additional flaw is that she can be rather unnerving to be around when she isn’t using her abilities, and finds it difficult to communicate effectively, especially in a combat situation.

Good ideas all around, but I have an alternative suggestion for the Dead End repaint: Dead Heat, with a special sense for thermal radiation. I think it's still compatible with a lot of the characterization you gave him, I just think that with the brighter red and the fireball decals, Dead Heat is a more fitting name, and would play into the sensor theme.

A combiner team that can pinpoint weaknesses sounds utterly terrifying. It'd probably win every so far canon combiner, as it could find the links so they could cut limbs off perfectly and cut down a fellow combiner down to its components.

Hah! I dig all of them, but I just had to come up with something to utilize the gator on melon colored Mirage and some elements are very close to what you came up with. I personally called him Swamp Light. His motto is "Life is too serious to take seriously". He landed in Louisiana and loves parties, parades, and has a fascination with the human idea of Jesters and masks. He even modified himself to function in swampy waters and mud: something a garish F-1 car should NOT be able to do. He tends to drink a little too much energon, play too many pranks, and almost never shows up anywhere on time. With the ability to manipulate light and sound, he can create flashes and explosions, make it sound like he's somewhere else, and even blind or deafen an opponent. He's a master of distraction, re-direction, and showmanship. One of his strangest fascinations is with alligators - because he can manipulate light and sound, he has gotten to the point where he can fascinate and lead animals, and for some reason gets a kick out of making alligators chase and snap after moving lights and sounds - he can even make them "dance". The chaos he causes has resulted in some Autobots referring to him as "Florida Bot". Nonetheless, he's much more capable than he appears - even his insistence on loosening up other bots is usually only done if he honestly believes he's already planned for any problems that might result from it, and he DOES almost always has a plan - he just refuses to make it a boring one!

i'd like to see Sundown be a reimagined Unit-3 :) There are animal stripes on a yellow sportscar. I would imagine Incarcerous as the negative reflection of Defensor. While Defensor tries to protect people and property in the execution of their mission, Incarcerous is all about capturing their target regardless of the path of destruction they leave in their wake. Hoping Flatline gets a mold, even if it's a lambo repaint. Decepticon battlefield medic is such a fascinating role.

I'd name G2 Dead End "Dead Heat". A born competitor, Dead Heat is one of the fastest Decepticons, period. He's very confident in his abilities- and never lets his targets forget that, jacking into their comms and spouting nonsensical threats and boasts until he finally catches up with them. Unfortunately, he's also very competitive, and absolutely hates to lose. If he ever loses a "race", lets a quarry slip away, or has to retreat from the battlefield, he flies into a violent rage, turning on even his fellow Decepticons for their failure. At that point it's best to knock some sense back into him- or a bot will risk having the spark beaten out of them.

My wife and I did something similar when I first showed her the images. I am going to call my G2 Jazz, Blaze and make him sort of a flame trooper (sort of like your idea), the Mirage I'm gonna call Vice cause of the gators. He is basically Florida Man incarnate, but in a chaotic good sort of way. The Cycle is gonna be Hurricane, using directed wind or some such, (likely gonna repaint a bow I printed for Arcee to use with it too). Forgot the name we came up with for Sideswipe, so I might just swipe your name, but likely a different personality. Really liked this video though, really creative.

Great topic. I've loved how in recent years, both Hasbro and IDW made repaints actual new colours even though to the one panel cameo where IDW made AM Thundercracker and G2 Ramjet separate but unnamed Seekers to their G1 selves. Orange Jazz could work as the licence tie in Vroom Vroom repaint of Alternators Jazz years ago. I do wish they painted his face silver like green Mirage. Green Mirage could be Gobot Mirage's mold buddy Double Clutch. Colours are different but other characters like Sideswipe had multiple and varied colour schemes in G2. If we weren't tied to faction, I'd repurpose Dead End as European Motorvator Lightspeed or Breakdown as obscure Marvel UK character Chameleon. Or just call Breakdown Oilpan after his Bayverse repaint. Anyway, you've got some nice ideas here.

I tend to do the exact same thing for the characters and figures in my collection; I mainly do it so as to differentiate and avoid confusion when talking about characters that are unrelated but share the same name. Examples would be Metroplex, Menasor and Breakdown Metroplex is the G1 version, and I call the Cybertron version Grandus; Menasor is the G1 Stunticon Combiner and I call the Cybertron version Moledive; Breakdown is a Stunticon member of the Decepticons and I call the Autobot from Cybertron Rundown and made him old friends with Kup 😅 Hope you don't mind if I use that Sunrise name for this bright orange G2Jazz 😁

I love how different are approaches are. Mine are. Cloudcover-a head in the cloud seeker that always stumbles on autobot bases. Lasercycle is just jazz from another universe. My sideswipe is a corrupted clone of sideswipe and sunstreaker called sunswipe who makes crazy gadgets but always breaks them for fun. Jazz is a corrupted clone called teknop as in techno pop in which he only speaks in. Mirage is eyesore- an alligator lover who always draws attention. The stunticons get reformatted by unicron into the desperadacons. Shadowstrip who can latch onto others shadows. Write-off was once the paranoid breakdown but now he can't registered fear. Dread-end was an emo, now a satanist who killed for unicron. (I don't have one for wildrider) MayhemMaster can now take over the minds of his team making combining a more coherent combiner mode, this means his team hate him more than before. And lastly is there combine mode. Jeperdiesor.

I think Incarsor would make for a better combined mode name, if only to keep with the naming convention of the components. Cloud Cover could be just as happy to stay out of the limelight as Acid Storm, especially if he's tied in with the Rainmakers. Would be nice to try and come up with similarly styled repaints that use Dirge and Thrust's wings for "Conehead Rainmakers".

I feel like the orange tiger-stripe Grimlock could make for a really compelling "secret villain" by hitching his color scheme to another character that shares a shocking amount of it. What if it was the a "stripped bare" version of Vigilem, the titan of The Liege Maximo? It fits into the IDW idea of The Liege Maximo commanding an army of beast Transformers without stepping on the toes of the Maximals in the current Legacy line. Under this concept, rather than being lobotomized, Amalgamous and Nexus manually converted parts surrounding his spark chamber into a new body while he was unconscious, sent him on a rocket pod to the other end of the galaxy before he woke up, and used his body as the prison of his master. While he's playing along as a wayward Autobot under the name "Carcer" for now, he seeks to track down the starship that is his original body, free his master and become whole again.

With cloudcover it’d be cool to see the other 2 conehead molds be used like instead of thrust we get burnout then for dirge we’ll have snowstalker. Burnout will have a very fiery colour with some black or grey accents in the mix and the head panels/scoops instead of a checkerboard yellow/black pattern it’s a flame pattern the eyes, chest rotors, and cockpit could be a dark metallic red. Snowstalker will have a digital Arctic camo design with light grey accents and the head panels/scopes will either be horizontal lines or vertical lines and the lines will be painted in a metallic blue to match the eyes, chest rotors, and cockpit Like in the video theses will be an upgrade rain team where cloud cover makes clouds, burnout can cause drought like zones causing overheating issues and snowstalker can whip up a snow squall freezing tech and making driving impossible, but all 3 combined can make devastating tornadoes/hurricanes that ravage the battle field

I kinda see Cloudcover being the second in the trio with G2 Sandstorm, meaning we have two coneheads with camo patterns Throw in a Thrust style conehead in maybe a jungle camp pattern (I think Freefall could be a good name for him) and you have a good trio of coneheaded camo bots

I love this idea, but I gotta say, giving Cloudcover the bad weather ability kinda takes away the Rain Makers schtick. Additionally, Light cycle Jazz is using the Arcee mold! Let her be a girl version of Jazz, if could be a cool addition to her cloning blues! What I'm saying is make her trans. Otherwise, these are a lot of fun, I'd love to see them diversified like this!

Fun experiment here. You should do this with the new Legacy characters like the Fossilizers, Modulators, Junkions, and the SUPPOSED new characters in the Uni line which will seemingly be part of Kranix's species from the 1986 movie. Would be curious to see your takes.

Are you referring to the "Rock" listings? That is an interpretation I have not heard of, but it does make sense now that I think of it. They were originally conceived as rock aliens, even the name Lithone is based off of the Greek for rock.

I heard "He's a couple centuries from retirement" as the Autobot equivalent of "He's 2 days from retirement" cause how long Cybertronians usually live for a couple centuries really would be like 2 days for them... and in movies cops who are 2 days from retirement always seem to die. So now I'm instantly imagining that something horrible is about to happen to this Sundown character.

I like to take this one step further: while Sundown has “still got it” even while being so close to retirement, it’s Sunrise that keeps him going. Despite the youth’s occasional hotheadedness, Sunrise’s unique ways of thought processing and (literally) fiery combat abilities have come in handy for solving cases and saving Sundown’s rear end on more than a few occasions. In plenty of ways they make just about the perfect team for the job. Not that Sundown would so readily admit that in front of Sunrise just yet; “The kid still has a lot to learn!”
